A nice getaway spot

Communication with Leola was easy and fast. The cabin was very comfy. It was definitely a nice and relaxing spot. I'd definitely come back again.

We enjoyed staying at this property for a week in August. We were able to bring our dog and our fishing boat. Having a private dock was very convenient and the fish were biting all week! The cabin is cute and in a good location. There was plenty of room in the cabin and the deck and grill were nice amenities to have.

Wonderful lake vacation

We had a very nice time on Sullivan Lake. The cabin was comfortable, the location was perfect. We kayaked and fished from the dock daily. We enjoyed the wildlife: loon family, eagle and more.

Unfortunately, our stay was very disappointing due to several significant issues with the condition and functionality of the property.When we arrived, there was a strong and unpleasant odor throughout the cabin. The water was brown and had a very foul smell. We had to let the water run for an extended period before showering, and the odor remained noticeable.We also found a dead bat underneath a table in the sunroom, which we had to remove ourselves.There were additional concerns with the property. The front door did not feel adequately secure, as the only lock was located on the door handle. We also experienced an electrical problem when using the bathroom outlet to dry our hair. The breaker tripped and approximately half of the electricity in the cabin went out.These were not minor inconveniences. They affected basic cleanliness, water quality, sanitation, security, and the functionality of the property during our stay.The cabin itself has a nice location and potential, but based on our experience, the property needs attention to these issues before we would feel comfortable recommending it to other travelers.Future guests should be aware of these conditions and may want to confirm that the issues have been addressed before booking.

Cute and well appointed cabin

We loved our stay, the cabin was clean and well kept, a quintessential, vintage, up north Minnesota cabin. We didn’t spend much time there, mostly just to sleep, but found it comfortable and well stocked with just about anything you could possibly need. The view from the deck and porch is so lovely as well. Would recommend.

We spent 8 days at this cabin the last week of July 2026. The property is private and the lake is beautiful. We loved having a dock to tie up our boat. The cabin is a rustic family retreat with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and an expansive screened in porch. The weather was hot and the 2 bedroom window air conditioners were able to keep the main part of the cabin cool. There are several local restaurants within 15-20 minutes and Pierz has a nice grocery store.Here’s the downside. We were disappointed to learn that there is no garbage service for the property and we had to pack our trash home. The water in the cabin has a high mineral content and has an odor. The host left several bottles of water as well as a couple of gallons but it was an extra task to buy spring water throughout week. And I’m not sure if we had a particularly bad week but the deer flies outside were awful, swarming and biting. They didn’t bother us out on the water but otherwise our outdoor time was severely limited. We looked forward to long walks with our lab but the flies bit him all over his face. All in all, it’s a quaint, well equipped family cabin on a beautiful lake. Be prepared for the trash and water situation and do your homework on when the deer flies are less active.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. We try to address all issues within our control. We know the water's mineral content is a concern this season across the entire area, and we've just replaced the kitchen sink water filter, while also leaving bottled water for guests. There is unfortunately no trash removal service in the area, but the cabin has a trash compactor and the local hardware store accepts trash for a small fee, with details in our Welcome Book. As for the deer flies, that's a seasonal condition tied to local weather and outside of our control, though it doesn't affect time out on the water. We appreciate you sharing your experience and hope future guests can plan around these details to enjoy our family retreat.

Truly magical. Sullivan lake is such a deep and clean lake, it is hard to beat in general. The cabin itself was very private. We loved morning coffee on the patio and the huge screened in porch was fabulous when it was raining or the mosquitoes were out. The bedrooms were large and the kitchen had a ton of space and was stocked with anything you would use to cook. It is a cabin and has some rustic-ness but the photos were accurate. Communication was phenomenal and very quick to respond. Highly recommend.

needs some cleaning

The lake was beautiful and the outside of house was wonderful. The deck and 3 seasoned porch were very nice. I did have some concerns. In the cupboards and drawers of the kitchen there was mouse droppings. I cleaned the drawers where the utensils were and the other items we were using and sanitized the stuff we were using to eat off of. I understand that cabins like this can have mouse problems but I personally don't want to eat off of plates that mice have ran across. I also had a hard time trying to figure out how to heat the cabin. They did have some heat and cooling in the windows of the bedrooms but the electric base board in the main parts of the cabin did not work. They did have some electric heaters but they did not give off much heat so when we got up in the morning the cabin was the same temperature as the outside. I never saw droppings on the counters once we got there nor did I see mice but there is a real possibility that there is a nest somewhere.

Our cleaner does a stellar job as you can see by the wonderful past reviews we have received. However, we have since re-cleaned the cabin and re-cleaned the kitchen cabinets, the drawers, the dishes, and the utensils to be sure everything is fresh and guest-ready - The cabin is seasonal and we do not have central heat, nor is it in the listing. We do provide space heaters for the bedrooms, and there is a fireplace to heat the main room and kitchen areas. We experienced unusually cold temperatures during your visit. - We wish you had reached out during your stay, as we would’ve gladly sent someone over to assist right away. - We are very proactive and treat for pests so that they do not become an issue.We do all we can to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests.
