Detached Coastal Fisherman's Cottage with Amazing Sea Views.
Experience life by the sea in Scotland. Not just a coastal getaway, your cottage is the seafront itself. Explore the rugged coastline, observe marine life, soak up the sea air and discover a truly historic area.
We have restored the property without altering the original form to maintain its authenticity. The property is a traditional fisherman's cottage with exposed beams and a sunroom with uninterrupted views over the sea. Unusually for a property in a fishing village, the cottage is detached, has private parking for 3 cars and a large garden, loved by families and nature lovers.
All year round you can see dolphins swimming up and own the coast with tides. Grey seals are resident on the rocks and you can hear them calling. Puffins nest nearby in Findon Moor. Enjoy a break wave watching from the bottom of the garden then warming up by the wood burning stove.
The cottage is cosy and comfortable with all the basics like wifi, dishwasher, netflix and central heating. Plain White hotel grade China , pure cotton bedding and high tog duvets.
There is plenty to do along this stretch of the coast- sea kayaking, wild swimming, diving and snorkeling. Great cod fishing occurs from the rocks all year round. In summer the mackerel return in good numbers. Lobster and shore crabs can be caught from the rocks with care. There's a lobster pot and crab line. Climbers go bouldering on the rocks near the bay. At the other end of the village is a small pub for a bacon roll brunch and a pint.
It is a perfect get-away location for nature lovers with wildlife watching opportunities of dolphins, porpoise, peregrines, gannets and puffins. On rare occasions Minke and Humpback whales have been sighted. The surrounding rocks are home to many coastal plants.
Many people use the cottage as a base from which to see local attractions, including the imposing Dunnottar Castle, serene Crathes Castle gardens and Royal Deeside.
Stonehaven is home to an outdoor olympic-sized heated swimming pool and is famous for the fireball display on Hogmanay.
The surrounding region is really beautiful offering some of the best castles in the world - Crathes, Drum and Balmoral. Great gardens and parks and grand mountain landscapes of the Cairngorms. The county is famous for its golf courses and increasing recognised for its cycling routes.
The cottage accommodation offers: Ground floor: Living room with Amazon Firestick and Freesat Smart TV. Double bedroom. Dining table in sunroom and in kitchen. Bathroom. All on one level. Kitchen: Double electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Bedroom 2: Single bed (1 or 2) in loft room; perfect for kids. Bedroom 3: Single bed in loft room; perfect for kids. Bathroom: Small bathroom with shower, toilet and heated towel rail. Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen, and towels included. Large lawn with small patio and garden furniture. Garage to store bikes etc. Ideal for couples or small families.
Pets are welcome if you take special care.
Access and parking for normal cars is easy but we don't suggest trying to park a large vehicle such as motorhome. 4x4 are fine. The cottage is off the road. The garden is fenced at the end of the garden but supervision in the village and on coastal paths is needed for young children.
The cosy cottage is situated in a small, peaceful, former fishing village, offering good transport links. It is just ten minutes walk to a train station on the east coast main line connect London and Edinburgh.
For legal purposes, we are only able to allow a maximum stay of 31 consecutive days.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We’re delighted you enjoyed your stay and that your dog had such fun in the garden — it’s always wonderful to hear our four-legged guests make the most of it too! We’re so pleased you found the cottage and location perfect for your holiday, and we’d love to welcome you back again in the future.
We loved the garden which was ideal for the dogs. The location suited us as it was near our family. We were a bit disappointed that the pub within walking distance wasn't open
This cottage was just as described! The kitchen was well stocked with all that we needed for making our own meals and we enjoyed lovely views at the table while we ate. It was a perfect place to take our teens for scrambling over the rocks on the shore, and finding the cliff path all the way there!

Thank you for your kind review. We’re delighted you enjoyed the cottage, the views, and exploring the coast with your teens. And a special thanks for sharing your photos of the coastline near the garden, they really capture the beauty of the location!
We stayed for 5 days but plan to return for a week next year. It have everything you needed and many extras on top. To stand at the end of the garden and watch the dolphins was magical.
Lovely warm cosy cottage with all we needed for the stay, fantastic garden with beautiful views, small fence at each end and it felt very safe for our dogs who loved it. Lots of places to visit in the area. Very peaceful location, yet minutes drive away from shops etc for supplies. We saw the dolphins and seals from the bottom of the garden, it was perfect. Thank you for letting us stay, hope to be back one day.
Glad you got to see the dolphins - they moved so quickly.
Thank you for being great guests and we hope to see you return one day 😊

The accommodation has a lovely seating area with a view of the sea and a very cosy living room. Unfortunately, the kitchen is in a state that does not invite you to cook. Some textiles and blankets could be replaced.

Amazing location.
Perfect location for us and a lovely little property. Very easy to get to and from Aberdeen in around 15 to 20 minutes. Property needs a bit of upgrading, particularly to the kitchen. Property is smaller than expected and the angled ceilings upstairs make these rooms better for smaller children. Amazing sea view, quiet and with outdoor space/garden. Garden isn't enclosed which is good to know if you are bringing a dog.

Thank you for your review — we’re so pleased you enjoyed the location, sea views, and garden space. We appreciate your comments about the kitchen and layout; guest feedback is always valuable and helps us gauge differing expectations. We have lots of photos online so people can see what our cottage is like in advance. For clarity, the garden is fully fenced to a minimum height of 32 inches, just like any garden supervision is required if you are concerned for your loved ones and they like to jump!!. We’re glad you had a pleasant stay overall and hope to welcome you back again.
It was our second time in this great house. It is perfectly situated in a small cul-de-sac and offers unrivalled views of the sea. It is lovingly furnished and nothing is missing. We would love to come back.
Beautiful location, property as everything you need for a self catering holiday.Only problem we had, was it wasnt fully enclosed for our 2 dogs and they could have escaped down the cliff to the sea and that could have been dangerous. But didnt spoil our stay, we just kept them on leads when leaving the cottage.I would suggest upgrading the green sofa in the room, after a weeks stay my back was broke. Overall, it was a lovely cottage in a lovely location, unfortunately we didnt see any dolphins but everything else was lovely.

Thank you for your review and for your kind words about the cottage and its location.
Just to clarify for future guests, the garden is fully enclosed, with fencing all around to a minimum height of 32 inches. Before your booking, we explained this so that you could decide whether it would be suitable for your dogs, and many guests with dogs have found it acceptable. For this reason, the comment about it not being fully enclosed isn’t accurate.
With regard to the sofa, it is an Ercol sofa — a high-quality brand renowned for its craftsmanship and comfort. We appreciate that comfort can be a personal experience.
We’re glad you enjoyed your stay overall and hope you had a relaxing holiday.
