About this property

HoneysuckleCottage-NorthDevon dates back to the 1800s, converted from farm stables and barns, it is set within a courtyard with far reaching views of the countryside and the coast. Nestled on the outskirts of West Down village and just a few miles from the beach, is this delightful little two bedroomed cottage set amongst large gardens. It is the perfect base for exploring and enjoying the stunning North Devon coast, Exmoor or the many nearby attractions any time of year.
The property includes a lounge , small kitchen complete with hob, superb multi function microwave-oven (can be used as a microwave or conventional oven) newly renovated shower room. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed with twin set up option and the other room with a double bed. The cottage has a smart TV with access to Netflix and iPlayer etc. All linen and bath towels are provided. Free WiFi.
Suitable for couples, small families or two/three friends. One dog welcome. Dog exercise field.
The cottage has plenty of outdoor space. The front door leads onto a grass courtyard where a patio seat seating four is for our guests to use. Behind the cottage is a rear garden with BBQ area, games rooms, tennis court and further large gardens. Free parking. Bicycle racks available.
The village of West Down is a 10 minute walk where there is a pub with restaurant, shop, church and playing field with children’s play equipment. Local woodland walks.
Ilfracombe is 3 miles away and its delightful harbour, Woolacombe is 5 miles away with its long sandy beach stretching to Putsborough. Beach cafes dotted along the beach where you can watch the surfers in the sea. The Tarka trail and South West Coastal path is within easy reach. Walking maps available on request. Lundy Island, Clovelly, Exmoor, The Milky Way, Rosemoor Gardens and Dinosaur park are among the many local attractions. as well as surf schools at Woolacombe, Putsborough and Croyde.
We accept one dog (two if only two humans). Whilst we have large gardens, dogs must be kept on a lead. However we have a dog exercise field. It is best to have use of a car, although there is a good bus route to Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Barnstaple within a 30 minute walk to the bus stop.
Bikes can be hired in Braunton and Barnstaple.

About the host
Hosted by Lindsey Jones
We bought Honeysuckle Cottage at the end of 2019 and since then we have been updating and renovating the property. We live with our three children, adorable black cocker spaniel and two cats.
Why they chose this property
We love Honeysuckle Cottage for its idyllic location, you really do feel like you’ve had a holiday after a few days. The view across the countryside towards the sea is such a wonderful sight and on a clear day you can see Clovelly (well just about). Whilst the cottage is in a rural location we are not far from the beach, Ilfracombe or Exmoor so plenty of things to do and visit. We love walking and have enjoyed exploring parts of the South West Coastal Path during our stays and are more than happy yo recommend walks and maps are available for guests to use.
What makes this property unique
North Devon is such a beautiful part of our country especially for its coastal walks and beaches as well as for its stunning countryside Our daughters enjoy surfing while we exercise our dog on the dog friendly sections of Woolacombe beach. The wildlife is incredible, if you are lucky you can spot the seals sun bathing at Morte Point whilst walking the coastal path.
