Hi Guys I appreciate you taking the time to write a review. We spend a lot of time and effort during the off season to maintain the units so off season vacationers have a great time. This unit is a block away from the beach and I'm glad you were able to launch your kayaks and get to enjoy the bay. Look forward to your future visits. Best Liz

I doubt there's a better value in town

With most of the choices in Ptown fitting our requirements renting for close to or over $1000 we thought this condo was too good to be true. We were wrong! First of all the photos don't do it justice. It's much nicer than it appears and the highlight is the wonderful patio. I think we spent almost every possible moment there and ate most of our meals outside. Also I've never been impressed with local eateries, so that worked out for us. Also the bed was super comfortable and it looks like the bathroom was remodeled recently. The closest to a negative was the kitchen. The fridge is very small but this was not a problem for us, as we just visited Stop and Shop (4 mins by car) several times. Also I understand the kitchen is to be remodeled soon. It's in the west end which imho is the nicest part of town. The water is perhaps three minutes away on foot, with downtown minutes away too. I would agree with the owner and others that no more than two people should stay in this unit. From eight or nine week long stays on the Cape this is our favorite place to stay. I expect we will rent it again in the future. The owner should be commended for offering such value for money.

Great Place in a Fantastic Location

I was lucky enough to book this place for two weeks and was extremely happy with the place as well as my contacts with the owner and realty agency. The unit is just as described. The living room is quite large and includes a dining table, although I preferred the meals cooked at home out on the amazing patio/deck! The patio was spacious and comfortable for breakfast, many dinners and drinks before heading out for the evening. It was so nice on my day of arrival to come in to a clean environment with the windows open to a wonderful breeze. Some have mentioned that the kitchen was small, but I found it perfect for my needs. I was able to cook on the stove top and in the oven, which is lacking in many units in town, which have a microwave and toaster oven. I also had friends for dinner so it worked well for me. It also made things easy to clean up. The location was also perfect. I was close enough to everything happening on Commercial Street, but far enough away that I didn't have problems with noise late at night (or even during the day). This was true even though I was there for two of the busiest weeks of the year. I was on a working vacation and was able to use the dining table for my work while watching people walk and bike to the beach and artists setting up to paint views of the harbor. I also loved being close enough to walk out along the breakwater frequently. I will definitely rent this unit again. Every part of this experience was positive for me. The people involved treated me respectfully throughout the entire process and could not have been more accommodating. The space was comfortable and its location could not have been better.

Lovely, cozy place in a serene part of town

My partner and I had a really nice week in Ptown, and this place was what we needed. It's not really a place for more than two people, but three could make it if you know each other really well, and it is laid out in a way that really maximizes the space. If you're planning on doing a lot of cooking like we were, be prepared for a really small kitchen with a mini fridge. Totally fine for us, but may not be for others. The best part about this unit was the deck, which is where we spent most of our time. Your have privacy, but you can also say hello to people walking by in the West End. It's also close to town (and the Boat Slip), so that was nice. Will definitely rent again.

While I appreciate the review I do have additional information. The condo is 400 sq ft and one of the largest 1 bedroom units in the West End. The living room is huge and has a 6 person dining table. The bedroom is large with a queen bed and a large walk in closet with your own quiet line washer dryer. The fridge is not a mini fridge. It is the size of a dishwasher that fits under the counter and is three times the size of a mini fridge. You can put four days of meals in the fridge which is what you need for a weeks vacation. Lastly I rent to two people not 3 or 4, although there is a sleep sofa if the 2 people want to sleep separately. This is a great unit one block away from the neighborhood beach at Captain Jack's Wharf.

Great property...lousy neighbors

This property and the rental process were just as advertised...efficient, friendy, and the unit was very clean. All would have been well had it not been for the people who live on the second floor. They kept us awake till the wee hours of the morning every night with pounding, banging, running, and I am not sure what else...It was loud, it was constant, and it was unpleasant. On our very first night I went to their door at one thirty in the morning to express my views on the lack of neighborly consideration.....but the next night they were right back at it. I would like to rent this unit next year. I would like to recommend it to others...but I will do neither as long as these folks are upstairs. Murray Henry

My sincere apologies to the vacationer. I have a realtor manage the property and they are the most responsive agency in the town. They work so hard to be responsive. They are professional, organized and honorable. As the owner, I am totally invested in the vacationer having a great vacation. I go thru great lengths to make sure their stay is a pleasant one. If you look at my off season rates for both properties I list with Homeaway 106583 & 106580 you will see that my rates are ridiculously low. In the off season I try to attract folks that don't want to spend much on accommodations yet they want to enjoy the amenities that high end places offer. We didn't have much money growing up and our vacation was always in the off season. So it gives me pleasure when people love my places. In this instance had the vacationers reached out to the realtor or myself (I leave contact information in the units) at the first occurrence their vacation would have been a totally different experience. I feel terrible that this happened. There are 3 units in the association. We are a small group of owners and we have instant communication. The other owners would have responded and addressed it immediately. Finding out after my vacationers left made it impossible for me to take care of the issue. The vacationers notified the realtor after they left and the realtor immediately sent me their message. So we all communicated quickly to make everyone aware but there was no opportunity to address as both units now have new occupants. I woke up this morning to this review and felt I had to respond. I hope my response provides a sincere explanation. I have been renting my units since 1988 and this has never happened.

Peace and Proximity in the West End

We stayed in October 2010, and had a wonderful time. It was our first time in the West End, and we immediately fell in love. Just blocks from the western bend of Commercial street, this property offers great proximity to the center of town (a lovely 10-15 minute walk) as well as the quietude the West End offers. The condo itself is simple, clean, comfortable; its best feature is the patio, complete with a grill. We instantly became West End-ers, and went online while there to check availability for next summer.

Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary.

We were in town celebrating our 20th anniversary and the rental unit was perfect for us. The unit itself was clean, comfortable, quiet, private and nicely furnished. It had everything we needed. It was also in a great location. It was in a very quiet part of town which made for very good sleeping, and the queen sized bed was extremely comfortable. We were able to go hiking, bird watching, to the beach, to church, and take leisurely strolls into town all without moving our car. But the best feature of the rental unit in our opinion was the very private back porch. It was open so we could enjoy the beautiful ocean breezes, and it was covered so we could take advantage of it rain or shine. We had chickadees visit us there while we had our morning coffee, and every evening we lit candles, burned incense, and enjoyed a bottle of wine. Very romantic. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we will definitely be coming back.

Condo to small

The problem is the pic makes it look like the entire house is yours and there are 3 condos in this location, the bathroom is in the bedroom, and people have to go thru the bedroom to get tot he bathroom, We were out of toilet paper, and paper towels and had to go buy them.
Response from VrboOwner on 22 March 2020
Point 1. The pictures show a huge house....it is impossible to believe the house is a 1 bedroom condo. The advertisement says the unit is a 1 bedroom condo. The private entrance is clearly marked in one of the photos. In addition, I show pictures of the front entrance with 2 front doors, clearly showing more than one unit. The photos & advertisement clearly state this is a condo not a one bedroom home. The rental rate is for a 1 bedroom condo not a 1 bedroom home. The rate is also below market rent. Point 2. The bathroom is not in the bedroom. The bathroom is off of the bedroom in another room. This unit is for 2 people, not four. I checked with the neighbors and I now understand that 4 people stayed in the unit when I believed I rented to 2 people. So the other 2 people stayed on the couch in the living room and yes, it probably was crowded and felt uncomfortable, but the unit is 400 square feet and only accommodates 2 people, not four. So I can imagine if the 2 people staying on the couch had to use the bathroom, they were definitely intruding on the people in the bedroom to get to the bathroom, but how does that call for an unfair review. Countless bedrooms have bathrooms. This is a condo not a restaurant. Point 3. Of course they ran out of toilet paper. I stock enough for 2 people and guests, not four people and the guests of four people. If they had told me there was going to be four people staying I would have stocked enough paper goods for four people. But first I would have tried to get them to rent my other unit which accommodates 4-6 people very nicely. I have been renting this unit for 23 years. I have a significant amount of retention. I am booked thru September. Everyone knows they are getting a condo. No one ever thought they were getting a one bedroom home. I have a cleaning company in town, and the renters could have called me to ask for additional paper goods but they did not call to give me the opportunity to respond. Instead they prefer to write an unfair ad. That's ok, first one in 23 years. Please, if you took the time to read this response, please return to my pictures and see if you really think this is a one bedroom home. I am truly sorry the people were unhappy. I try so hard to make people comfortable.

I am very accessible. You can reach me at The Bike Shack 365 days a year 24 hours a day. In the pic, I am in the one in the gray sweatshirt with a long time friend who pulled a surprise visit last fall. Hadn't seen her in way too many years. I own the Bike Shack, a family business. In she walked to see me after 38 years. Living here has been my dream. We rent great well maintained bikes at the lowest rates in town. We all work hard to make bike riding in Ptown a great experience. I grew up in NYC and came to the Cape every Labor Day weekend when I was a kid. I love watching people enjoy the town. There is so much to do and many hidden jewels that are easily discoverable. The minute you walk out your door it happens. Have a great summer.

Why they chose this property

I have owned this unit since 1987. I fell in love with the space right away. I make improvements every year and I have a lot of the same people coming year after year. I love taking care of the space and while I get it ready for the season I think about the people that are renting and can feel how they will feel when they walk in. The space is so comfy whether you are sitting in the living room, taking a nap in the bedroom or sitting enjoying a cup of coffee on the deck. If you don't feel like going to Herring Cove you can walk down the street and enjoy a beautiful neighborhood beach that is next to Captain Jack's Wharf. Come spend whatever time you are able to manage and I guaranty you will come back.

What makes this property unique

The Seasonal rates are very reasonable, just a tad below market. The off season rates are zany. No one has low off season rates like these. I offer the low rates because I can. In the off season we attract people that hope the place is everything we say it is. Off Season Rates as low as $600. I can't think of a thing we are missing. Well ok we don't have a pool, but the Provincetown Inn is up the road and they welcome visitors to come and use their pool and beach. They have very good hamburgers, fries, chicken fingers and salads and they have a full bar. Park your bikes near the pool and swim your heart off.
