Great property close to Fairplay

Property is tucked in a lot filled with aspens and pines! Easy 15-20 minute walk to town and far enough from the highway so that you don't hear the road noise. House was clean and ready for use upon arrival. Had never seen croquet golf before but after playing about a dozen rounds we were hooked! Would definitely stay here again.

Family Vacay at The Cozy Burro

We were looking for a home that was secluded and large enough to comfortably fit our family of 12. We found that in The Cozy Burro...plenty of space both inside and out. The kitchen was well-stocked with items we needed for preparing meals and there were plenty of towels, extra linens and other necessities. We were able to use the outdoor grill as well as enjoy the firepit, sand volleyball, zip line, hot tub and mountain golf/croquet. We wanted to make memories and that's just what we did here. Thank you to the owners for a wonderful experience!

Wonderful, relaxing time with a big group

This house is remote enough to truly unwind, yet close enough to a very interesting and friendly "downtown." We had a blast. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen and bathrooms were very well-stocked, and the outdoor activities/amenities were wonderful. We had a big family group, and everyone had space to spread out, yet it was very easy to spend special time together. I highly recommend this property.

Perfect Getaway

This is a great place for anyone wanting a Rocky Mountain Vacation. This place is close to just about everything colorado has to offer. The property is also very large because its adjacent to BLM (open space) land. The only noise was the music we played from the wired outdoors surround sound. You could also hear the music while playing mountain golf. If you want to see animals, They are here. some actually on the property. Elk herds a few mile down the road. Mountain Vista's from this property every direction. It snowed very hard a few days during our trip, even with 8 to 12 inches on the pass between Breck & Fairplay we easily crossed the pass with no problem. The snowplows did a amazing job keeping it open. A 4wd will make things worry free. The property is very easy to get to & parking plentiful. Nice circle driveway & maintained flat roads in & out of the property. We went to Denver via 285 to the Av's game. It was a 1 hour drive. I believe any summit county ski resort is within less than a hour drive & loveland about a hour. (Taking your time). The market in fairplay closes early but summit county grocery stores are open later. The house was a very comfy tri level. The fireplace was awesome & will dry gloves & boots well. We kept our gear & shoes in the Sun room, Its perfect for the buffer between outside & the house. The hot tub is close to the Sun room for that short freezing run between the house & hot tub. A 104' degree hot tub made even snowy day nice & cozy. a must for a recoup day after a good crash at Breck. The media room downstairs is full of games & the couch is so large 3 people layed down & watched movies on a fully surround sound system. It was awesome. The Bar has a fridge & sink. WiFi never missed a beat, better than what I have at home. Kitchen has everything you need, double oven, GAS stove was great. Cleanup was easy. Plenty of trash storage. Property manager was very fast returning calls & very nice. We arrived at 10pm on the first night. Guide booklets & coupons were awesome. We could have stayed at Breck in a much smaller place for the same money. This was defiantly a better option & everyone had comfy space. fairplay has all the stores you need for supplies & just a mile down the road. Even a ski shop for tune ups & repairs. For the curious ones, They do have a dispensary in fairplay & Alma. Although, no smoking on the property. You can "Rec before you Breck".

Great spacious mountain home, close to skiing.

We had the best time here. We had family in Colorado from out-of-state and they went skiing at Breckenridge. It was just a 30 minute drive for them. The house was clean and very spacious for our group. We cooked and had everything we needed. The setup on the main floor was perfect for playing games and eating together as one group. The hot tub was very enjoyable too! We would definitely stay here again.

excellent property with hospitable accommodations

This is a great property and we enjoyed our stay very much. We did go to Breckenridge both days we were in the mountains and coming back to this house was very easy, convenient and relaxing. Our teenage boys enjoyed the hot tub and even played a round of mountain golf. Our dogs enjoyed the outdoors. Also, the market is very close and convenient and had everything we needed. Thanks for a great quick trip.

Great accommodations at the Cozy Burro

This is the third summer that our Board has chosen to use the Cozy Burro for our annual retreat. We work in the mornings, take walks and enjoy the surrounding area parts of the day, and enjoy watching a film together in the evenings. There are eight of us, and the Cozy Burro is the perfect size for us. It is quiet, but it is close to the restaurants in town, since we like to have one evening free from cooking. Each year, we all agree that it will be the Cozy Burro for us again next year! Lara Newton C.G. Jung Institute of Colorado

Beautiful property and spacious home

This is an ideal place for a group of people that want a few common areas as well as beds for everyone. It's unpretentious and comfortable and we all felt immediately at home. The grounds had so much to offer (we played capture the flag, night sardines, volleyball and croquet golf.) it was perfect!

Our Board Retreat

We stayed at the Cozy Burro for three days on a "working retreat." This was our second time here, and it definitely will not be our last! The space is perfect for us - we can meet indoors at the dining table, downstairs in the large "den," on the enclosed back porch, or outdoors! All the rooms are spacious and allow for our group of eight to spread out while working together. When we need a break, we can go for a lovely mountain walk by simply stepping outdoors and walking! The kitchen is wonderfully large and well-equipped, so that cooking large meals is easy. Alternatively, the closeness to the town allows for eating out without taking up too much of our precious time together at the cabin. This burro is a true gem in the mountains!

Great place!

We're a group of 8 guys who wanted a weekend away from the wives and kids so that we could act like boys for few days. The Cozy Burro was perfect. Lots of space to lounge around, plenty of couches to hang out on. Being mid winter we didn't spend much time outside, only as far as the grill. This is a great place to connect with family and friends. We were planning our return even before this visit was even half over.

About the host

Hosted by Richard

Host profile image
The Cozy Burro is owned by a Colorado family. We were looking for a mountain get-away to be able to host small groups and build family legacies. Our family spends countless hours of fun and quality time with friends and family here doing just that…building memories and relationships that will last forever.

Why they chose this property

After looking at hundreds of properties in both Summit Park County areas, we ran across this unique setting and fell in love. South Park is in the center of it all, has easy access, a more moderate climate than ski towns (even though it’s higher), and is less crowded. Fairplay is a quaint town with all the amenities needed for a getaway, while keeping the rustic mountain town feel. The surrounding mountain views are breathtaking, and the area truly feels like this is what Colorado was meant to be.

What makes this property unique

The Cozy Burro is unique for several reasons. The property and land is very usable, and has hours of hiking right on the property. The location is secluded, yet very close to town and amenities. It’s an easy jaunt to skiing, fishing, four wheeling, forest trails, hot springs, and much more. The property is easily accessible year round, and has plowing guaranteed. The home is updated, well laid out and comfortable. What we (and guests) enjoy most about the property is the comfort and design of the home, the spaciousness of the usable land, the ease of access to everything, volleyball court, hiking, and of course the award winning two 18-hole “Extreme Mountain Croquet Golf Courses” on the land. In the winter it turns into a wonderland for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and warming up by the fireplace after a great day of downhill at Breckenridge (without the high costs).
