This charming forest retreat is suitable for 1- 2 people looking for privacy and luxury. From marble counter tops to custom art , flooring and furniture you will feel you are surrounded by the finest of everything. The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you will need for whipping up a gourmet meal while taking in the gorgeous west coast panorama out your large kitchen windows . The bathroom boasts floor to ceiling natural stone tiles from Peru, heated flooring and a large walk in shower with grab bar. The charming bedroom with queen bed is done up with soft comfortable linens looks out its own double French doors onto a wooded wonderland. Watch deer wander by as you sip your morning coffee in front of the custom cement fireplace with gas insert. There is parking for 2 vehicles. The cottage sits on a lovely natural 5 acre parcel of land with the owners house approximately 100 meters further along the private lane. The owners will respect your full privacy yet are more than happy and available for answering questions The charming village of Brentwood Bay is 5 mins away by car, here you will find all the conveniences you need, grocery stores, liquor stores, coffee shops, drug stores, medical clinic as well as the Brentwood Bay lodge that boasts a world class restaurant, pub, spa and marine shop where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks, eco cruises and scuba diving equipment.. Butchart gardens as well as numerous hiking trails, wineries, farm stands, lakes and beaches are only minutes away. Victoria city is 15 mins, and the sea side town of Sidney is 15 mins. An absolutely stunning place to stay. Completely peaceful with its location in the woods. It has a well stocked kitchen should you decide to eat in, as we did. This one was the highlight of our two week journey around Vancouver island.

This house is a one of a kind gem. The beautifully wooded setting can be enjoyed in every direction through large glass windows and doors. The kitchen is well equipped and many basics for cooking are provided. We loved every element of this uniquely designed retreat and hope to return.

We had a wonderful stay at the peaceful hillside private forested retreat. We loved watching the birds and deer from all the outdoor seating areas. Inside was lovely with lots of personal touches from the hosts including original art and handmade furniture. We would love to come back someday!!

This beautiful cottage is as described and some. Kathleen and Bruce have paid close attention to detail to ensure comfort, convenience and relaxation for their guests of their cottage. We will definitely book again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay in mid-August. The weather was perfect too, but it would be equally comfortable year-round. It’s just a few minutes’ drive to services, but otherwise isolated in the trees along a shared, partially paved, driveway. Our only visitors were a doe and its fawn walking through a couple of early mornings.

This is an absolutes treasure of a place to stay while in Victoria. Everything was much better than we had expected….. everything you could possibly need, kitchen was well equipped, large walk-in shower with lots of towels, comfortable bed and quality linens. We enjoyed the peaceful surrounding and spent a lot of time just sitting amongst the forest. Thanks again Kathleen for a wonderful experience and stay.

Gorgeously designed and decorated cottage in the woods! Very peaceful, private and relaxing location. Love all the creative decor and artwork. Lots of DVDs and CDs to watch and listen to. The kitchen was fabulous and well appointed - great area to create delicious meals. Especially loved the bathroom rain shower and well water! The water tastes fresh and crisp and does wonders for your hair! :). Owners were very kind and very easy to communicate with. Highly recommend!

The property was beautiful. It was clean and felt high end for a VRBO! The heated bathroom floor was such a treat and the toiletries were really nice. I loved all the information our wonderful hosts left, including the history of how they designed and decorated the cottage. I would recommend this property and hope to stay here again if/when we return to the area!!

We loved our stay in this glorious French inspired country cottage. The creative decor, the colourful artwork (painted by our talented host), the fine finishings - everything was top notch. We enjoyed sitting outside, being quiet and soaking it all in. The Douglas fir trees are magnificent. We would gladly return for a few more days in this peaceful sanctuary.

We really enjoyed our stay in Kat’s cottage. It was spacious and airy and bright! The kitchen was set up with everything we needed, and there were two lovely spots for enjoying our coffee outside in the morning. Kathleen was very welcoming, and kept in contact with us throughout our stay. The location is quiet and private, yet only a few minutes drive from Brentwood for supplies, or about 35 minutes from downtown to see the sights. We would recommend staying at the cottage for anyone looking for this type of stay.

Amazing French Country cottage! Spacious and beautifully decorated. We came to the area to visit Butchart Gardens and this was perfectly located close by. Also close enough for a couple of day trips to Victoria.

They are both business owners and grew up on Vancouver Island. Kathleen is a painter and you will notice many of her art works decorating the walls. They both are avid hikers so can tell you all the best trails for hiking.

Why they chose this property

We love living in rural Saanich. We used to live in Victoria city for 20 years but then bought and built our house out here in 2002. Saanich is so beautiful, full of so much to do, hiking, wineries, beaches, lakes yet many interesting shops, pubs and resteraunts. We are still discovering new little eateries or exciting hiking trails! We feel our property is very special and hope others will enjoy its natural beauty as much as we do.
