About this property

TOR House

If you’re looking to enjoy the South Downs Way, the charming East Sussex town of Lewes or like the idea of being perched on the edge of an historic old racecourse then consider TOR House. With large comfortable living areas, four bedrooms, a separate three-bedroom annex (available to rent by separate negotiation) and views out across the valley to Lewes, you’re in for a treat. Unique feature items are dotted around the house, including aviation furniture and works by local artists and photographers. This is undoubtedly a house you’ll remember! A wood burning stove, with an ample wood supply, means you’ll be toasty in any weather, any time of the year. There is a fully enclosed garden area for dogs and children to enjoy, while a barbecue and outdoor seating area within easy access of the kitchen makes it even more family friendly and convenient.

TOR House is a 15 minute walk from Lewes Town Centre with its historic medieval castle, shops, many pubs and wide variety of restaurants. The town is a 15 minute drive away from the bustling city of Brighton and Hove whilst the seaside towns of Newhaven, Seaford and Eastbourne are also in easy reach. For opera lovers Glyndebourne is just a few miles away, as is Charleston Farmhouse, made famous by the Bloomsbury set and Virginia Woolf. If you are a history enthusiast, Tor House overlooks the site of the Battle of Lewes where Simon de Montford defeated the army of King Henry 111 in 1264.

TOR house also offers direct access to a complete outdoor experience, off road walking, running, cycling and horse riding. Bikes are available to hire on site, as are stables, so if you would like to bring your equine friends with you to stay we can accommodate that. There is an on-site weekend horse box bar serving a full range of drinks and snacks April to October, where guests are welcome to kick back and relax in a paddock whilst enjoying some of the best views in Sussex! If privacy is required there is access to a private picnic/bar bbq area in front of the historic racecourse buildings, which is perfect for meeting friends, family and games of football etc. Drinks and snacks from the bar can be delivered to you! If it’s a special occasion, party or event you could even hire the whole racecourse!

TOR house is in a unique part of the world surrounded by fascinating places to enjoy and explore. There really is something for everyone!
