Needs to control flies getting inside house. Also should have working blinds/curtains to all windows. Nice kitchen.

Thanks Lynn for the feedback. I never have had reason to reply to a review, but I think this one deserves it. Flies happen in Vermont, we are in the countryside. I recall you told me at your Maine vacation last year you also complained about flies, so surprise VT gets them also; that is mother nature. That said, I had my house cleaner come up to clean any flies and she was available on call every day, but you did not call her back after the first day you arrived; I also reached out often to see how your trip was going and offered suggestions on places to go in Manchester and Woodstock. The only bedroom window that does not have a blind/curtain is one that faces the woods and meadow. Based on my experience with you, a hotel with kitchenette would be more suitable to meet your needs rather than a restored farmhouse, because from your comment it appears you missed the mountains surrounding the house, the spectacular landscape and colorful foliage, the pond with fountain, the glass house/family room (built in 2024) with restored 1800 post/beam original structure and 8' x 8' slate fireplace and 7' tall Marvin glass windows that look out to the pond and our private 15 acre meadow on our total property of 115 acres. All of that plus 3 modern bathrooms and 4 bedrooms (incl. 2 queen beds) with interior design furnishings at the disposal of just you and your husband with my concierge assistance apparently went either unnoticed or unappreciated.
Alex was excellent with communication. The house was unique and comfortable. The location was beautiful. Everything was very well thought out. Upstairs bedrooms were a bit chilly but Alex provided space heaters which made it all good. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of paper towels, napkins, utensils, foil/saran wrap, pots/pans/serving dishes, etc. Much appreciated. We enjoyed playing cards at the extra seating table and watching football in one of the cozy downstairs rooms. For skiing, Killington 35-40 minutes away, Pico closer at less than 30 minutes. We did not mind the drive at all to the mountains. A lovely place to stay!
Alex's house is a great place to stay for a weekend getaway! The peace and quiet coupled with surreal mountain views made for a memorable trip with friends.
Place was great. Spacious, clean and killer views. Kitchen is modern and well equipped making meals was easy. Very quiet location but still convenient to Killington/Pico.
My family of 4 stayed at Alex’s farmhouse for 2 nights for Thanksgiving. Directions and check-in were clear and easy. The property is off a quiet dirt road and there is a scenic pond near the house and amazing views. Upon entering the glass room, we were pleased to see how beautiful it was with all the windows, exposed beams and slate wood burning fireplace. Continuing on into the house, the kitchen was modern and updated with all the essentials for cooking while enjoying beautiful mountain views out the window. We loved all the antique rooms, furniture and pictures. It was a perfect blend and balance of antique charm with modern updates like the kitchen and bathrooms. Alex was a great host, communicating before, during and after our trip to make sure all was well. The property both inside and out was clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again when in the area!
Alex was extremely responsive and provided perfect guidance and recommendations for our stay. Property is charming and very well maintained. Pictures do not do it justice.
Great stay at a classic Vermont farmhouse. Easy ride to Killington for skiing. Very clean, easy location to access, and host Alex very responsive and accomodating.
This Vermont farmhouse in West Rutland combines a central location with a pastoral setting with amazing views of the Green mountains. Easy travel to Killington/Pico, and Woodstock, VT. Alex is an excellent host.
This was the perfect location for a family reunion over the holidays. Close to skiing at Killington, a variety of spaces in the house for different activities and moments of the day, the large kitchen was perfect for holiday baking and Alex’s guide provided great ideas for things to do in the area.
This historic home was filled with so much love, thoughtfulness and care. Alex was a great host who embodied the feel of his home. Perfect stay for my Birthday Ski weekend! Thank You!
This was a perfect property for us. The location with great views was matched by the character and quality of the inside furniture and attention to design details. It also had a very well appointed kitchen, better quality than in the usual rental. All in all, a place to soothe the nerves.
This was just what we needed for a quiet weekend visit to Rutland. The photos online don't do it justice, for the views from the hilltop are wonderful, especially at sunset and sunrise. We enjoyed cozy fires each night, and there was plenty of room for our family to spread out and have privacy when we needed it.
