Penthouse balcony apartment with panoramic sea views across the English Channel
Fantastic apartment with dramatic sea views across to France. Relax out on the recently updated balcony and enjoy the beautiful setting, or get out and about and explore this underrated and special location.
Clifton Crescent is a Grade II classic Victorian stucco terrace that fronts on to The Leas, a magnificent promenade lining the edge of the cliff with multiple paths down to the beach, promenade and lower Leas coastal park, with children's playground almost directly below.
Accommodation is split over two floors with the master bedroom, lounge, kitchen/diner and bathrooms on one floor and two further bedrooms upstairs. Two of the three bedrooms have sea views. Two of the bedrooms have double beds and the third has two singles - that can be made into a double on special request. There is also a full size cot and a travel cot available for children.
The kitchen has loads of workspace, a gas fired oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and dining table that seats 6. Also included are a high chair and a booster seat for babies, in fact the flat has many extras for children. There is also a utility room with washing machine.
The property is within easy reach of the Leas Cliff Hall for shows, concerts, pantomimes etc. The immediate area is often used for activities such as mini marathons, Triennial art installations, bandstand performances, occasional classic car rallies and air shows (for which this has the perfect viewpoint!).
The town centre is only a short walk away for everyday shopping. Head down to the old High Street / Creative Quarter with it's bars, cafes and art galleries to the harbour, harbour arm and the Stade. Then on to Sunny sands beach, and if you enjoy a good walk you can continue beyond the east cliffs to explore the wild area known as The Warren.
Further afield you could visit Dover for its impressive castle, and there are ferrys for a day trip to France (if you have a car you can embark the channel tunnel train in Folkestone itself). Round the coast visits to the pretty seaside towns of Deal and Sandwich are worthwhile. On the western side perhaps travel around the bay through Sandgate and Hythe and out to historic Rye, or take a ride with the Dymchurch & Hythe railway through the marshes.
Inland there is the beautiful Kent countryside to explore, and a visit to bustling Canterbury with it's major cathedral, ancient buildings and excellent shopping facilities is essential.
The location is well connected to visit London with the High Speed (HS1) train service. Kings Cross St Pancras taking less than one hour!
Please also note that stays of a week (7 nights) or over also have a 15-25% discount depending on dates.
Please note that the property is situated on the 3rd and 4th floors, the stairs are wide and shallow stepped with several landings, but there is no lift available, so those with disabilities or difficulties climbing stairs should take this into account before booking.

Great location and beautiful views of the bay from the lovely little terrace. Apartment is very well equipped and comfortable. We had a great family stay.
Excellent location for a visit in Kent! Christopher was a 10/10 host, quick with responses and fixing any little issue. The flat had everything you'd need to make a vacation easy and worry free.
We spent a long weekend here and it has all you need to have a comfortable stay. The balcony is lovely and great for morning coffee. Location is great for the beach and town.
Great property with lots of space for family dinners and entertaining.
Fantastic place with an old worldly feel, nice and cozy. Location is ideal close to town centre and on the cost with great views over the Chanel from the balcony, smashing!
A comfy home, lots of space and everything we needed for a great stay. The balcony came into its own on a beautiful sunny weekend and the walk into the harbour along the Marine or the beach via Zig-Zag path was lovely. We would definitely stay here again if we came back to Folkestone!
Short walk (with lots of stairs) to the beach park and great views of the Channel from the balcony.
The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, the shower water had good pressure and heat.
We had a nice stay and would stay here again.
We enjoyed staying in Christopher’s Folkstone flat. Great location for day trips to Dover, Canterbury and Deal. Coffee on the deck each morning was so nice.
We stayed for a couple of days to attend a wedding. The apartment had everything we needed. We loved sitting out on the balcony in the morning. Christopher replied to all queries very quickly. I would definitely stay here again
We stayed for 3 nights and I must say that it was a splendid experience. The property location was wonderful, with ease of access to all amenities. At the end we really didn’t want to leave. The property was beautiful, the view was gorgeous - we are very pleased with our experience. Thank you.
Great location, great town, GREAT view, great owner!
Highly recommend! The location on the water right in front of the 'Zig Zag' path and super cool park with pebble beach is GREAT for families with kids 2 to 15. And Folkestone is just the nicest seaside village. The owner was extremely responsive, informative and friendly. Great get away in an English cultural seaside town with an amazing safe location with incredible place amenities.
Perfect location. Within walking distance to all amenities beach, bars, restaurants, town. Spacious and equipped with everything we needed. Very good communication with the owner who responded quickly if I had any queries. No problem parking outside the property. Will definately be back
We stayed for two nights, and found the apartment comfortable, well equipped, and in a lovely location by the sea. The view made the stairs worth the climb. Close to many interesting historical sites, beautiful areas for hiking, and several lovely restaurants. Communication with the property manager was great- quick and informative responses. Overall, highly recommend as a place to stay when exploring the Dover region.
A fantastic appartment with an amazing panoramic view across the channel to France.
We were in the area for a wedding and this was the perfect place to stay.
The owner couldn't have been more helpful when we regrettably had to amend our dates.
Hoping to come back to visit the area again.

We spent a very happy long weekend here.
It was plenty spacious enough for the whole family, the kitchen very well equipped, beds comfy and as for the view from the balcony, that was breathtaking! It was also so tranquil, no traffic noise at all.
You can walk to the beaches and the pier. There are many lovely vistas along the way.
All-in-all, this place was perfect for our family weekend away. We all loved it.
We stayed for 6 nights and were so very comfortable and relaxed. It felt like we lived there and got to see the comings and goings of the neighbours. The stairs.. yes there is a good amount of them but still worth it. Dont let that distract you from booking here. We would stay again and recommend.

About the host
Hosted by Mr Christopher Bagust
Brought up in Devon, south west England. Went to school in Canterbury (not far from Folkestone). Spent many years in London working in IT and audio solutions. Also I met my wife there, with whom I now live with in her native land, Spain. My mother's family were in the hotels and catering business and my great grandfather actually built a major hotel in London so maybe the will to host people has rubbed off on me!
Why they chose this property
The apartment was my Grandmother's and has been in the family for many years. As I live abroad and considering the amazing situation and outlook this place has I decided to let it to holidaymakers so others could enjoy it too. I have many good memories of staying there as a child and now my own children love it too!
What makes this property unique
Undoubtedly the view from the terrace is stunning. On a sunny day having breakfast out there with the Leas framing the view of the channel and France (on a clear day) in the background is a real treat. Locationwise the apartment is part of a classic English early Victorian crescent in the West End of Folkestone. It's also an easy walk into the centre of town and all the local amenities. Or you can just go straight down to the beach, visit the coastal park or stroll along the Leas instead. It's also very close to the Leas Cliff Hall if you have an event you want to attend there.
