Nothing was clearly marked, and the hosts failed to meet us when we arrived. The wife of the couple was there, but she ignored us so we figured things out on our own. There was an email sent to me with instructions and information about a week before arriving, but without cell reception is was unable to access the instructions. Further, when we got to the cottage we realized that there were no bed linens, trash bags, paper towels, or toilet paper. There was a coffee machine, but no filters. After getting the WiFi password and checking the informational email I was sent, I saw that the host explains in an FAQ that these things would not be provided. I expect information like that to be part of the description of the property so that I can opt for another more inclusive experience elsewhere. Lastly, the description of the property makes it seem like it is on a lake, but that is not true. Lake access is a quarter mile walk through muggy, boggy grass. The beach is micro sized and is the only lake access available besides a tiny, rickety pier. The “resort” aspect of this experience was virtually nonexistent. I will not be staying here again. I resent having to spend extra time and $$ going to town for bed linens and toilet paper. For the price, these things should be included/provided without having to ask. The lake was beautiful and had lots of fish, but one of our kids was hooked with an old lure in the water by the beach, so swim with caution. The cottage was musty with the cheapest and least comfortable seating and beds possible, a rickety table and chairs, and only an uncomfortable futon to sit on. A tiny tv too far from the futon was not practical, and many of the dishes were dirty.

We're sorry that the cottage didn't meet your expectations. The listing clearly states that the cottage you selected is about 150 yards from the waterfront, near the woods. It was also just renovated in 2017 with all new furniture at that point. Lakeside Melodies is a nature resort where our guests enjoy the outside, campfires, swimming, fishing and canoeing/kayaking around our lake. We have seven cottages, often with multiple people arriving at the same time. One week prior to arrival, we make sure to send every guest a list of what to expect here, what to bring, and what we provide. We ask guests to check in with us at the house and we'll show your your cottage, but some guests choose to get settled on their own, which is also fine with us. We'll check with you later. If a guest misses reading our email, we are happy to provide what you forgot or work with you. Just let us know at the house or give us a call and we will take care of it for you.
Wonderful place to relax and get off the grid! Our family enjoined the property.

Not great but could be ...
Easy check in. Plenty of space for a small cabin. Nice new fridge and stove. However there were ceiling tiles falling down in one bedroom and we couldn't use it. Called asap, owners said they would take care of it right away but never did. So I didn't bother to tell them when we turned the heat on it woke up a bee's nest that was apparently hybrinating in the ceiling 😳 One of us was stung 2 times on the face. Also the water smelled extremely bad. They could be a really nice stay place with a few tweeks. We would consider giving them a second chance in the future.
This cabin was great! The cabin was spotlessly clean and very roomy. The property is far enough out of town to be very quiet, yet only about 5-10 minutes from historic downtown Three Rivers. We didn't use any of the recreational amenities, as it was winter when we stayed, but I'm sure the lake is fun in summer. Our host was gracious, and check-in/check-out couldn't have been easier. Definitely would stay again!
It was a great stay. The place was very clean and a Good Value.! The only thing was that VRBO charged me for two cabins and we only stayed in one obviously. Stayed only in Country Cottage. Dennis

Weekend away
Renting was easy. I was moved to a couple of different cabins but mine ended up right on lake. There was no where to sit as the only living room furniture was a futon that did not sit upright. But lots of pillows solved that!
It was quiet and I loved the picnic table on my patio for painting.
It was exactly what we were looking for, an escape from our routine. The beach is great for kids, nice and gradual with a floating dock always out to jump off of. Kayaks, row boats, canoes with life jackets to rent. There are some beach toys there as well. The wifi and air conditioning window unit was a fantastic bonus, especially with kids. We had a great time and will be back!
I must say up front that I felt the description of the property lacked a clear representation of what the property is. I thought I would be renting a private home on a lake, but the property is actually a small resort with several homes/cabins on the small lake.
The home was very clean. The building looked like it is in need of repair, but everything was clean.
The home/cabin uses well water which is important to note, because the smell of the water is pungent. We were told that the water was safe to drink, but we brought our own water anyway, and were glad we did. Washing dishes and taking a shower was a challenge because of this. We all brushed our teeth using bottled water.
There is basic cookware and utensils to use. I would suggest bringing your own. The cookware is very well used and should be replaced.
We did not use the grill provided, and I would recommend that you don't. It was very old and dirty. If you want to cook out, bring your own small grill.
The lake was great. The beach area was small, but sufficient. The water temperature was perfect, and we made good use of the raft in the lake. We did not take advantage of the boat rentals, but they looked like a lot of fun.
The area is nice and quiet. There is a lot of nature to appreciate. Bring binoculars for some good bird watching.
You are only a short ten minute drive from Walmart or Meier, and all of the usual strip mall stores and fast food restaurants.
Again, I was disappointed that the property was not more private; however, it was not crowded, so it was not a real issue.
I would recommend this place for a nice quiet getaway, especially if you want to spend some time in the water. For the price, it is a good deal.
Great place!! Relaxing and beautiful. I don't know how anyone could give a bad review. Great location, excellent fishing, and peaceful. If you read the info it's spot on. They tell you exactly what you would need and we never had any issues. Bill answered any question right away. Would definately stay again!!
We had a great time! Wish we could’ve stayed longer. We weren’t disappointed, the lake was beautiful and we enjoyed unplugging and hanging out in nature. Everything was just as we expected based on the description.
Property and stay was nice, but the heavy sulfur content in the water makes the shower and sinks smell like rotten eggs! This listing does mention the water is safe to drink, but the smell was worse than expected. It was pretty gross to stomach the smell. Everything else was fine.

As you mention, the water has been tested and is completely fine for use. That said, it is well water and high in iron and sulfur content. We do suggest bringing some drinking water. We live here as well and use the water for cooking and tea and coffee but understand that if you aren't used to well water, it can be disconcerting.
Lakeside Melodies is quiet and peaceful. The cottage was small, but worked for what we needed. Our kids loved the play structure and especially playing down by the lake. Loved getting to use the boats, swimming, and playing in the sand. Wayyyy better than a hotel room.
We never actually saw the proprietors, despite trying at the office several times. That being said, check in and out was as simple as us showing up and leaving at the appointed times.

Very peaceful and comfortable.
My family and I enjoyed our stay in the Western cottage. The AC worked well in the heat and humidity. The quiet, with only the sounds of nature and the occasional car, was very relaxing.
Thank you for a good week.

Terrific Modern Updates
The Western Cottage was a clean, quiet haven for me and my dog over Christmas break. Despite record-breaking low temps and tons of snow, the summery cottage was warm and welcoming. A wall heater in the living room somehow managed to heat all the rooms. The owners were incredibly nice, and so thoughtful, even shoveling the footpath. I would definitely stay here again, but perhaps during warmer months when I could enjoy the lake when it wasn't frozen!

About the host
Hosted by Camp Blue Canoe
Hey there!
Welcome to Camp Blue Canoe and thank you for checking us out. We are the family behind this beautiful, nature filled getaway we call paradise! Our tribe, the LaGiglias and the Regans, is all in the family. Bustling with 4 adults and 7 kids between our two households, we understand the daily grind, the everyday challenges, and frankly... the need to sometimes just got out of Dodge. The first time we walked this amazing 13 acres of Pure Michigan, we were completely sold. The rolling green hills, the waving forest trees, and the majestic Little Pleasant Lake instantly captured our family's hearts.
Our goal is to create that home away from home for families just like ours. We hope everyone staying at Camp Blue Canoe can wind down, take in the fresh air, and forget life for awhile. We are committed to making your stay as enjoyable and memorable as possible and creating a relaxing environment. Stay tuned, we have huge plans for this place and hope you will come along for the ride!
Escape to nature! With only one other house on the lake and no motor boats buzzing around, you are really out in nature with all the comforts of a cottage. We are also only 3 miles from Three Rivers where you can find lots to see, do, or buy supplies.
