Quiet Retreat
We greatly enjoyed our stay…the property was absolutely awesome! The home is older but very clean. The stairs going downstairs are steep but easily negotiable for a healthy adult. The downstairs consists of a master and a bunkroom with a shared bath. The washer/dryer are located in the basement garage and worked well. The bunkroom is great for sleeping due to it being on the inside of the home with no windows. The grounds were so beautiful and quiet. The upper porch is the showstopper where we wanted to spend most of our time. The views are spectacular looking to the north. We enjoyed the fire pit and made smores our last evening while we watched the sun set...made for a truly awesome memory. Also, the grounds around the home are absolutely filled with Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, White Pine, Tulip Poplar, Carolina Silverbell, Sassafras, and Red Maple. The ground is covered with Delicate Fern Moss, which makes for a soft, green carpet that gives the illusion of grass and is very comfortable to walk on. We even found Spanish Moss on the north sides of the trees which was surprising in this climate. Except for a very rare car passing out of sight below, the property was serene with only the sound of the many hummingbirds and mountain wind. We hope we can visit again in the future.
