We loved staying in this higgledy piggledy cottage. It is so well stocked in the kitchen and is warm and cozy. The beds were comfortable. We loved sitting and looking at Verity and the harbour.
Loved the location overlooking the harbour, nice to sit out and take in the view. The house had everything you need for your holiday, the only extra thing that would have been helpful would be a stairgate for the top of the stairs.
The property is in an ideal location with easy access to town and also for starting a countryside walk. Inside was lovely with a small cottage feel, nice kitchen area, very comfortable lounge and comfortable bedrooms and a great walk-in shower. The garage was great to have and we easily got our Honda HRV in. Thurs evening is RNLI practice night and we had a great viewpoint.Host was very responsive to messages but we had no issues at all.Would recommend staying here and it is on our list for another visit.
We absolutely loved our stay here. Ideal location, close to everything. The house was great, really quirky with a terrace with an amazing view of the harbour. Clean. Amazing shower. Great communication with Liz. Would highly recommend. The garage came in very handy. Thanks Liz for the treats and hopefully we will stay again.
the house was equipped with everything we needed, Excellent high quality toys which gave great enjoyment to our little grand daughter. The walk-in shower room was also first class. The attached garage was a great bonus. Many good restaurants are only a few minutes walk from the cottage. The communication and support from the host, Liz, was very prompt and helpful when we contacted her with a query about the central heating. We all had a very pleasant stay, Thank you.
This is the most adorable cottage right on the harbour. The cottage has everything you could possible need and check in and out process was very easy. The host was very helpful and communicative. There are quite a few stairs in the cottage but good handrails for all and makes a unique layout. We were lucky enough to see the lifeboat launch for practice on the Thursday night. The location is perfect and you can easily walk into town, to the beaches and around the harbour area. I would not hesitate to recommend for a holiday in Ilfracombe and the North Devon coast.
This has to be my new favourite house! Its wonderfully quirky with amazing views over the harbour. Close enough to get to the beach and shops in minutes but out of thr way enough to enjoy the quiet.
The cottage was very clean and comfortable, I've not slept that well in a longtime! The kitchen had everything we needed and the information books were a huge help.
The balcony overlooking the harbour is fantastic, I spent so long enjoying the view (and the breeze), people watching and the Lifeboat practice on Thursday (at 6pm) was really good, such a great view.
I very highly recommended Manor Cottage and Liz (the host) is an absolute pleasure to deal with. I would (and will) be back in a heartbeat.
Excellent holiday in a fantastic harbourside property
We had a really relaxing stay in a fantastic property, in an amazing location in the heart of Ilfracombe overlooking the harbour. Even the weather in November was kind to us and didn’t stop us exploring.
Excellent location and place just as advertised. Only Let down by 2 things. It could have been cleaner - Toilets we bleached to make clean and cushions on sofa needed hoovering especially underneath. Finally, parking a problem as street full and had to pay for 2 days parking out of 3 day stay. Next door might not need to keep parking posts up any longer that restricts access to garage, so worth a follow up
We couldn't fault anything about the property, location or owner. The owner has decorated it immaculately, mixing contemporary with old. Sitting out watching the world go by on the terrace was great. We were left wine and biscuits, tea, coffee and milk for our arrival which was gratefully received. Would definitely recommend. We can't wait to return as it's a little gem.
The house was so comfortable: unfussy, attractive, and just so relaxing. The deck overlooking the harbor was addictive--we just couldn't get enough.
The location is great for accessing the harbor and the High Street, but still quiet.
Would love to visit again!
We had a fantastic week. The cottage is full of character with an amazing terrace right on the quay. Lots of good walks right from the door and plenty of local pubs and restaurants.
Our second stay in this cottage. Great place and great locarion. A coupke of minor probkems were sorted out impressiveky fast and we have no complaibt at all. All in all superb.
Excellent location; so close to the harbour, restaurants, places of visit and local amenities
As mentioned in our review, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The view from the proper large balcony is absolutely stunning! Just a little thing like having to buy own kitchen towels and extra toilet rolls didn’t really matter.
Manor Cottage is a delightful, quaint holiday accommodation commanding a wonderful view of Ilfracombe harbour, including Damien Hurst's Verity statue, St Nicholas Chapel high on the hill, Elephant Rock and the sea beyond.
Wow wow wow this is the second time we have stayed in this beautiful home it’s massive, quirky, parking on site in your own garage beds are so comfortable and the balcony is just amazing and the views are great we didn’t have to use the car, so much to do and see just love it can’t wait until next year
As a family with two young children, we like to spend as much time near to the sea as we can. We always enjoy the time that we spend at Manor Cottage and have made every effort to make it feel like home. We are interested in good design and skilled craft, and feel that the Cottage reflects something of that, and as a result it feels like a good place to be, even on those rainy days we all have.
Why they chose this property
We have spent many happy holidays on the North Devon coast over the years and have long had an affection for Ilfracombe. A bustling town with its own beaches and close proximity to fantastic coastline and countryside, it still has the feel of a traditional Victorian seaside resort. With a range of local independent shops, restaurants and galleries, as well as the cinema and much loved museum for the children, we have often spent a week here with no need to leave the town.
What makes this property unique
Manor Cottage has given us the opportunity to swim before breakfast and dine on the beach. We have eaten fish caught that morning while watching the fishermen unload their boats on the quay below. We have discovered the joy of returning to a place that we and our children are familiar and comfortable with, where we know that we will be welcome. We hope that you will find the same and once you have visited, decide to do so again.
