About this property

A Guest Favourite on Princes Wharf — Harbour Views

A much-loved one-bedroom apartment on iconic Princes Wharf, king bed, private balcony with harbour and Maritime Museum views, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, in-unit laundry, air conditioning, and sofa bed for occasional extra guests. The Ferry Terminal, Viaduct, and Commercial Bay are all minutes on foot. Currently undergoing a bathroom upgrade — arriving to an even better apartment.

This one-bedroom apartment on Princes Wharf has quietly built one of the most consistent records of any property on the wharf, and the reason is straightforward: it does everything well, in the right location, without fuss.

The apartment is bright, well-configured, and comfortably furnished throughout. The king bed is dressed in premium bedding and positioned in a proper separate bedroom — a real bedroom with genuine privacy, not a studio partition. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area is airy and practical, with large windows and natural harbour light filling the space throughout the day. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, stovetop, microwave, and all the cooking essentials needed for serious self-catering — a configuration that guests on longer stays particularly appreciate. In-unit washer and dryer add further self-sufficiency.

The private balcony overlooking the Maritime Museum Harbour is where the apartment`s waterfront address pays its most obvious dividend. Morning coffee out here, watching the first ferries of the day and the occasional sailing yacht preparing to head out through the Harbour entrance, is one of those small pleasures that guests mention again and again. In the evenings, the view shifts — restaurant lights reflecting off the water, the hum of the Viaduct just around the corner, the wharf itself settling into its quieter residential rhythm.

A sofa bed in the lounge is available on advance request for occasional extra guests — please get in touch when booking if you need this set up. Air conditioning, unlimited high-speed WiFi, and a Smart TV complete a package that has earned its rating through consistent delivery rather than any single headline feature. The bathroom is currently undergoing a renovation to further improve the apartment — an upgrade that will only add to the experience for guests arriving once it`s complete.

Princes Wharf has been part of Auckland`s story since 1929, when it was formally opened by Earl Jellicoe as a two-storey concrete wharf — at the time, an engineering first for the city. For decades it was Auckland`s window to the world: cargo ships from Britain, Asia, and South America, ocean liners bringing emigrants and returning servicemen, and during the Second World War, a working base for United States forces supporting the Pacific campaign. For generations of Aucklanders, this was the place you came to farewell someone leaving for the other side of the world — or to welcome them home.

In 1998, a major redevelopment designed by Leuschke Group Architects transformed the wharf while preserving its long concrete bones — six interconnected heritage shed buildings, including Shed 22, now house apartments, restaurants, and retail above what was once a working cargo dock. Today the wharf is one of the city`s most recognisable destinations, with the five-star Hilton Auckland anchoring the seaward end and free public viewing decks at the tip of the wharf offering serene harbour vantage points with sightlines stretching to Rangitoto Island and the Hauraki Gulf.

The entire apartment is yours — king bedroom, bathroom (currently being upgraded), fully equipped kitchen, open-plan living and dining area, and the private balcony with harbour and Maritime Museum views. The sofa bed in the lounge is available on advance request for occasional extra guests.

Check-in is from 3:00 PM. Keys are collected from a secure lockbox location, a short five-minute walk from the apartment — the team there will have everything ready for you. To ensure a smooth arrival, we ask all guests to complete a short online pre-check-in form and upload a valid government-issued photo ID before arriving.

A private airport transfer can be arranged at additional cost with at least 48 hours notice.

While we will leave you in peace to enjoy your time in Auckland, we are available 24 hours a day for an emergency.

Princes Wharf itself is a dining destination in its own right. Somm offers serious wine tasting alongside its menu, Wahlburgers brings its famous family-recipe burgers right to the water`s edge, and a string of waterfront restaurants serve everything from long, unhurried harbour-view lunches to special-occasion fine dining with fireplaces and sweeping outdoor terraces. The New Zealand Maritime Museum is immediately alongside the wharf — a genuinely worthwhile visit for anyone curious about the seafaring history that shaped this city and this harbour.

The Viaduct Harbour`s celebrated restaurant and bar strip is a five-minute walk, with Baduzzi, Hello Beasty, Giraffe, and an excellent selection of bars and wine rooms that make the Viaduct one of Auckland`s most consistently enjoyable evening destinations. Commercial Bay`s flagship retail and dining complex and Britomart`s cobblestoned laneway precinct are both within easy reach. The Auckland Ferry Terminal is close by with daily services to Waiheke Island, Devonport, and the Hauraki Gulf — a morning ferry crossing to Waiheke for wine, food, and beaches is one of the genuinely great Auckland day experiences, and starting it from Princes Wharf makes it feel entirely effortless.

Wynyard Quarter`s North Wharf dining precinct and Silo Park are an easy waterfront stroll west, adding further variety to an already exceptional concentration of dining and entertainment options within walking distance of the wharf.

Auckland is easily explored from Princes Wharf. The Auckland Ferry Terminal is a short walk with regular services to Waiheke Island, Devonport, and the Hauraki Gulf. Britomart Transport Centre connects the full train network. Uber and taxis are plentiful throughout the waterfront precinct. There is no car park with this apartment — paid public parking is available nearby in the Viaduct and CBD. Auckland Airport is approximately 30 to 40 minutes by car or shuttle.

The sofa bed in the lounge is available on advance request only — please let us know when booking if you need it set up, as it cannot be arranged on the day of arrival. Weekly and monthly discount rates are available for extended stays.

Please note that views and access may occasionally be affected when cruise ships are docked at the wharf — this is managed by the Ports of Auckland and outside our control, but we will always let you know in advance if we`re aware of any disruption during your stay. This is a non-smoking, no-vaping property throughout. No parties or events. Quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Checkout is by 10:00 AM.

For those non-urgent like-to-haves, just give us a call or a quick message and we will do everything we can to make this your most memorable trip to Auckland yet.
We kindly ask all guests to help us maintain the peaceful, high-standard environment of this home by following a few simple rules:

A valid photo ID, email address, and phone number are required prior to check-in.

Please respect our no-party policy and observe quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Smoking, vaping, or drug use is not permitted inside the suite or anywhere in the apartment, building, complex or balcony.

In the rare case of a noise complaint or evidence of smoking, an additional fee of up to NZD $500 may apply.

Check in available after 3pm through lock box key collection. Lock boxes are located a short distance away, full details will be sent prior to arrival. We advise collecting the keys on your way to the apartment, if coming to the city via taxi or UBER, ask the taxi to wait a second while you collect the key. The walk to the apartment from the lock box is not far, but no one wants to walk in the city with suitcases!

These measures ensure that every guest enjoys a serene, premium experience — thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
