Summary:
Located in the small hamlet of Pinchinthorpe, Lowcross Cottage is a luxury getaway in North Yorkshire. This charming bungalow is ideal for those looking for a relaxing break. A perfect match for nature-lovers and keen walkers, the cottage is less than a 5-minute walk from Guisborough Branch Walkaway. Here you’ll find 3 walking trails, one cycling track, orienteering and a play area. There is also a café which serves breakfasts and lunch as well as tea and cakes. You can also enjoy countryside walks in Guisborough Forest and explore the National Trust routes of Roseberry Topping and Captain Cooks Monument.
Sleeping up to 4 guests, Lowcross Cottage is perfect for families and groups of friends.
The Space:
Lowcross Cottage is packed with charm and style. The spacious hallway leads to the living room directly ahead. In here you’ll find a warm and homely space where you can enjoy quality time with your loved ones. Fire up the log burner and get cosy. There are two large, comfy sofas to relax on and you can open up the double doors to let heat drift in during the summer months.
The open plan kitchen and dining area is seriously stylish and modern. With grey cabinets and glossy worktops, the space has been refurbished to the highest standard. You’ll have everything you could need as the kitchen is equipped with an oven, fridge, toaster, kettle, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. There is even a coffee machine so you can make a fresh coffee each morning!
Outside you’ll find a paved area with seating and a table. You can enjoy alfresco lunches in the afternoon sun and a glass of bubbly as the night rolls in.
The main bedroom is a sophisticated and elegant space. With a large, comfy bed and matching wooden furniture, the room has a boutique hotel feel. It is a tranquil haven where you can come to relax after a long day of exploring the area.
Perfect for children or teenagers, the second bedroom has two plush beds. This room is complete with ample wardrobe space and a large chest of drawers.
The bathroom certainly has style. The neutral space features premium tiles, a glossy vanity cabinet and a huge walk in shower.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
There is private parking available on the property for up to four vehicles depending on size.
The Neighborhood:
Just a short walk from the cottage is Guisborough Forest and Walkaway. Here you’ll find 3 walking trails, one cycling track, orienteering and a play area. There is also a café which serves breakfasts and lunch as well as tea and cakes.
The market town of Guisborough is located on the edge of North York Moors National Park so you have plenty of walking routes to explore. In the centre of the town, you’ll find a charming, cobbled high street which is lined with shops, cafes and pubs. Visit the English Heritage site of Gisborough Priory which dates back to the 12th century. Here you’ll find the dramatic skeleton of the 14th century church's east and outstanding Gothic architecture.
Less than 10 minutes away by car you’ll reach Great Ayton. This idyllic village is perched on the banks of the River Leven and was once known for its industries in linen making, tanning, brewing and mining. Today it is a quaint and pretty place to visit. Enjoy an afternoon stroll and enjoy an ice-cream from Suggits, the traditional sweet shop which is a firm favourite with the locals.
Getting Around:
Lowcross Cottage is within 15 minutes’ drive time of Saltburn, Great Ayton and Stokesley. Coastal towns and villages like Whitby, Sansend and Staithes can be reached within 30 minutes by car.
Nunthorpe Train Station is a short 5-minute drive from the cottage with routes to Middlesbrough and connecting trains to Darlington, Newcastle, York, Leeds, Manchester and London.
There are plenty of bus routes throughout Guisborough. Hop on the Arriva X93 which travels from Middlesbrough through to Scarborough, with stops in Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay along the way. Join the M3 bus route to explore the Moors with stops in Danby, Hutton Le Hole, Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley.
