The location of this house was centrally located near Black Moshannon State Park, Rothrock State Park and Poe Paddy / Poe Valley which offer some great hikes.
We loved the property. It was very clean and affordable. We loved the location- it was close to everywhere we wanted and needed to be. The owners were very organized with the check in and check out process. We will stay here again when we come back to the area.
The place was clean, comfortable, and in a quiet neighborhood. The host was helpful and responsive. The neighborhood was really nice for walking the dogs. Good location. Would definitely stay again.
My wife and I rented for art’s fest - cool spot! Plenty of space for more than one family, and walking distance from a bagel joint and Otto’s

Great Location
Location I give 5 stars. Great location close to shopping and restaurants. Nice neighborhood. 3.5 otherwise. We were there with our children and grandchildren and we found it not conducive for a large family gathering. Kitchen not well stocked air only in 2 rooms. Place was very roomy but little furniture. I imagine it is great in the fall and winter for PSU game weekends. But a hot July summer weekend not so much.
There was no hot tub on the premisses despite being described in the listening

Hi Melissa, the right vacation home is everything, and we’re sorry for any confusion about the hot tub. After reviewing your feedback, the homeowner wanted to share the following:- The listing was intended to reference a seasonal community pool and hot tub available in the neighborhood, rather than a private hot tub on the property. To prevent any future misunderstandings, we have worked with Evolve to clarify this in the listing. We appreciate your feedback as we continue to improve for future guests!
The house was great, spacious and clean. It seems there were a few unfinished things, so aesthetically some of the house seemed unfinished. For the most part, the house was fabulous and suited our purpose. The shower could’ve had a little more water pressure and the handle kept falling off. All in all, the Place was great.Thank you.
The outside of the property doesn’t do this justice. Clean, Well decorated and extremely comfortable. Only surprise was 3rd bedroom is in the basement pretty far away from the bathroom.

Clean but incredibly hot
I was in town for a week to attend a horse show and I wanted to bring my dogs with me. This home seemed like a good fit based on proximity to the show and space for my dogs. My stay was fine, with both pros and cons. I'll start with the pros -- very clean, nice/quiet neighborhood, washer/dryer, comfortable bed, and convenient location. And now to the cons -- my stay happened during the hottest days of summer (in the 90s). The home description stated it had window unit air conditioners. When I arrived, the air conditioners were not turned on and the house was roasting. There were only two units, at opposite ends of the home. Because of the home's layout, the unit in the living room only cooled the living room. The other unit was in the master bedroom. After 24 hours, with both units on high, the thermostat still read 80 degrees. I ended up keeping the bedroom door shut with my dogs inside the entire week. When I asked if it was possible to fix the issue to cool the rest of the house, I was told in the future it would be fixed but to turn the fans on (which I already had and they basically just circulated hot air). Thankfully it was only me staying there or everyone else would have been sweating. Additionally, the owners should consider adding rugs. The floors throughout the home are very slippery and my dogs slipped multiple times. I had to buy runners/small rugs to place throughout the home so they could walk comfortably. You need to go up about 7 steps to get to the living room and the steps are not carpeted. After slipping, my dogs were too nervous to use the steps, so we didn't step foot in the living room all week. Also, the water takes FOREVER to get hot and the water pressure is low. Ultimately, I feel like I could have stayed in a hotel for less money considering I mainly used the bedroom and bathroom. Unless they get the air conditioning straightened out, I would suggest not staying here in the summer.

Was not as advertised and needs work
While this house was comfortable and the linens and towels were clean I believe this house was not as advertise at all. I would never book here again and in good faith can’t leave a review other than poor.
Pool and hot tub- there was no pool or hot tub and if there was a community pool, the welcome binder did not explain how to access it. Outdoor space- the pictures show a fire pit with chairs. The fire pit was in an overgrown backyard with no chairs and no firewood. The front yard was also overgrown. Smoke Detectors- there were two fire smoke detectors in the property, there was NO detectors in the basement and NONE in the bedrooms. Kid friendly- it was stated that “Families love it for extra beds/cribs, games and toys”. There was no extra pack away crib and no toys for children. There were incredibly steep stairs (with no padding) straight to a concrete basement floor with no door keeping kids away from the stairs. The other set of stairs had a broken banister. Additionally, there was no stopper in the tub to give kids a bath. There were also exposed wires, holes in the floor and unlatched air conditioning vents.
Additionally we had these issues:
- Very damp moldy smell in basement bedroom. The basement bedroom had a broken door and broken sketchy outlet.
- In the upstairs bedroom: the leg on one of the beds was missing so the whole bed tilted down.
Among other things: unfinished floors and broken things, this house needs work. Not with the nightly price.

Hi Nicole, your review is greatly appreciated, and we're thankful for your time sharing your experience. Upon reviewing your feedback, we've connected with the homeowner, who wanted to address a few points:- Thank you for staying in our State College home. We are pleased you found the house comfortable and clean, as cleanliness is a top priority for us.- Our listing clearly states that the pool and hot tub are community amenities, and the confusion about these and the crib/kid toys was an error on the part of our booking platform, Evolve. We will ensure clearer instructions on accessing the pool and hot tub are provided in the future.- The fire pit is accurately depicted in our listing. While we don't provide firewood, we maintain the yard regularly. Unfortunately, we didn't receive any communication from you during your stay to address any concerns.- Our home features state-of-the-art Google Nest Protect smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, including in the basement. These may look different from traditional detectors but are fully functional.- The safety issues mentioned, such as steep stairs and a broken banister, are not typical. We will inspect these immediately. Our floors are finished.- The bed issue in the second bedroom was due to a moved leg. We've fixed it and ensured the bed is level. We're always available to assist guests and we quickly resolved the only reported issue with the door lock.We strive to provide a clean, enjoyable experience and have a strong track record. We're sorry your stay did not meet expectations.
