It’s cute, compact, has all the essentials and it’s a stay you’ll remember for all the right reasons. If you’re looking for a getaway with a difference, then look no further than Skiddaw. It features a double bed, TV, a compact dining area with stools, and a modern kitchenette complete with a two-ring hob, fridge, microwave and enough storage and workspace to prepare a meal for two. This adds a whole new dynamic to the concept of glamping! Life’s too short to be boring, try this fun and exciting way of modern living. It’s also big enough to feature a fully fitted shower room with shower cubicle, sink, heated towel rail and toilet. Just perfect for two people. Cooking and washing up will be the last thing on the agenda with such a great selection of dining experiences in the area though! Your nearest pub is just 1¾ miles away - just a 5-minute taxi ride, or a lovely 30-minute walk taking in the sights of the surrounding fells as well as some of the amazing wildlife including buzzards, kestrels and, of course, red squirrels.
The best bit about this shepherd’s hut has got to be the view from the picture window! Imagine waking up in the morning to a vision of rolling grassland, picturesque hills and even a glimpse of Derwentwater in the distance. Situated adjacent to the owner’s home on their working farm, you are surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Northern Lake District Fells: Catbells and Latrigg to the front, and the imposing view of Skiddaw to the rear. Once outside this well-designed space, you have your own private outdoor seating area where you can soak up the morning sun, as well as private parking and access to some great local walks, wildlife and cycle routes.
Lake View Shepherd’s Hut is just 2 miles from the bustling town centre of Keswick, which is brimming with a great selection of bars, shops, restaurants, nightlife, independent boutiques, a great local market and plenty of days out and activities nearby. This traditional market town has lots to discover and has many little streets and courtyards. Keswick is home to The Derwent Pencil Museum, where the largest pencil in the world can be found. If you like culture, The Theatre By The lake offers a stunning lakeside location and award-winning arts and drama. Water sports are available on Derwentwater, and if you love outdoor adventure including walking, cycling and climbing you are surrounded by some amazing scenery and routes. Gin tasting tours can also be enjoyed at the famous Lakes Distiller, or if you want a really wild day out, try The Lake District Wildlife Park - both are just 7 miles away in Bassenthwaite. The hut is very well equipped with all the mod cons. Quiet location and very friendly hosts. Spectacular views towards Keswick and Borrowdale and within only 10 minutes drive of the town whilst resting in the shadow of Skiddaw. A perfect location for a romantic break. Very highly recommended.
