Self catering holiday chalet Erisort

The two chalets, ‘Erisort’ and ‘Orisaigh’, are located within the village of Leurbost, in the North Lochs area of the Isle of Lewis, and a 10 minute drive from the main town of Stornoway.
Built from Siberian larch timber, each chalet sleeps 4 persons.

In addition to 2 spacious bedrooms, there is a fully fitted modern kitchen, a bathroom with shower, and a separate toilet. The open-plan dining and living room area commands extensive panoramic views over sea lochs and the hills of Lewis and Harris. Patio doors open onto an extensive decking area that is ideal for barbecues and outdoor dining. Both chalets provide wheelchair access and are suitable for individuals with impaired mobility.

The chalets are fitted with modern appliances and a WIFI connection is also available.
This is a truly inspirational place for all the family to enjoy their holiday and to return home with unforgettable memories of these magical Hebridean Isles.

Each chalet has an adjacent dog kennel and separate outhouse, which provides washing and drying facilities. Separate parking is available directly outside the chalets, with sufficient space for several vehicles. A licensed local shop, and petrol station, is conveniently situated within a short drive or 15 minute walk. The shop offers an extensive range of groceries and fresh daily produce. In addition, the shop complex features a hairdressing salon and small cafeteria.

As an additional attraction, guests will be able to enjoy the benefits of a well-fitted sheiling (bothy) called ‘Airidh Nisreabhal’, which is the Gaelic name for the nearby hill and loch situated in this majestic location. It is conveniently placed en-route to the famous and mystical ‘Callanish stones’ and is just a short 3 minute drive from the chalets. The sheiling provides an excellent vantage point for bird watchers and hillwalkers, or, alternatively, a place of tranquility and relaxation for surfers, fishermen, businessmen, honeymooners and indeed anyone else who would like to enjoy the peaceful island country life.


The Chalet is fitted with an Electricity meter which can be topped up at the local shop 1.5 miles away.

We spent a cosy 2 nights in the Erisort Lodge , everything was perfect . Comfy beds , good shower , well equipped kitchen . tons of local brochures on things to do , maps etc . The location of the lodge is perfect for both Harris and Lewis . We had a very friendly call from Christine before our arrival giving us directions and she even popped by after her nightshift to say hello in person at the lodge itself . What a lovely thoughtful thing to do . The silence and the views were wonderful and we ate delicious Loch Leurbost mussels in the Boat Shed restaurant in Stornoway. Would def recommend this stay to anyone

Great location great accomodation

The owner was great, really helpful about the ferry crossing - we stayed in Feb so the sea was bouncy. The accomodation was lovely and warm.

Wonderful stay

Beautiful setting, convenient location. We were able to see all the sites we had wanted on Lewis. If you are there on a Sunday, plan better than we did and either make a reservation at one of the few open restaurants or plan for take away. Chalet was everything we expected it to be.

The chalet was equipped with everything we could possibly need, and we received the warmest welcome upon our arrival. We cannot praise the chalets enough; they are centrally located with stunning views of the loch. We hope to visit again very soon

Lovely clean and well kitted out property in a good location with lovely view. We really enjoyed our stay part from the very expensive electricity meter which ticked over at an alarming rate.

Wished I could have stayed longer! Lovely chalet across from a beautiful loch and just down the street from The Weaving Shed -- a local weaver for Harris Tweed. Our visit to the Isle of Lewis was amazing.

This chalet exceeded our expectations. Never been to such a well equipped self catering accommodation ! Absolutely fabulous. And the view astounding. Impressed so much booked to stay for 2 weeks in 2023! Really couldn’t fault it. And the property managers so nice and friendly. Typical island folk!!

Best VRBO Experience since we arrived in Scotland!!

This is a beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom chalet with a million dollar view! It is immaculately clean and the owner’s pride ownership can be seen throughout this well decorated and maintained property. The host provided lots of informative reading information about Lewis and the kitchen was fully stocked. The host anticipates all of the travelers needs and is easy to communicate with. This is a five star property and if I ever return to Lewis I would definitely stay here again!

We met the very friendly and knowledgable owner and she was very helpful during Storm Amy when we didn't know if we were going to be able to leave the island. An absolute treat after a long time camping and in our motorhome with daughter hiking the Hebridean Way in pretty atrocious weather. Lovely to be in the cosy comfort of the lodge. Communication with Don was good and nice that Christine popped by in the first evening to say hello. Ask about the shelling - we didn’t have a key but had a peer in on our way up to Stornaway and it would be a fab writing or artist place while you are staying. Couldn’t quite fathom the electrics as the local shop wouldn’t allow us to top up meter but all worked out in the end. Recommended.

Great Location for Exploring Lewis & Harris

Erisort Chalet is in the perfect location for anyone wanting to explore Lewis & Harris as thoroughly as possible. We stayed for 5 nights & definitely could have used 7 nights to make it less rushed with our sightseeing. The cabin was quite comfortable & had everything we needed.I would have liked to give 5 stars but there were a few issues with: the cleanliness of the chalet, such as mould around & in the shower recess & a bit of dustiness here & there; with the guestbook not having the most up-to-date information in it, as well as an inclusion that supposedly came with the chalet not being entirely clear on the website or on VRBO; & I had to contact the host about the check-in process when I had not heard from him within the required timeframe. Small things overall but they added up.Future guests should be aware that NO electricity is included with the chalet. The guests pay for ALL electricity used. As a guide, we paid 26 for our 5 night stay, & this was required to be left on the kitchen counter in CASH upon departure when we would check the meter ourselves, so it is based on an honesty system. We had 2 rainy, cold days & nights, & the rest was fairly good weather for late April on Lewis. If these few items could be addressed by the owner, then Erisort Chalet would certainly be 5 stars. It should be noted that we made no complaints to the owner at the time of our stay as we did not wish any disruption to our holiday time to have these concerns addressed.

Lovely cabin with great view

Clearly lots of thought and care has gone into this cabin. Very clean and has everything we needed. Electricity was extra but even in February only came to just over 10/day. Host was lovely and welcomed us with cake and biscuits . Went home happy, having had a very good visit to the islands

Great loocation and Facilities

Lovely wooden chalet, 15 minutes outside of Stornoway. Great facilities with all kitchen gadgets you would ever need ! Two spacious bedrooms - one double ( super king ) and one twin. Separate toilet which is a plus 👍 Overall a great stay and highly recommended

Fantastic cottage and exceptional location

This is a clean, warm and comfortable cottage which is very well equipped. It has fantastic views over the loch. The hosts are exceptionally kind. For example, we notified that we would arrive late. It was dark and wet on arrival but our hosts had the lights and fire on and even the electric blanket. We had a super holiday and would definitely stay again. Mgt & Eddie, Livingston
