Village Gite on the Vezere River

Lou Mitan Gite:

In the parkland grounds of an old stone farmhouse, perched above the Vezere river, this gite is ideally located for exploring the Dordogne and Vezere valleys.

Interior:

The gite comfortably sleeps up to 6 people. On the ground floor there is a light, open plan kitchen, dining and living area (including a wood burner for the winter months) which opens onto the private garden terrace. There is also one double bedroom with doors onto the terrace and a separate toilet and shower room. Upstairs are two further bedrooms, one double and one twin and a second shower room.

Outside:

Immediately outside the gite is a small private garden and BBQ area. This comes complete with a table, chairs and sun umbrella for alfresco dining.

In addition to the small private garden, all guests staying in Lou Mitan have full access to the house gardens including a private heated swimming pool which is gated and secure. The property also offers a good range of games including table tennis, badminton, and boules. For younger children there is also a garden slide and some swings.

Surrounding Area:

There is so much to do here it is difficult to know where to start. The walking here is wonderful, and even on the hottest days the woodland walks provide plenty of shade. There is a beautiful riverside walk to the nearby village of St Leon sur Vezere, which takes about 40 minutes. In St Leon are some lovely riverside cafes and bars, along with a small number of arts and craft shops. It is a popular destination for the many canoeists making their way down the Vezere river. We would also recommend a visit to the world famous Lascaux caves, which are only ten minutes away in Montignac. They are suitable for visitors of all ages. A visit here gives you an appreciation of just how far the human race has come over the last 20,000 years. If none of this is for you, you can always relax by the pool with a book.

Séjour de rêve à tous les points de vue. Gîte dans un cadre absolument charmant, merveilleusement fleuri, piscine très propre avec terrasse ,dans le parc, jeux à disposition ping pong Badminton, Babyfoot. Accueil très convivial de la part des propriétaires.

Charming vacation house with beautiful garden.

We loved staying at this charming house. The house was fully equipped and even had some ventilators that came in very handy during the hot days. It's located in a small village a few 100 metres from the river Vezere. It is very close (often walking distance if you like a bit of a hike through the forests) to some famous tourist attractions. The owners were very friendly and easy-going. The house and the garden were kept well and there was a large pool that was cleaned daily. We can definitely recommend this place.

Relaxation personified

Lou Vitan was absolutely ideal in every way for a totally relaxing break from everyday life back home. Perfectly isolated in a beautifully historic village perched on the Visere, with all amenities we required within easy reach. In addition we were superbly greeted treated by our marvellous hosts Claire-Louise and Bruce. Highly recommended .

Needs a bit of renovating

Lovely location, pool area and gardens. . Kitchen very worn and dated. Dishwasher only worked on one programme and cutlery drawer in dishwasher had holes and cutlery fell through. Bathrooms both need updating. WiFi advertised but didn’t work at all during our stay. Relied on restaurants and cafes for internet access. We think the extra charges for cleaning are too high as we were also asked in the rules to take away rubbish and leave the house clean with beds stripped etc.

Magnifique propriété! Charme et calme assuré

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine au gîte de l’enclos, magnifique propriété au bord de la Vézère, rivière tranquille qui passe à quelques mètres du gîte. La région du Périgord est splendide, beaucoup de sites pré-historiques à visiter, des merveilles géologiques tels que le gouffre de Proumeyssac à 30 minutes où les grottes de Lascaux à 15 minutes. Il y a aussi à proximité (5 min) la possibilité de faire de belles balades à cheval et en canoë. Claire Louise et Bruce sont très attentifs au bien être de leurs hôtes. Nous avons passé de merveilleuses vacances.

Séjour parfait :calme et repose dans un très bel endroit

Nous avons passé un très bon moment dans ce gite qui est très conforme au descriptif. L endroit est merveilleux, le jardin très beau et la piscine appréciable pour se rafraichir. Les enfants ont adoré tous les jeux mis à leur disposition (table de ping pong, babyfoot, balancoire , salle de jeux avec livres et BD ...) Un petit coin de paradis. C'est la deuxième fois que nous passons nos vacances dans ce gîte et nous sommes toujours autant ravis. Nous avons pu découvrir plus largement cette région tellement riche de beautés, et nous nous sommes reposés car le gîte est dans un environnement très calme et verdoyant. Enfin par ces temps de canicule la piscine a été très appréciée Monsieur et Madame SPILL sont des hôtes d'une grande gentillesse. Ils sont accueillants et charmants et nous avons eu plaisir à les retrouver cette année.

Arrives vers 17h30 avons été accueillis par les propriétaires qui sont d’une extrême gentillesse. Le gîte correspondait parfaitement au descriptif et des spécialités locales nous attendaient sur la table et une excellent gâteau aux noix de Madame Spill. Lits faits et très propre. Une très belle terrasse nous permettait de prendre l’apero En toute tranquillité. Beau coin piscine avec matériel pour s’y détendre. Mr et Mme Spill sont des gens très discrets et n'hésitent pas à changer un matériel defectueux . Séjour à recommander

Très beau cadre pour se reposer, se ressourcer en famille ou entre amis

Un cadre qui appelle à la détente. Jardin très bien entretenu, piscine chauffée avec transats, gîte très charmant, cocon et bien équipé. Un très bon accueil avec un panier découverte de produits locaux et un gâteau préparé par la gérante. Un service pour avoir du pain frais le matin, c'est bien agréable. Une salle de jeu pour petits et grands avec baby foot, jeux de société, livres, dvd, espace dessin pour les petits... Un plus pour les jours de pluie. Seul hic les salles de bain. Problème de ventilation, d'où une humidité quasi permanente. Dans la salle de bain du rez-de-chaussée pas de fenêtre pour aérer. Dans celle à l'étage la fenêtre est condamnée et la vmc fonctionne mal. Du coup il fait chaud et humide dans la chambre attenante (celle avec les lits jumeaux) ce qui n'est pas terrible. Le Wi-Fi est très capricieux. Nous en garderons un bon souvenir et recommanderons ce gîte sans hésitation.

Nous avons passé une semaine dans ce gite, confortable et bien équipé. Dommage le temps n'a pas été au rendez vous et nous n'avons pas pu profiter de la magnifique piscine. Le parc qui entoure le gîte est immense et tres bien entretenu, il dispose de jeux pour les enfants, ce qui a été très apprécié par notre petite fille. La propriétaire est une dame charmante. Elle nous a accueillis avec une corbeille de bienvenue composée de produits régionaux , un gâteau fait maison, et un joli bouquet de fleurs fraîches était posé sur la table. De sympathiques et fort agréables attentions . C'est un endroit très calme à proximité de nombreux sites à visiter. Je vous le recommande Francine et Philippe

Très agréable et bien situé

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine en famille en juillet. Le gite est très agréable, au calme dans un joli parc équipé de plein de jeux et occupations pour les enfants. Une place magique /ein zauberhafter Ort

C'était un sejour très, très magnifique. Un jardin plein de fleurs. Une gite très belle et confortable. Une ancienne ferme, absolutment calme, dans un petit village avec une eglise. Mon mari e moi etions très heureux d'avoir trouvé cet endroit en Périgord avec des locataires très sympathiques e génereux. Chez notre arivée Madama avait cuit au four un gateau de noix, une spécialité de Perigord, qui etait excellent. Je veux recommander aux tous les gens, qui cherchent un gite en Perigord! auf Deutsch: es war ein traumhafter Ort, in einem großen Garten voller Blumen. es gab einen Swimmingpool, der wunderbar war, vor allem in der Nachmittagshitze, wenn man von den Besichtigungen nach hause kam. Die Ferienwohnung selbst war absolut comfortabel und sehr schön; ebenerdig mit Terrasse und Liegen, gut abgeschirmt von den unmittelbaren Nachbarn – durch eine duftende Jasminhecke, deren Aroma besonders nachts sehr intensiv war. Die Vermieter sind sehr nett; sie wohnen im Haupthaus; sie sind da, wenn man etwas braucht, aber absolut diskret. Ich möchte diese Ferienwohnung allen empfehlen, die ins Perigord fahren und Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit schätzen. Elisabeth Aslan und Wolfgang Bayer

Nous avons passé de très bonnes vacances dans ce gite! La location est spacieuse et bien équipée. Idéale pour un séjour en famille avec la très belle piscine, le jardin bien équipé pour les enfants et la salle de jeux qui est un plus. Les propriétaires sont charmants, très serviables et discrets.

BONHEUR!

Gite confortable conforme au descriptif dans une propriété et parc magnifiques avec un espace piscine très agréable et une petite salle de jeux charmante dans une maisonnette en pierre(restaurée par M Spill, Bravo!) Présence discrète et bons conseils de M et Mme Spill attentifs au bien être de leurs vacanciers(encore merci à Mme Spill pour la livraison de pain frais chaque matin!) Activités sportives, restaurants, sites d'exception et beaux villages à proximité. Quant à cette région...on comprend pourquoi l'homme s'y est installé : berceau accueillant avec ses rubans de rivières, ses vallées verdoyantes qui s'étirent le long des roches préhistoriques...majestueux!

Having run our own retail business in Norwich, in the East of England for nearly 20 years we decided that 2019 was time for a new challenge. A home in France was something we had always talked about. Claire-Louise's parents had recently sold their house in Vence in the Alpes Maritimes and we all missed spending time there. Our three children have studied french and were very supportive of a move across the Channel.

It didn't take us long to find and fall in love with the Perigord region and especially the Vezere Valley. It has it all! Friendly people, outstanding countryside, tranquility and great food.

We love meeting people from all over the world and sharing this beautiful region of France seemed the perfect new venture.
