The Closest Home to The Hollywood Sign / HSR25-001176
This is the closest house to the HOLLYWOOD sign, adjacent to the 4000 acres of Griffith Park. Once owned by the 60's band The Association ("Cherish", "Windy", "Never My Love"), this house has a long Rock n Roll history. David Crosby was introduced to Graham Nash by Mama Cass, who lived next door, at a party in this house. If you want everything new and shiny like The Four Seasons, you should book a room at The Four Seasons. This is a fun, rustic Rock 'n Roll Landmark house built in 1963, photographed by Linda McCartney in 1967 and featured in her book, "The Sixties".
We are artist/filmmakers based in Western Mass, but we maintain a live/work studio called UndertheSign Studios in our Hollywood home and one or both of us may be working in LA during your visit. Our studio is separate from the house, so you will have total privacy there. We give you complete privacy, but welcome you to contact us anytime for anything and welcome you to visit with us as well.

Host was very responsive and friendly. Location offers an unique experience available through no other VRBO. We loved being so close to the Hollywood sign and getting to stay in a property with such a rich history. Beds were comfortable and many amenities offered.
The house is in a great location with beautiful views all around. Jeff is a wonderful host! We loved interacting with the goats that are clearing the property behind the house.
Our stay was absolutely fantastic the host is awesome. We’re close to a lot of things. The views were absolutely incredible. Being below the Hollywood sign was amazing. If you want a place to stay. This one is absolute the one. Close to universal studios not far from the beach. I would stay here again. Thank you very much.

Thanks, Mari! You and your tribe are welcome back anytime! JK
We had a great time at the house in Hollywood. The kids and the adults loved Jack. The family loved the eclectic vibe the house had. The area was very peaceful!
Highly recommend this place nice view very convenient for trails and really close to universal studios. Very beautiful nature scenery and great photo opportunities
We loved staying in this one-of-a-kind home in the Hollywood Hills. There was ample room for five of us - two parents and our three young adult sons - and we especially enjoyed the deck with its sprawling LA views, and general comfort of the entire home. We would love to stay here again!

John was a pleasure to host...welcome back anytime...
Location is great if you want to escape the LA hustle. Great trails for outdoor activities! We had to be at UCLA for events and it was a tough commute. The home needs an upgrade; but as-is condition worked for a short weekend. The Owner was professional and very responsive.
We had a great time staying in Hollywoodland. Diana was a great host and treated us amazingly. From inviting us on hikes around the beautiful hills, to making us snacks in her air fryer, she was awesome. Would recommend.
We absolutely loved the home and Jeff+Diana’s warm hospitality. This was the perfect spot with plenty of room to host our family of 4 teens and enjoy the views of the city. Everything we needed was at the home ;)
We loved staying at this house!! The host was so nice and shared the history of the house with us, which was awesome! We were there for Universal Studios and it was an easy 10 minute drive from the house. There is a problem with some ants due to being on the hill but it was manageable. We will definitely book here again!
We loved our stay at the chalet. It is a really cool house in an awesome spot underneath the Hollywood sign. My family loved our time there. Our two boys, ages 10 and 7, loved the loft area on the second floor and the hot tub outside. It’s a great place to explore with the Mulholland trail right nearby. If you like running/walking the trail is fantastic. Iconic views of the Hollywood sign and LA skyline. It’s also a really short drive to Universal Studios. If you are looking for something different than just a hotel room, I highly recommend this awesome chalet. Jeff is really great and easy to communicate with. It is truly an iconic Los Angeles experience, easy 5 stars!
Jeff was awesome and super communicative during our stay! A beautiful home with an even better view. While the drive up to the house is very curvy, you can't beat the location. It was easy to get around! The house has a phenomenal sound system that made waking up to music very nice. While we didnt spend a whole lot of time in the house, when we did, it was cozy and had everything we needed + more. Overall we would love to stay again!
Owner was very responsive to the couple of items we had questions about. Would have liked a downstairs shower but as we were all family, it worked out. Beautiful view of town and exciting to be so close to the Hollywood sign. A little difficult to find as our GPS sent us to the wrong side of the mountain.
For my experience, it was strange to have the host on the same property with only glass doors separating but it was fine. Our group felt that the property could use a bit of TLC. None the less, the history of the house and the Hollywood sign made the entire trip worth it and my family and I would stay there again. Views were unmatched and that sound system was incredible.
If your looking for a great place to get together with family/friends and relax and enjoy each others company, you can find that here. If your looking for something to complain about, you can certainly that as well. this is a great place if you can roll with it and just enjoy what it has to offer. If your three couples with six kids and 2 dogs between you, your going to love this place. If staying somewhere immediately after 3 couples with 6 kids and 2 dogs makes you apprehensive, this is probably not your best option.
The experience of staying at Jeff's place was incredible. From the quietness, the coziness, and the best hospitality. I enjoyed the home as it is older with character and has an eclectic vibe. Kitchen has everything in stock and sharables too. The outside shower is super relaxing and unique. Downhill has local markets and cafe so you basically have it all, including the iconic trail to the Hollywood sign. You basically will be in the house closest to the sign because it's literally in the back yard. Enjoy!
We really enjoyed our stay at the A-frame under the Hollywood sign. The historic element of the house was incredible. There are pictures by Linda McCartney of the Association posing in the loft. We can still sense the vibe of the 60's in that house and the wonderful music that must have been created there.
We were a family of ten and the hosts went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. I highly recommend this house as the perfect experience while you are in Los Angeles. The trails are incredible and they start right outside the door.
The chalet was the perfect getaway for our family vacation. Jeffrey and his pup Jack Ryan were stellar hosts who greeted us when we arrived and did a thorough job of explaining the features of the house. The stereo system is impressive and must be experienced.
Overall, the A-frame is cozy and a bit rustic, oozing with old school charm. The place is quirky, but that is part of the charm. Adding to the charm is being surrounded with Hollywood history, being just steps away from the famous sign on the hill. The location is both breathtaking and a bit of a hike to get to, consisting of many twists and turns as you wind your way up the mountain. Great experience and we would definitely stay again.
