The Granary (ref W43949) is a spacious barn and has been restored, taking care to use many of the original features and characteristics of its original life as a granary – the beams, the grain bag pulley system and other unknown objects have been put to good use. Both The Coach House (ref 15661) and Hog Pits (ref 18961) are all on one level and have a cosy wood burner. They all have an enclosed garden with lovely views over the countryside. The chickens and pigs (currently no pigs) are a delight to watch in their free-range enclosures. This is the perfect holiday base from which to explore the many attractions Wiltshire has to offer – just 5 miles from the M4 yet in a completely rural setting. There are many footpaths and cycle routes in the surrounding area, with the Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal towpaths also nearby. Within a short drive are the picturesque villages of Lacock and Castle Combe, both favourite locations for TV and film directors. Lacock features in Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice, and Castle Combe was the backdrop for War Horse.
Chippenham is an old market town with good shopping facilities and Devizes is on the Kennet and Avon canal with the famous Caen locks. Bradford on Avon is often referred to as a ‘mini Bath’ with splendid Georgian architecture and a bustling community. The Roman spa city of Bath itself is a short drive and a must-visit for a day out, with many famous sights to explore such as the museums, the abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Roman baths to name but a few. Bowood House has magnificent gardens and an adventure playground, and the famous ancient sites and stone circles at Stonehenge and Avebury are well worth a visit. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles. Properties 15661, 18961 and W43949 can be booked together to accommodate up to 14 guests.

Really enjoyed our week at the Coach House.
Really enjoyed our week at the Coach House. Very quiet and rural, but good choice of close’ish pubs for food and Chippenham only 10 mins away for any other provisions Friendly welcome and comfortable cottage. But ‘rustic’ in places but suited us very well. It is a working farm so expect a bit of activity but never affected us. Location good for exploring Cotswolds or Bath or Salisbury area. Would go back again

If you're looking for a quiet rural location, want to sit outside on a sunny day and enjoy the views
If you're looking for a quiet rural location, want to sit outside on a sunny day and enjoy the views, this place is perfect. The accommodation is fully equipped, comfortable and clean. A short drive to excellent local amenities in Chippenham and plenty of villages, towns and places of interest to visit around the area. If you fancy a trip to Bristol that's around 30-40 minutes away by car. Something for everyone.

Lovely position and very pleasant cottage with good facilities. We took two beautiful walks from the cottage. Had to shorten our stay due to the lockdown but will return next year.

The property is a little ‘tired’ but is still comfortable.
The property is a little ‘tired’ but is still comfortable. Comments in the visitors book indicate that the property is not very clean, but as it’s a old building located on a working farm it’s well within reasonable expectations. The family owners are lovely and really accommodated our 2 children. Our 15 month old had a wonderful time following the chickens around the farm yard! Goat and pig were fed by the children every day, and we even got shown some lambs that had arrived very late in the breeding season. We will definitely return here but would probably stay in another cottage on the farm as they are slightly bigger and more modern. Trying to accommodate a travel cot in this cottage was a challenge, and regardless of which bedroom it was in, it blocked access to the wardrobes...
