About this property
Charming Farm Cottage, Far Reaching Views Of Devon , a rural escape!
Escape to this charming, freshly refurbished, south facing cottage, part of an old hilltop Devon farm with far reaching views across rolling Devon countryside. It is far from busy roads and the stresses of every day life, yet the Atlantic coast is only 15 minutes drive away.
The cottage is lovely and warm and has a secluded south facing garden and free use of a private tennis court just 30 paces away (not quite Wimbledon standard but still fun)! You can roam the fields the cottage stands in although you might come across the occasional sheep!
Torrington market town is only 3 miles away and has all the amenities you will need including family butchers, bakers, grocers , gift shops , tea shops , art/music centre (The Plough) and even it's own small market.
R.H.S. Rosemoor Garden is 4 miles away and has 65 magnificent acres of gardens to explore.
The Atlantic coast nearby has great surf as well as surf/kite surfing schools , miles of sandy beaches and the fabulous coastal pathway not to mention North Devon's own Hockings ice cream vans!
Inland there are the two National Parks ,Exmoor and Dartmoor both within easy reach for walks and out door adventures.
The Torridge River and estuary are well known for bird watching and fishing, there are also 9 golf courses in North Devon , the closest of which is 3 miles away (Torrington).
Find tranquillity roaming the ten acres of fields and woodland on the farm or simply relax in the private, enclosed, garden with a cup of tea and one of Torrington's famous Chelsea buns!
Fresh and bespoke, recently renovated, the cottage has character.
Sleeps 4 with 2 cosy bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (one with power shower, one with a bath/shower), an airy lounge with beams and open plan kitchen with locally sourced slate work tops and a ceramic hob and fridge. There are plenty of books , games and DVDs/CDs for relaxed evenings in too.
The mezzanine bedroom has 2 single beds and has far reaching views to the west.
The cottage is lovely and warm and has adjustable radiators in each of the rooms.
The cottage is private and peaceful and has an altogether 'away from it all' feel to it . The main farm is just up the lane.

About the host
Hosted by Jenny and Alastair Bremner at the farm

We wanted to bring up our two children in the countryside. We love the sea and walking on the moors and were attracted to North Devon because of its away from it all feel. We like to support our local towns, Instow and Torrington which have all the shops we need and are very friendly. We all play music, Alastair -violin and flute, Jenny -cello and double bass , Cathy - piano and banjo and Jim - guitar and drums and have got to know lots of musicians locally.
Why they chose this property
The farm had been in the same family for many generations and when we discovered it nothing much had changed. We even found the old cooking pot which used to stand above the open fire! We fell in love straight away and the farm's renovation has given us a life long project ever since!
What makes this property unique
We love living on top of a hill , there's lots of light and big views. We are away from the coastal tourists yet close enough to decide to go for a quick swim in the evenings after work! Whenever we feel in need of culture our local lively art centre , The Plough, gives us live music/cinema/theatre etc so we have the best of both worlds. Also there are lots of cosy pubs serving real ale where we can go after our out door adventures!
