About this property

Coastal Cottage in pure Nature, Kells, Kerry, Ireland

A Grá Mo Croí - (My Heart's Desire) is a traditional Irish-style cottage in Roads / Kells. It lies at the end of a cul-de-sac on a mountain slope with a fantastic view of Dingle Bay, the Dingle Peninsula and the Atlantic Ocean with the offshore Blasket Islands. The house and the beautiful garden are located on a 7000qm large plot and give enough privacy. In beautiful tranquility, away from everyday life, you can enjoy the cosiness of the cottage, after you return from a walk in the fresh sea air. The house has three bedrooms.
On the ground floor there is a bedroom with adjoining bathroom. This bedroom has a double bed.
In the attic there are two bedrooms. One has two single beds and the other has a large single bed. There is also a shower room.
If you have prepared your meal in the well-equipped kitchen, you can enjoy it in the winter garden with breathtaking views.
General Information: The Iveragh Peninsula is mainly characterized by the Ring of Kerry, which is the main attraction of southwestern Ireland in County Kerry. But not only the scenic road but also the surroundings of Killarney and Valentia Island and Skellig Michael belong to the Iveragh, where inside with the McGillycuddy Reeks are also the highest mountains in the country. The peninsula has pretty much everything about prehistoric and early monuments that Ireland's history offers. Outstanding are Abbeys, Castles (around Killarney), Duns, Friary, Sacred Springs, Ogham Stones, Menhirs, Wedge tombs and the great Alignement of Eightercua. The place Killorglin is known for the three-day festival "Puck Fair" (beginning 10th of August). The festival, based on Celtic traditions, in which mainly animals are involved, is a crowned goat as king. The occasion of the festival was Christianized. The buck, however, originally symbolized the Irish goddess. His monument in the village represents him standing on a boulder. A detour from Cahersiveen on the Valentia River leads to the Steinforts or Duns of Cahergall and Leacanabuaile. To the west are Valentia Island and Beginish Island. The tiny Church Island, whose monastery dates back to 750 AD, can only be reached by private initiative from the pier in Cahersiveen. Valentia Island can also be reached by boat from there or from Reenard Point to Knightstown, the main settlement on the island. There is a road connection over the bridge at Portmagee. The island is between Knightstown and the Bray Head Lighthouse about 10 km long and only 3-4 km wide. Away from the busy narrow streets of the Ring of Kerry lies the Wandererparadies, the entire hilly southwest with the main town Ballinskelling with the old Priory. From here you can book private tours (30-40 €) to Skellig Michael, the island of monks, the puffin.

Proud Owner who still loves the place to bits.
We built in 1997 and started planting. So the garden is well matured.
In 2012 we tore down each and every wall to add a floor heating, a sun room and more and more and more windows.
