Charming Converted Barn with Private Heated Pool

Our charming spacious barn offers four double bedrooms, three bathrooms, two lounges and a kitchen diner. La Grange oozes character with exposed beams, high ceilings log burner and stone walls.

Set in extensive grounds boasting a heated pool, there are sun beds and parasols on the surrounding tiled patio. There are garden games for all the family and table football to enjoy inside.

Our pleasant village Aulnay, offers a twice weekly market, boulangerie and patisserie, post office, banks and a couple of bars with restaurant on the outskirts for lunch, dinner or coffee. Aulnay is a short drive or an enjoyable walk/cycle across the sunflower fields. The Intermarché is open all week and on a Sunday morning. It stocks everything from fresh bread, meat and vegetables to electrical goods and sun cream! The adjoining petrol station is available 24/7.

The coast is just an hour away and the lively vibrant towns of Saintes, St Jean D’Angely and La Rochelle are within driving distance. The delightful islands ile de Re and île D’Oleron also offer great days out for everyone.

Relaxing Vacation

Very relaxing location with lots of space. The house is equipped with everything one needs and the pool is great! Hosts were very helpful and easily reachable.

Relaxing stay away from it all

Authentic French barn conversion surrounded by sunflowers. Lovely clean pool and bikes for our use. Supermarket close by. Alison was very quick with any queries and was kind when we had an issue with hire car.

Great host, property and location.

The host is fantastic with plenty of communication / information in advance. The house is large and really well equipped. Great pool / patio area. It’s set in a quiet rural area but with a big supermarket a few mins drive away. There are lots of wildlife including swallows, woodpeckers and birds of pray. The pool is the only open water in the area and attracts a lot of bees / wasps / flies. Other than that it’s perfect

This was a wonderful place to stay. The owners had thought of everything. Me and me three older teenage sons were Greeted with a lovely welcome pack of bread and wine etc. including loads of stuff for combating flies and they weren’t a problem for us. We had clear messaging beforehand and the owner messaged during the stay too. Met the guy who looks after the pool half way through and I felt if there was any problem we could have asked the owners for guidance. Lots of clean towels to use. The house was super clean and loads of stuff to use - bikes, games, pool, leads for all our gadgets ! Even they are big my sons loved the Harry Potter bedroom. Such attention to detail .! Alison gave us Lots of Ideas of places to go. Plus Every evening we could walk to the back of the back garden in woodland and fields of sunflowers - stunning . We tended to do day trips in the car to local towns and sites. Theres lots to see . You just have to drive about 45-60minutes - beautiful driving in the heart of French countryside. Thank you ! Hope to come back one day xxx

Un accueil irréprochable d'Alison qui nous a mis à l'aise de suite et nous à laisser une maison propre. Comme nous sommes arrivés un dimanche, de quoi faire un encas nous a été déposés . Une maison où l'on se croirait comme une résidence secondaire tant tout a été pensé comme tel : des jeux de sociétés, des draps fournis, babyfoot, des épices fournies dans la cuisine !..... Et la piscine, propre et tellement agréable. Les enfants ont adorés la chambre Harry Potter néanmoins toutes les chambres sont confortables. La literie : top !Un kit d'échantillons pour l'hygiène du corps offert dans chaque salle de bain ... Les enfants ont pu faire du poney à 1 min du logement.Nous espérons pouvoir y retourner très vite. Merci

Jolie batisse mais beaucoup de choses à réparer ( chasse d'eau, fuite, lave vaisselle, transat, infiltration, dalles piscine , poignéede porte) .Ménage très mal fait ( frigo même pas vidé, ni nettoyé) Beaucoup de choses qui trainent dangereuses ( clous, vis, bouts de verre, crochet de volet, poignée de porte coupante ) le revêtement de la terrasse est dangereux pour des enfants et tout simplement désagreable pour des adultes. Énormément d'insectes . La proprietaire s'est fichée de nos remarques sur les choses dangereuses , et n'a pas daigné repondre. d'insectes . La pas agreable ppur des aduktes

Séjour au top !

La maison est exceptionnelle, fidèle aux photos. Nous avons passé une excellente semaine, la piscine est très agréable et la literie impeccable. La maison est au calme, mais à 3 minutes en voiture d'aulnay et de l'intermarché. Les petites attentions des propriétaires sont très appréciables (bières, vin, confitures, thé...et même du gel hydroalcoolique).

Mooi huis en perfect voor middelgrote groepen om een week tot rust te kome

Wij verbleven hier met zeven personen. Het huis ligt in een rustige omgeving en sloot goed aan bij onze behoeftes. Alison en Gavin zorgden ervoor dat wij ons zeer welkom voelden en beantwoordden onze vragen snel. Het zwembad met bedjes was perfect om aan te zonnen. Het huis was van alle gemakken voorzien, waardoor wij konden koken wat wij wilden (bbq, oven en gasfornuis). Het was erg handig dat de supermarkt om de hoek was. De (bad)kamers waren schoon en prettig. Ook de slaapkamers zijn zeer ruim. Wij raden dit huis ten zeerste aan!

Prima huis met lekker zwembad

Leuk en goed ingericht huis. Heerlijk zwembad met voldoende zit/lig gelegenheid. Fijne eettafel buiten met bbq. Als het heel warm en zonnig is is er wat weinig schaduw. Leuk huis om met een groep of familie te verblijven.

August Aulnay stay

Lovely, well renovated property, perfect for a quiet, relaxing family holiday after a busy year. We found plenty to do with two teenagers in the local area and further afield, but also had some great days at ‘home’, relaxing, swimming, playing cards and games. Loads of space for us all to spread out, perfect garden for eating out and bbq. Well equipped kitchen and some lovely welcome goodies too. Just what we were looking for.

Très bon accueil. Nous avons été séduit par les merveilleuses attentions des propriétaires, ( thé, confitures, vins au frais, bières...) la propreté et la décoration soignée. L’environnement, le jardin, la piscine et les différents équipements nous ont permis de passer une très bonne semaine. On recommande !

We are Alison and Kevin from the South of England. We enjoy travelling, golf, pottering in our garden and looking after our home.
After visiting the West Coast of France in 2015, we had a dream of owning our own home there. The family continued to holiday in the area for the next 8 years. We wanted the classic 3 beds, 2 bathroom, near to a village! It took us a good year with several visits and numerous house viewings to decide on Les Granges aux Cerfs.
We love staying at our home in Aulnay and enjoy exploring the surrounding countryside, towns and villages.
Family and friends have now also enjoyed the experience so we wish to share our house with others.
Our home is cared for throughout the year and is always clean and cosy when we arrive and this is what you will find should you choose to stay with us.

Why they chose this property

Aulnay is just an hour from the coast, we love all the beaches accessible to us. From rolling waves to calm shallow waters, something for everyone.
Whilst being in a rural location with fields and woods, we are still in walking distance to the town centre. Aulnay has a fabulous supermarket for all the holiday essentials. There are 2 bars and a pub on the outskirts of the village square. Sunday market is a pleasure to peruse and take a drink in one of the bars. There are guided cycle routes around the area and you can of course run or walk these!

What makes this property unique

Our traditional stone home has been lovingly decorated and furnished with old and new items to make the home welcoming and unique. We have named the bedrooms and they are decorated in a slight theme!
We have double glazing throughout which helps in both the winter and summer too.
A large mezzanine makes it perfect for families.
The terrace stands proud of the fabulous heated pool with the large dining table seating 8 comfortably with a sofa corner for perfect evening drinks.
