Great for families. Great hiking trails nearby. The house itself is very well decorated and maintained with an artistry taste.

Angie,
I'm so happy you found some joy outdoors with your family. Your review is much appreciated and you're welcome anytime! Thanks for choosing Homestead as your home base.
Stay well,
Kaethe
Close to downtown New Paltz - although I recommend driving as the road nearby is busy. A place for kids of all ages - zip lining - trampoline - plenty of lawn space for Crowkett - beautiful art work inside & out - fresh flowers from the numerous gardens.
This is a beautifully decorated home with a gorgeous garden. The kids enjoyed the trampoline and treehouse and zipline. Many books and antiques throughout the home, and definitely doesn't feel like a typical bare Airbnb. I would definitely come again.

Thank you, Dahlia. We so enjoyed having you. When people find joy in books, art, gardens, mid century decor, and the entire beautiful area of New Paltz it’s very gratifying for us to host. Do come again!
Enjoyed a lovely December stay. Property is exactly as described. Our 3-year-old loved the art room and other kid toys/games as well as the backyard. We enjoyed sitting by the fire. Kaethe was very responsive and helpful.

Michael, really happy you chose to spend some time at our place over the holidays. I’m always so pleased when people make use of the art room! Glad you enjoyed the fire and outdoors. Come again! You’re always welcome. Cheers, Kaethe
We're very fond of the house and property. Great in the winter and summer.
In particular, Kaethe and her family really know their way around fire - everything is setup to be easy: charcoal w/ chimney, outdoor firepit for summers, indoor wood-burning stove in winter, lots of dry wood/kindling, and all the utensils needed to be safe.

Hi Michael- Thank you, once again, for your kind words about our home. We are so glad you returned and experienced it in a different season! We do indeed love a good fireplace sit and and marshmallows around a fire pit. We’re glad you saw all the supplies we provide to make it easy and fun. You are always welcome back to this home away from home in New Paltz. Hope to see you and your family again, and never hesitate to reach out in anticipation of a visit if we can assist in getting you something we may not usually have in the house. Warmly, Kaethe

Thanks Rob, for this lovely review. It was a pleasure to have you!
I highly recommend this property. My family was getting together for the first time in two years and needed a place for some of us to stay near my oldest son's home in the area. . Kaethe was extremely helpful, even going out of her way to find a pack n'play for the two year old. Besides the porches, zipline, and trampoline, this child-friendly home has a designated art room and an abundance of books and games for all ages. We look forward to staying there again.

Second time here! Girls (three 6 year olds) enjoyed everything again ,especially the outdoors tremendously. We had an early Easter egg hunt and they had a blast. Deck and front porch helped to soak in the spring sun. Thanks for sharing your home! We will be back!

It’s always a pleasure to have you all, Silke. Thank you for the special stick beds for the bunny and for cleaning the treehouse so well!
We stayed 4 days at this special place. The title was given by the 3 six year old who had a blast especially in the great outdoors on the property itself. Zip line, tree house, trampolin, the woods and grounds. Wonderful location, beautiful house packed with memories, plenty of space for the 5 of us (2 adults and 3 kids). We plan to be back in spring when enjoying the outdoors will be even better. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Exquisite New Paltz Stay
Kaethe’s house was exquisite. It has a great cottage feel and is surrounded by beautiful trees and a spacious garden with a tree house. The house was clean, beautifully decorated, and comfortable. It has everything you need, including toys for kids! It was perfect for us (two couples with two kids each). There is a great wooden stove in the living room, which kept us happy and warm from this year’s bitter cold December weather. It was great place to relax and snuggle up. We also enjoyed New Paltz which is friendly small town with lots of restaurants and fun shops.

lovely stay! Amazing house and host
The house was nice and cozy, very clean. The host was informative and provided us lots of information on where to go/eat etc. They have a cute little vegetable garden, the owners were so generous and told us we can pick some veggies from the garden, they were so fresh! It was a great experience for us "city folks" since we never get to pick/grow our own veggies. We had fresh, hand picked salad every morning! We hiked at the Peter's kill state park (About a 20 min drive away) and it was a nice hike (~3 hrs). There's also bike rental in the town and cute shops/restaurants near there. Overall, it was a great experience! We loved the town and the house.

We were so happy to host this group in our home! From the first correspondence Nora Lin was thoughtfully reassuring that her large group would respect our property. She asked excellent questions which helped us include additional details in our listing. But above all the group left our place clean, fresh and as as they found it. They were excellent guests and we would welcome them back in a heartbeat!

Beautiful Home in Beautiful Surroundings
Kaethe, the owner, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Her family's beautiful home in the woods outside of New Paltz, NY, was just what we needed to settle in for a family visit and to enjoy the fall colors and amenities in and around New Paltz. The home was very comfortable and we even enjoyed the fire in the fireplace stove insert on a cool night. Good place to get away from everyday stress and "hang out" with family and friends. Side trips to wineries, a distillery, good restaurants, and a nearby outdoor art park (Storm King Art Center) added to the pleasure of our stay. Commuter rail out of NYC has nearby stop in Poughkeepsie which is an interesting place in its own right. I recommend Kaethe and her home.

Thank you for your kind words! It gives me great pleasure when our love for our home and town translates Into a good time had by others. We're so happy it suited you all and that you were able to relax and enjoy. And thanks for leaving the place so tidy and as you found it! Best, Kaethe
Very comfortable and homey. Lots if little things for the 2 12 yr old boys w us. We were a little surprised that there was no TV; however, that afforded us more family time. Great location, close to the town of New Paltz. Very clean.
House was clearly lived in with lots of comforts and supplies. Very comfortable and we loved sitting on the front porch in mornings and evenings. Great location with ease to town, Mohonk, wineries and breweries. Just all around great experience
Kaethe was very communicative and responsive. Checking in and out was seamless, house was very clean and had everything we needed and more. Definitely would stay here again!
We had a great experience at Kaethe's property. The house was equipped with everything we could have ever needed, including lots of games and toys for our kids to play with (a life saver as our trip ended up to be quite rainy). They also loved the yard and all the things to do there. The proximity to the rail trail and all things New Paltz couldn't be beat. Most of all, Kaethe was so warm, helpful, and responsive. She gave us all sorts of resources and advice to get the most out of our stay.
We had such a happy and relaxing time at Kaethe and David’s place. It was very kid friendly, from the art room, to the backyard and the kids’ room. Our children just had a blast. We love the eclectic and artsy feel of the place and the location is very convenient. The kitchen was well equipped and we got to enjoy having dinner with a view of sunset. It’s evident that they are hosts who cherish this place and enjoy sharing it. We would love to come back!
My friends and I wanted to get out of the city for a long weekend and do some hiking, and this was such a nice place to stay. Kaethe was super friendly and responsive, and the house was very clean when we found it. Slept five adults - one couple and three singles - comfortably. (Two slept in the kid's room and were fine with that.) Only complaint is that the heat seemed to make clanging noises at night, which woke a few people up. But other than that, was great to have such a fully stocked kitchen. Living room was super cozy and we loved making a fire at night. It was wintertime, so we didn't get to take advantage of the yard, but seems great, too! Overall, we had a lovely weekend.

Emilia, You and your pod were super sweet to have and so nice to find the pastries left for us in fridge. Thank you. 🙂The baseboard heating creaks a bit when it goes on and fills with water. Sorry that disturbed you. It’s a typical sound for a house. Come again in spring when the flowers are blooming and there’s no heat necessary. That’s my favorite time of year!! Take care, Kaethe

Great house in New Paltz NY
This is a very comfortable, warm and interesting home and a great place to stay when visiting the New Paltz area. We had a family group of 6 adults and 2 children and everyone enjoyed the weekend here. We found everything we needed including a wood stove (with wood and kindling) and a grill (with charcoal). Nice kitchen with all utensils. 10 min from town and a few minutes to a 25 mi hiking trail. Owner was easy to communicate with. Only note is no TV (at least we didn't find one) if that matters to you. But there are plenty of books and good wifi. Would definitely rent again.

About the host
Hosted by Kaethe
We moved from the city to this gorgeous part of NY just a year ago and have been lovingly upgrading and decorating our home. We fell for the cool details, wide wood plank floors, mid-century lines and ambling layout of the house. The wooded grounds consist of rolling dells and soft lawns. Several noble old growth oak and elm tower over the cedar and hickory trees. We are a professional clown and a playwright and the detached artist workshop is a boon for private contemplation or work for us as a couple. The green sprawl is a child's natural wonderland and our daughter loves the purple treehouse (open to all!).
Why they chose this property
It offers space and privacy but is centrally located. It has a bountiful organic garden of its own and is minutes from any other libation or food source you might want. Excellent star gazing. The house has a truly beautiful lay out and flow.
