About this property
Close to Loch Leven. Excellent location for travelling & keen golfers.
You are viewing one of Scotland’s hidden gems. Just 4 miles from the M90, we are ideally situated in a picturesque rural location with outstanding views across Loch Leven (famous for its brown trout) and Castle Island, where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned. Nestled between the Lomond and Bishop hills, with views across to the hills of Cleish and the Ochils, we are the perfect base to explore many of Scotlands cities and towns. The property is in a private village with little traffic, yet is close to several towns and cities. You are only 30 minutes from Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Stirling, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, St Andrews and only 1 hour from Glasgow. With great park and ride facilities, nowhere is out of reach! The area is well served by local farms who produce fresh seasonal local produce & gifts etc and there is a local supermarket in Kinross which is only a 10 minute car journey. The property is perfectly situated for Golfers as it is within easy commuting distance to Gleneagles, St Andrews, Carnoustie and other courses throughout the Fife and Perthshire area. You can also visit the beautiful coastal villages in the East Neuk of Fife, all very accessible by car. The historical village of Falkland is about 15 minutes away which was included in the famous Outlander series.
The House:
The house and the original buildings within the village were part of a former hospital which was built in 1918 to accommodate soldiers injured in the First World War. The following year the hospital became a sanatorium due to the air quality being pure so which remains today!!!
The house is an end terraced split over 2 levels with 3 bedrooms (can sleep 7). Upstairs there is a spacious lounge with balcony, There is sky TV, WiFi, a comfortable seating area and dining table situated within the living room. Upstairs there is a double front facing bedroom and a toilet room.
Downstairs there are 2 double bedrooms, (the second double bedroom consists of a bunk bed with double mattress on the bottom and single above), bathroom, well equipped kitchen, conservatory and terraced garden, the perfect place to enjoy a glass of something listening to the birds and passing wildlife.
It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy stunning views of Loch Leven and the surrounding countryside. It’s the the ideal holiday or short break destination for lovers of the great outdoors and who want to take part in the wide range of activities on offer in this part of Kinross-shire. The area is renowned for its cycle and walk friendly routes, golf courses, fishing, gliding and paragliding, horse riding, RSPB sites, Covenanter Trail and we are right in the heart of Outlander Territory!

About the host
Hosted by Kathryn Macrae

Hi my name is Kathryn and this property was the family home which I was brought up in from the age of 12 years. Due to our love for the home and it’s location we decided to offer it to guests as a holiday retreat. I moved on from Glenlomond to start my nursing career in 1996 and then had family of my own. Due to the wonderful memories of Glenlomond we decided to keep it to allow family, friends and guests to also enjoy what it has to offer.
