Hideaway House is a wonderful period Grade II listed semi-detached property, hidden away in the heart of Wells-next-the-Sea on a quiet side road. It's just a stone's throw away from the delights of Wells quay and Staithe Street with its numerous shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. This delightful house is now a very well-equipped and maintained holiday home and is a great choice for families or a group of friends searching for a quality property in a fabulous location with parking.
As the name suggests, Hideaway House is very much tucked away and is contemporary, yet comfortable with a seaside feel which you will all adore, whatever time of year you choose to visit. The spacious and colourful kitchen is a haven for food lovers, with a Smeg range cooker to prepare wonderful meals using the array of local produce available in the town itself. However, if you don't fancy eating in, then you are well placed to dine out, as you are so close to all the best restaurants, pubs and cafes. With the bakers only a short stroll away you can pick up warm croissants and brew some fresh coffee on your return using the fabulous coffee maker provided, before everyone awakes.
After a busy day at the beach or exploring the coast, relax in the light and airy sitting room making use of the bi-fold doors which open up onto the pretty walled south-facing courtyard garden. The courtyard basks in the sun in the afternoon and early evening, so there is no excuse not to shut your eyes and enjoy a siesta or a sundowner! When the nights draw in, head inside and cosy up in front of the wood burning stove and enjoy good conversation. Three large king-size bedrooms (one with an en-suite, plus a second bathroom) and a bunk room with a full-size 3ft bunk bed to sleep two children or adults ensure there's ample space and privacy for everyone to retire comfortably on an evening too.
Wells-next-the-Sea boasts one of the best beaches in North Norfolk so enjoy lazy summer days sunbathing amongst the dunes and beach huts which are flanked by a stunning pinewood forest, or go for energetic embracing winter walks. If you are seeking some culture, then head to Holkham where you will adore the Hall, parklands and soft sands. If you don't want to go far but want some fun, hire a kayak or paddle board from the quay, or try a spot of gillying or crabbing (using whelks or bacon leftovers from breakfast as bait).
Cyclists will appreciate the covered storage area for bikes in the garden making it easy to explore the quiet lanes that make the area just outside Wells so special. If you prefer to be on foot, then walk the North Norfolk coastal path to Stiffkey or Holkham and you will be rewarded with stunning views and an abundance of bird and wildlife.
This property is also available to book for four people, with some rooms closed - Hideaway House (4).

We had the most relaxing stay at Hideaway House. I only wish we could have stayed longer. The house was immaculate and perfectly located near everything in Wells. We will definitely be back again.

An Unexpected Stay.
We were switched to 'Hideaway House' Wells after issues with the accommodation that we'd booked for a weeks stay in Brancaster. The move was very welcome but disruptive in what was supposed to be a weeks restful holiday. Despite that, we settled very quickly into what turned out to be excellent accommodation with immediate access to shops and Wells Harbour. The house was spacious, very well equipped, spotlessly clean beautifully furnished and very comfortable. It has a lovely courtyard garden - perfect in good weather. Access to the property from the parking spaces was via a step up and then several down to the courtyard garden or via an entrance in another street. Not ideal for anyone with mobility issues but once inside the house access was very good.

Hideaway House, the best location in Wells.
This was a return visit after first staying in Hideaway House some 8 or 9 years ago. In that time the house has been maintained in excellent condition and the bathrooms have even been improved.
Good to have a barbecue to hand which was put to use in the late sunshine. Facilities at Hideaway House are second to none, only the coffee maker failed to work but then again instant coffee is fine, (I think)!
Beds were a generous size as were the wardrobes, fittings, pictures etc were all tasteful and the welcome pack was much appreciated.
Staying at Hideaway House is something to really look forward to so it looks like a return visit for us next year.

Perfect location
Our first visit to the North Norfolk coast. Wells by the Sea is a perfect base. House has a central location so convenient for the quay and shops. Two parking places a huge benefit since the town's lanes are narrow and it gets busy. House was very well equipped for families/children.

Well equipped and comfortable house in a great position
We spent a fantastic week in Hideaway house.. it is perfectly located being only moments away from the cafes and bustling harbour front in Wells. There were eight of us including children and young adults but we were able to spread out and enjoy the well designed facilities. The kitchen / diner is amazing and we enjoyed many a happy meal round the huge table. We also cooked a couple of great BBQs in the secluded but lovely garden . Everyone loved the hideaway access to the house via a leafy tunnel - stepping into Narnia - is how the kids described it . Thanks for a wonderful holiday we all loved the house and would definitely stay again.

A Great Location.
a great house, superbly located. Very clean and well laid out. A 30 second walk to the harbour. We thought the property could be noisier than we are used to due to location, however this was not the case. Very quiet. Would happily stay here again. Only down side, no down stairs toilet.

Great week in Wells-next-the-Sea.
Hideaway House is a brilliant base in the centre of town. It offers good parking for up to three cars, if parked carefully, which is a major plus given it’s excellent location. Everything about the house was perfect and fully met our own high standards. Will certainly aim to re-book at a future date.
