About this property

Beachfront property, 180 ocean view, fireplace, and private path down to beach.

Old-time 1970s beach cabin with fireplace and 180 degree view of Netarts Bay, Pacific Ocean, Three Rocks Wildlife Refuge, Cape Lookout, and Netarts Spit.

Not prettified or standardized, this cabin is designed for the ocean experience, winter or summer. From the fireplace or deck--or from your bed--watch seals and herons on the end of Netarts Spit.

No other houses block your view. The property borders the sand. Your private path winds through pines and huckleberries to the driftwood and sand.

According to one reviewer, the cabin exemplifies the Danish word, "Hygga," --the quality of coziness, solitude, comfort, and contentment. Pick huckleberries outside the kitchen door, September-October--or crabs and clams from the bay.

Kitchen is equipped: refrigerator, range, microwave, coffee maker, coffee bean grinder, wine & cocktail glasses, and gadgets; stocked with basics for cooking: spices, condiments, sugar, pots, pans, cookie sheets, etc. No frills but all you may need.

Grocery and restaurant within seven minute walk--by road or beach.

Bedrooms:
South Bedroom (1 double, 1 queen sofa bed),
North Bedroom (1 queen)
Bedrooms are at opposite ends of the Common Room.
Sheets are 100% cotton.

Communucations:
WIFI signal is strong for wide bandwidth communications.
Landline--remember the sweet sound?Roku TV.

Water:
No need to bring bottled water! Netarts' water is pure and cold and tastes good!

Parking: Covered carport for one car; street parking for more.

Common Room: Fireplace (kindling supplied), Dining table (6 chairs), leather couches, rockers, and a selection of reading lamps.

Deck: (20' x 12') overlooking beach, table and chairs (4) and recliners (2).

Beach toys: A selection of children's toys, and various crab and clam catching devices.

County boat ramp is 1000 feet to south.

Watch the tide tables!

What a hidden treasure! The location was incredible! We love how the property is outside of the touristy area and in a quiet, off the beaten path area. This allowed us to slow down the pace of our trip, take in a warm cup of coffee by the fire, enjoy many walks on a beach with very few people, listen to the sounds of the waves, and enjoy cocktails overlooking the sunset. There's a path down to the beach full of plants and a natural setting, reminding us to enjoy the journey. I love how the owners kept the "Brady Bunch" era decor, rather than making many updates. The older look felt comforting, and added the warmth that made us feel like the beach house had been in our family for generations. Everything was comfortable, convenient, and easy. The kitchen provided much more than any VRBO I've ever visited, with spices, oil, plastic wrap and foil, mixer, 2 cast iron skillets, waffle maker, plenty of dish soap and towels. There was more than enough firewood, kindling, and newspaper to enjoy a crackling fireplace to sit and read each night, and restarAll in all, this was completely the opposite of a cold, impersonal, hotel-like experience. It was comforting, relaxing, and felt like a giant hug on the ocean. Don't pass this one up!

Perfect Beach House!

Loved everything about this place from the wooden gate and fence to the old school charm and vintage decor and the easy walk to the beach. We did bonfires and roasted marshmallows until tides came up and put the fire out. Kids found sand dollars and met several nice folks walking along the shore.

Best Place on the Oregon Coast

We loved everything about our stay at this wonderful home. Pat and Kate are the ultimate hosts, providing helpful information about the area and making the entire rental process very easy and welcoming. Views from the property were amazing and we enjoyed short walks to the shoreline and The Schooner restaurant nearby. Looking forward to our next stay at this tranquil property! Scott and Libby

Netarts 9/24

Enjoyed the location and the cabin. Enjoyed our stay in Netarts. For the next renters: check the weekdays restaurants availability and be prepared to drive away unless you bring food with you. The bedsheets could have been changed providing a better experience to the fellow renters. It's hard to smell someone else's body odor in your bed!

Great view and get away

Great vacation spot. The towns were super busy over 4th of July weekend but thats to be expected. Charming little beach house on Netarts bay. Very cool vintage vibe at this house. Nothing fancy, just comfortable & cozy..."perfect." Great view of the ocean, good acess to the beach. Kids had a blast looking for shells and crabs etc. Sunsets meant for postcards. Thank you Pat & Kate.

I’ve been looking for a place like this for 20 years!

There is nothing about this house that I disliked. Located ideally and so private although there are houses on both sides. There are a lot of stairs to get to the beach which could be a problem for some people but for my family it just added to the beauty. We watched seals and an abundancy of seabirds and there was always something beautiful outside the window. I hope I can return someday.

Retro cozy

Nice place. Perfect location. Beautiful views. Great info from owners. Some deferred maintenance. Felt like it hadn't been occupied for a bit (bugs in tub and window sills). Definitely a place to stay again but not relative to the current price.

Beautiful views

This property is is the best location with the best views. Our teenage daughters were happy to get out of the hotel room and stretch out in a space of their own. We walked down the beach to Oceanside and Tunnel Beach. Drove down to Cape Mare to see the lighthouse and the overlooks. The host was available for questions and very accomodation for us. Cant say enough about this property and our stay.

Rustic, cozy and quiet

We enjoyed the stay, nothing different from the reviews that we previously read. Hosts are super friendly and helpful. Water is crisp and fresh from tap. Kitchen do need some update on the utensils - can opener, spatula for cooking and some others …

Needs lots of attention!

Not sure where to start on this review. While the view is a million dollar view, the house needs lots of attention. The owners seem very nice, but it seems they treat the rental as a place they let their friends and relatives stay for free. Upon arrival, there were dirty dishes in the sink, dishes left on a towel on the counter, beds not made, bathrooms not clean, tables and counters not clean. We called the owner to be told something must have happened with the cleaning people. It is advertised as cleaning protocols in place. There should always be follow up to ensure it is cleaned! So after a very long day of flying, we had to make up the beds, clean the kitchen and baths and basically the entire house. Owner did refund the cleaning fee. There is paint peeling on wall in one bathroom, TV would not work. Owner suggested if we had lap top to use it. We finally were able to figure out remote for fire stick needed batteries so we went to store and bought batteries. We got it to work, but fire stick is very old and needs upgraded. There is unpainted wood in kitchen (maybe a project in process?). They window blinds are a tinted plastic shade that do nothing to stop the sun at 5:30 am. No screens on most of the windows and none on the screen door. So flies came in when we had to open in late afternoon due to warm in the house. (No AC). Kitchen utensils are old and need replacing. Cardboard boxes stacked in den area with kindling fire starter are very unsightly. The owners did ask how they could make it right for us and offered additional days stay, but we had reservations somewhere else. And honestly we were ready to leave. The price is higher than several around it, but we chose due to no pets allowed and the cleaning protocols that were promised. This was our first trip since March 2020!

The VRBO listing was accurate in that this is an older campy home. However, it failed to mention the stairs from the street to the entrance, which I found problematic. I was also unable to navigate the path to the sand. However, the kitchen was well equipped, and we loved having a real fireplace, which we used every day. The location was great, but we weren't aware it only had on street parking...The camp style of the home was just what we wanted. We had bald eagles fly by a few times and watching the seals, herons, and huge flock of pelicans was amazing.I reccomend this home, but with the caveat to be aware of the stairs, and also if you are a larger person like me, consider bringing your own camp chair for comfort. The home was clean, and very well equipped. we had a wonderful time.

Best Stay Ever!We loved everything about this place. It saw a cozy 2 bedroom house, super clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The neighborhood felt super safe and walkout to the bay was an added bonus. We accidentally locked ourselves out and had to call Pat/Kate on a Sunday evening. They were super nice/compassionate and helped us out immediately. Hope to come back for a stay again someday!

Return visit

If you’re looking for someplace down to earth for the beach experience this is definitely the place for you. This is the second year that I brought my family to stay here and I have no complaints. It’s ideal for a family to stay and play. I am so glad that I introduced my grandchildren and great grandchildren to the Netart community. I just wish I had discovered it before I reached the age that I have. This was probably my last visit because it’s getting hard for me but what a visit it was. Paddle boarding, swimming, kite flying, you name it! What a perfect place.

Perfect Quiet Beach Getaway

Netarts and this beach house made for a perfect beach vacation. The kiddos loved playing on the beach just steps from the house. This part of the Oregon coast is tucked away and not busy like some of the larger tourist towns on the coast, even during peak summer seasons. The house has an amazing view and Tillamook grocers make it easy to stock the kitchen. The only thing it lacked was a functional grill but the pluses definitely outweighed this one negative. Pat has definitely earned a hearty 5 stars and we will most likely be back in the future. larger tourist

How it used to be

I loved this older house. It has character and warmth. You could walk from the deck directly down to the beach, and it was so quiet! You could look directly out from the bed, couch or table to see the ocean. Definitely a place to read😊

Spectacular views!!

Besides the spectacular views, the location of this property was perfect for our family vacation as it was a 2-minute walk to the beach, easy walking distance to the Schnooner restaurant, and easy driving to Tillamook, Oceanside, Garibaldi and Rockport Beach (places we explored). The home was clean, beds comfortable, and stocked with more items than usual from kitchen to bathroom to beach toys and clamming supplies. Overall we would highly recommend this property with its rustic charm.

About the host

Hosted by Pat & Kate Spurlock

Host profile image
Netarts is our escape to solitude and nature, a place to enjoy the fireplace any month of the year--to read, design, write, whittle, kayak, explore. Crabbing season is September - April; clams and oysters year round.
This has been our family cabin for forty years, and we share it to pay for its preservation.

Why they chose this property

Netarts is still the quiet uncrowded beach experience, unlike Cannon Beach or Oceanside. The cabin is on Pearl Street, which fronts pristine Netarts Bay, known for its oysters and Dungeness crab.

Even during winter months Netarts can be surprisingly like summer.

The cabin is situated so you feel you are the only people there.

Grocery stores, coffeeshops and restaurants are near by if you need them.

See webcam: "janescottvideoproductions.com"

What makes this property unique

This cabin is actually on the beach (unlike others that say they are) with unobstructed view of Netarts Spit that encloses Netarts Bay, and the ocean beyond.

Wildlife surrounds. Eagles nest above the house. Seals snooze on the spit between every tide. Pelicans dive in late summer.

Clams and crabs can be gathered at low tide (clams with shovel, crabs with headlamp and a long arm!) or at high tide with a boat.

Huckleberries grow on bushes surrounding the cabin, and in PROFUSION among the pines on the Spit! Bring your boat!

Sleep with windows open or sleep on the deck.
