At the foot of the majestic San Juan range is a handmade log cabin nestled in a grove of old growth ponderosa and cottonwood trees. It sits along a private stretch of Dallas Creek and provides a perfect setting for tranquility and relaxation.
The 2.5 bedroom and 1.5 bath cabin was built by artists, so much of the furnishings and details are creative, hand crafted and include family heirlooms. The cabins’ rustic feel is complemented with high-speed Wi-Fi, a flat screen TV, DVD player and stereo. There is no cable TV but there are lots of books and games. Or, express your inner artist on the well supplied drawing table. The front door opens to the large living room with a high ceiling extending to the second floor and is warmed by the wood burning stove. The room is furnished with comfortable leather club chairs and a couch. The large windows bring the creek, woods and mountains into view. The full kitchen has a bar sitting area and is adjacent to the dining area. The surrounding windows offer views of the amazing wildlife that gather near the creek. “Saloon doors” lead to a laundry room and a full bath. The “captains” staircase takes you to the loft master bedroom and en-suite half bath which is furnished with a comfy queen bed and plenty of closet and dresser storage. The arched window serves as a star gazing headboard. On the same level, across the “bridge” is an area for sketching or reading with the San Juan range watching down on you with the creek flowing by. Downstairs is a cozy second bedroom furnished with an antique twin bed having views to the San Jauns and the wooded rock garden.
The back door opens to a large deck terracing down toward the creek. Enjoy coffee in the morning and wine in the evening with the sound of the creek flowing by. Stroll through the park-like setting or go fishing along your private creek. This warm and unique environment is perfect for a romantic getaway, one adult couple or a small family of 3 (not suitable for children under 12). You may not want to leave the seclusion of the property, but if you do, the town of Ridgway is only 3 miles away and all the activities offered by the area are close. The owners live on the other side of this 8-acre property. Just behind the property is a wild 200-acre green belt.
Close by is the Ridgway State Park with trails, boating and fishing. Also, mountain bikers will be thrilled with the RAT (Ridgway Area Trail system) a mile away. The historic towns of Ouray (9 mi) and Telluride (36 mi) are easy drives away. Hot springs are located just outside Ridgway and in Ouray. Hundreds of miles of Jeep roads allow you to explore the high country and historic mines. Ridgway is on the San Juan Scenic Byway, one of America's most beautiful roads for driving or motorcycle touring. This property and the surrounding areas are a photographers paradise.
This is an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind place to stay.
