A Special Note: January 2025

Dear friends and guests, we apologize that Yvetot has been unavailable recently, but our daughter has been living with us since July 2024 while she deals with a serious health challenge. We miss seeing you all and know you miss staying in our lovely cottage, so we have just begun making dates available for guests when possible. Enjoy a cup of tea snuggled up in one of the bench seats. Cook a gourmet meal in the fully-appointed kitchen. Feel the warmth from the wood-burning stove and the radiant-heated floors. Appreciate the views of Mount Vision from the private deck. Listen to the sound of the birds as you soak in the hot tub. Relax in the peace and tranquility.

This and much more is Yvetot Guest House. Designed and built from largely recycled materials in 2003 by our architect son to accommodate visits from our ever-growing family, it is truly a magical place which we love to share. It is ideal for couples, family vacations and anyone seeking a quiet retreat, but is not suitable for parties or group gatherings.

Yvetot is a mile up from the town of Inverness and close to ocean-side and bay-side beaches. Hiking trails abound from just up the street and you are minutes away from the spectacular beauty of Point Reyes National Seashore.

The house, which is 800 square feet, comfortably sleeps six people: two in the master bedroom and four in the 'children's room' - two twin beds and two twin futons with sleeping bags in the loft.

Yvetot has Wifi, plenty of DVD's, CD's to play on the Bose music system (into which you can plug your phone/tablet), books, games and toys to entertain everyone.

Incredible weekend!! The home is so stunning and cozy, the views are unbelievable, the hosts Mike and Katherine are so kind and warm. We loved the outdoor shower, the hot tub, the deck. Amazing location, close to great hikes and kayaking. We felt so relaxed all weekend. Very well-stocked kitchen in terms of cooking equipment as well!! Thank you for having us to your beautiful home! Yvetot is pure magic. We came from San Francisco to escape the city, and this home was the perfect retreat. Gorgeous architecture, a dreamy outdoor shower and hot tub, and an ideal location near beautiful secluded beaches, hikes that feel like you’re in Europe, and amazing oyster farm experiences. Mike and Catherine were wonderful hosts- warm, responsive, and thoughtful and kind! Another wonderful stay :)

We had a fabulous time at our stay at the Yvetot cabin. It is a beautiful location and property and Mike and Catherine are gracious hosts. We have stayed here a few times in the past, and it is one of our top getaways. It is relaxing, quiet and well appointed with everything needed for a great stay. The hot tub and outdoor shower can not be beat. Highly recommend.

Amazing Getaway

My family of 5 had a wonderful time here! The cabin is secluded, cozy, unique and in the most beautiful setting! We hiked, relaxed on the deck and in the cabin, explored the coastline, Point Reyes Station and Inverness. A great little getaway! Mike couldn’t have been more welcoming or gracious! A perfect host! Highly recommend choosing this property!

Great retreat

We selected this rental as a home base for day trips with our family in the Point Reyes area but it was such a comfortable place inside and out that we ended up spending a lot of time at the property. The photos don’t do the place justice. It’s high quality and clearly an extension of the family’s home for guests.

Exquisite cottage

Quiet and secluded, this cottage was built to take full advantage of the site. There are many windows and great views. The cottage is very efficient with radiant heat in the floors and lots of recessed lighting. There is hiking right from the cottage with a hot tub and outdoor shower to enjoy when you return.

Best vacation rental ever

This is the most special vacation rental home we have ever experienced (and I have traveled all around the world). The location up on a hill has a gorgeous view of the forest, hills, and birds. It reminded us of being at a mini Esalen or an eco-lodge in Costa Rica or Dominica. Mike was an incredibly friendly and welcoming host. My husband and I hope to return many times with our children over the years!

This was our third visit to Yvetot. We were happy to be greeted by our lovely and gracious hosts, Catherine and Mike, after a Covid-delayed visit. Inverness and Yvetot are as special as ever. We were delighted to find Yvetot unchanged and even better than we remembered.
