This was a perfect spot for a Girls Getaway! 3 roomie bedrooms, huge well-stocked kitchen, & large communal spaces. We loved the backyard & lake views. This property was close to Trenton & Wellington. We spent a day at Picton, & Sandbanks Provincial Park is an hour away. There are many wineries in the area to enjoy. We would love to return in the summer!
The property and cottage were immaculate. The location was perfect for the getaway we were after. The dock and beach on the property were exactly what we needed and the gorgeous deck made for some excellent outdoor meals. We had an awesome vacation, made some wonderful new memories. Thank you!
4 of us ventured to the county for a longweekend stay. We came up with the intention of touring local craft breweries. This provided the perfect home base for us. Easy enough to access from the 401 and close enough to the places we wanted to try while being off the beaten path enough to enjoy a quiet evening. We were right on the water and had all the things we'd need for our stay. We would definitely stay again.
My friends and I had a great stay at your cottage. The cottage was cozy, beds very comfortable and the living room areas were spacious. We would definitely return. The only issue was the door lock. It took us a number of tries before we could get the door open. Thanks again for your hospitality.

Not a great first impression
The interior of the home was as expected. The photos are accurate and the place was nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay, however our first impression was not a good one.
We visited in March and when we arrived the place looked abandoned as the driveway had not been recently plowed. This would have been fine, but there was no shoveled pathway from the driveway to the door. We were forced to trudge through a large snow drift to then climb icing steps and then find another pile of snow in front of the door. There was also no shovel available to clear the snow ourselves (I did eventually find a garden shovel in a shed in the back).
I immediately called the owner when we arrived as the water had not been turned on. That was an easy enough fix but again, not a great first impression. When I mentioned the snow removal issues to the owner, he responded by telling me that I had booked a cottage in winter so what did I expect.
It is clear that nobody is checking on the property before renters arrive. The place was pretty clean but there were a few minor issues. The place is nice and I'm sure it's beautiful in the summer but I think the hosts have some work to do.
The cottage was well located to the many beaches in the area. The owner was easy to contact for any problems if you had one, the check in was easy. There was lots of toys for the young ones and toys for the older ones. Overall a great place to relax and enjoy.
Great spot! Very well equipped cottage! Very comfy beds! Hosts take care of all the little extras that made prepping & packing so easy. Ie supplying bedding, shower & beach & kitchen towels. Toilet paper, soap, paper towel etc. Paul was very quick to respond to any questions we had leading up to and during our visit. He was happy to provide us with golf course descriptions and recommendations.
Excellent location to multiple golf courses, wineries & breweries.
The sunsets were spectacular!
We will return!
We really enjoyed the location. Although a drive from Wellington and Picton, we really loved being so close to Presqu'ile Park and North Beach. The beaches were so beautiful and quiet compared to Sandbanks. The property is huge so there is lots of room outside for playing catch, soccer, etc. Location is very close to a number of wineries though in Hillier, Rosehill, etc. Inside, everything was clean. Kitchen had everything we needed. The only downside was no A/C but my husband and I slept in the basement bedroom for the first few nights when it was really warm upstairs (27/28 degrees outside). Once the weather cooled down, the ceiling fans were sufficient to cool the place off. Overall, we had a great week at this place and would recommend it. Price was very reasonable compared to some of the other places in PEC these days.
We had a good time. The property is close drive to a lot of local wineries and restaurants. Highlights - close to Alpaca Farm- Shed, Pasta Bar, Lacey estates - lobster roll place and closson chase vineyards. Quick drive to North Beach!
A wonderful cottage for a family! So bright and airy. Loads of space for everyone to hang out together in the open concept living/dining/kitchen main room. A very well appointed kitchen made it easy to make meals. Perfect downstairs lounge area and extra bedroom for anyone who wants to watch TV or just get away from the main space. The dock area and the views are spectacular! Lots of wonderful birds to see down at the shore. Great lawn space for playing outdoor games. They really care about the details and making your stay very comfortable. Great location to experience the county!
The owners were very detailed and it was an easy process to check in and out of the place. The property was easy to find with the detailed instructions provided.
The house was well kept and clean with all amenities we were expecting. The weather was rainy the weekend we went so we kept ourselves occupied with the variety of games that were available.
Amazing Waterfront property has perfect view of those beautiful sunsets. A must see.
We will keep this listing handy and arrange another visit in the future. We will definitely recommend this place to family and friends.
First off the communication with the property owners were excellent. They responded very quickly to our questions and were accomodating.
The property is so cute and has a beautiful view of the lake.
The cottage was very clean. It even had toys, a changing table and crib for those who have younger children.
We couldnt of asked for a better stay.
Thank you so much.
This cottage is perfect for a family with young kids. Great beach for kids to play in the sand, with lots of toys. Large yard for Frisbee and playing. Nice size cottage that was clean and excellently provisioned with anything you may need. 3 bedrooms with a TV play area downstairs. Life jackets for canoeing or paddle boarding supplied by owner. Park pass and beach towels also supplied for trips to North Beach or sandbanks. Consecon is 20 minutes to Picton so its really close to anything you may want to do from strawberry picking to horseback riding. Owners were great to deal with and replied promptly to any questions you may have
We can't wait to go back!!!!!!
It is a very relaxing and comfortable home with alot of extra's included like toddler's seat, crib, lifejacket were a blessing. Kitchen was fully stocked with spices, honey, tea, pots, pans, strainers, Tupperware, laundry detergent, softener anything you would normally have in your house. It was outfitted with extra blankets, pillows, towels any a wide assortment of games and books. The wakeboard , canoe and children outside and inside toys were a great extra. The beautiful sunsets, friendly neighbors and locals made it very enjoyable. The deck furniture and bbq was a bonus.
The cottage is located perfectly near lots of day trip opportunities. The inclusion of the park pass is an excellent bonus, we used it everyday visiting North Beach and Sandbanks. The property was very clean on arrival. The beds are nice and comfortable and the cottage offers seating upstairs and down as well as outside on the deck. We had a great stay!
Our plans for the summer changed because of COVID, and we booked this cottage just a few weeks before. It turned out to be the perfect get-away during a time of pandemic. A few highlights:
* the cottage is laid out really well with good spaces inside and out to hang out with each other. We were a group of four and never felt on top of each other. While the cottage could sleep six, it might start to get a bit crowded (especially with only one bathroom).
* the cottage was very well cleaned before we arrived. The only thing not done was the lawn mowing. Neighbors told us that it is usually mowed weekly, so they weren't sure why no one had come in a couple of weeks. Those same neighbors then came over and mowed the section by the beach for us!
* Which brings me to another highlight. The neighbors on both sides of the cottage are very friendly. As is everyone we met in town.
* We really enjoyed using the cottage's canoe, and felt like it had great outdoor space for eating, swimming, playing yard games, and just hanging out
* The kitchen is probably the best stocked of any cottage we have stayed in. There are lots of bowls, pans, and dishes. Plus the cupboards already have several spices and staples (flour, sugar, baking powder, etc) so you don't really have to worry about bringing any of that along.
A few things you should know before you stay:
* Consecon is a cute town, but not as touristy as other parts of Prince Edward County. We enjoyed this because we didn't want to hang out with a lot of crowds during a pandemic. Plus, there are lots of great wineries very close by. If you wanted to walk into town for shopping, though, this isn't the spot for you. (Although there is a very nice poutine/burger spot almost across the street, and a coffee shop just down the road).
* The cottage is pet friendly and has a large front and back yard, but isnt' fenced. If you bring a dog, keep that in mind. A couple of the neighbors also have dogs who would wander over, so they are very understanding.
* The lake is sandy bottomed with a gradual entry and the water was pretty warm while we were there. It is great for small children, but if you are older and you want to find deep water, you need to wade out a very long ways. It isn't a huge deal though, and the cottage includes a parks pass to nearby North Beach if that really is an issue for you.

Not as advertised
We rented the Grondin Retreat for our annual girl’s golf and wine weekend. There were a number of things that were, in our opinion, unacceptable for the price we paid. Here they are:
1. Firstly, in looking for a place, we eliminated all properties that required us to provide our own linens. Two of us were flying in and the other was driving from Ottawa and we were arriving later in the evening and didn’t want to pack linens or make up beds when we arrived. After booking, lo and behold, we receive a PDF of rules, the first one being that we had to provide our own sheets, towels, dish towels, paper towel and toilet paper! What happened to the “home away from home” philosophy? We feel it is wrong for the owners to only reveal this AFTER one has already booked.
2. The place did not offer wifi. We understand that they may have a “come and get away from it all” philosophy, but it should probably be stated in the listing that wifi is not available.
3. We were slightly concerned by one review stating cleanliness as an issue, but booked anyways as there was only one. We didn’t find cleanliness to be an overall concern, however, there were cobwebs with live spiders in every corner of the house and other places such as under the couch. We aren’t scared of spiders, so it wasn’t a biggie for us, but if someone is afraid of spiders, they will want to stay away from this property. Also, one of our party ended up with over 50 bites by the end of the weekend. We weren’t outside much be because of weather and they weren’t mosquito bites. We don’t believe they were bedbugs either, but something was having a good feast. A fumigation may be helpful?
4. The listing mentions proximity to wineries as one of the nearby activities, which was one reason we chose Prince Edward County. We love wine. Imagine our surprise on the first evening when we opened a nice bottle of red wine and had to drink it out of Irish coffee mugs! There is only one proper wine glass in the cupboard. Four nice wine glasses should be a must in a home that lists wineries among its advantages.
5. The few days before we arrived, the weather was hot and the house was hot and stuffy. We discovered it had no air conditioning! Also, although fans are mentioned, they are not in evidence in the rooms. Luckily it cooled down the day after we arrived, so it wasn’t a huge issue.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, while we are disappointed by your comments we are more disappointed that this is the first we are hearing of these concerns. We would have been able to fix / address almost all of your concerns had you let us know your concerns when you arrived.
1. Wtih regards to the wifi and linens you are correct, we don’t provide either of those. If you were to use the filters within the VRBO system and select that you were looking for places with Wifi and linens provided, our property never would have showed up. We don’t hide the fact that we don’t provide these items and it is clearly outlined in the welcome document we provide. Regardless, if you would have let us know that you needed linens we would have been happy to accommodate. We have had many people from out of province and country stay with us and we have been able to meet their needs by ensuring that linens and towels were available.
2. As for the fans we in fact have 2 available and they are down in the laundry room. Again a simple call, text or email to us would have resolved that.
3. With regards to the wine glasses, you are right we don’t have fancy wine glasses and that is something that we will certainly replace, but we do have some in the cupboards, they are just not matching.
4. As for the spiders, it is a cottage and yes we do have spiders that show up occasionally due to our close proximity to the water. We will absolutely address this issue with our cleaner.
5. As for the beds and someone having spots after sleeping, We are not sure how to respond to that, to suggest bed bugs is not fair. We have mattress covers on all bed and wash all of the mattress covers after every stay and also vacuum all of the mattresses regularly. Two of the mattresses and box springs are actually brand new this year. We have never had anyone bring this concern to us previously and are shocked that we would first hear about it in a review.
We have been renting our cottage with pride for over 10 years since 2009. When clients on occasion have questions or concerns we always address them immediately and have usually found a very easy solution.

Just okay.
The house was spacious and the property owners were accommodating. However the house needs a good clean. The outside was very dirty and the inside is in need to some clearing out (there was a lot of the owners personal possessions). The kitchen needs some updated cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. There is a collection of old and odd things that people have left behind over the years. Overall, felt more like we were staying at a friends place than a vacation rental. The location was good and we enjoyed the area but would not rush back.

Thank you for the positive feedback on our place. We do have it professionally cleaned between each guest and will speak to them about refining our process. We are glad to hear that you got a friendly vibe from our place as that is what we are going for. It is also our personal cottage that we use throughout the year. The personal items and kitchen items are family things that have been passed down through the years so there is definitely an eclectic mix.
We had an amazing week away at this cottage. It was perfect for our family and the fact that we could have our dogs there was a bonus. It was bright and spacious and everything that we expected and then some!!
