The house was spacious and quiet with a beautiful garden. We brought our German shepherd. There were many quiet trails and beaches suitable for walking dogs. James was very helpful. We had a great stay.
Lovely house with great garden and beautiful beach at the end of the road. Quite remote so advise bringing plenty of books & board games. The owner left a list of local attractions and the kids loved the nearby mountain biking.
The property was spacious enough for 4 adults, 3 children and 3 dogs. Great spaces inside for dining and relaxing. Large enclosed back garden was absolutely lovely. Within walking distance of beach with great rockpooling opportunities. We didn't want to leave.
This is an ideal base to explore the south west coast of Scotland. Beaches, coastal walks, gardens and castles all within 1.5hrs of Moneath; most within 1hrs drive. Fully secluded with plenty of space, inside and out for kids to run around and enjoy themselves.A few small suggestions to make the accomodation stay even better; 1. Include a pint of milk and some breakfast items 2. Include bathroom items such as shampoo, body lotion etc. 3. Include gloves for the fire place (for novices)These are small issues which do not detract from the amazing property.Would definately recommend and go again.. TheThe property
We had a lovely few days at Stellock house, helped by decent winter weather. The house is in a perfect out-of-the-way location but not too remote. The garden is large and safe for dogs, there’s a really nice brazier for an outdoor evening fire and we appreciated the provision of logs and kindling at this time of year. The house was warm, clean and cosy- it wasn’t really warm enough to use the conservatory which was a shame as it’s a beautiful addition to the property. There are really good walks from the doorstep, including to the local beach. There was a nice walk book in the house for walks around Newton Stewart which is a town/ area worth exploring. The whole area is really lovely and we wished we’d had more time to spend there. Would definitely recommend and we would like to return in the future. .

Christmas stay
Thoroughly enjoyed our break over Xmas. The area is great for walking, dogs loved the beach.
House itself is lovely and cosy but lacking in a few things. Whole house needs a bit of TLC, looking a bit tired and grubby in areas. Oven control knobs some are broken, lack of basics ie salt/pepper/vinegar, old pots and pans need replacing so food doesn’t stick or burn when cooking. Outside area and garden needs tidying up and TLC again.

Hi Paul, thank you for your review. You were the last booking of the year so we have since done some maintenence/painting and replaced the cooker with a brand new dual fuel range one.
The pots and pans were brand new for the season, and still look that way, so not sure about that. Salt and Pepper is provided in the cupboard.
We have a landscaper/gardener that visits every 2 weeks, he keeps the outer gardens very tidy in my opinion, but again it was late season so he would not be cutting grass in Late December.
Kind Regards
James
Stellock is a large comfortable house in a secluded and stunning location in the gently rolling hills of the Machars peninsula. From its large and well kept garden there is a view out to the sea. There is plenty of kitchen space, big sofas to lounge on and the conservatory is wonderful! Add comfortable beds and very good Wi-Fi and TV reception.
We spent a week here and our only complaint is that it wasn’t a month. Admittedly the weather was good which certainly makes a difference but this place is just perfect for exploring this magical part of Scotland.
You can easily walk to the woods around the White Loch of Myrton and then on to Drumfad bridge and up over the Fell of Barhullion just behind the house. From here the view is magnificent, from the Rhins of Galloway to the Isle of Man and round to the hills of the Forest of Galloway with Merrick looming in the North.
The otter monument to Gavin Maxwell is nearby on a scenic headland. We visited in May when the many woodlands round about were full of bluebells and wild garlic. We watched swallows, martins and, in the evenings, bats.
Isle of Whithorn is lovely with its rugged point and charming harbour. Have a coffee at St. Ninian’s Tearoom. Try fish and chips at The Steampacket.
Superb accommodation. Highly recommended.
Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Urlaub, das Haus hat unsere Erwartungen voll erfüllt und James war gut erreichbar und hat bei Fragen schnell geholfen. Immer wieder gerne!
We loved our stay at Stellock. Great cottage in a great secluded location with no one around. Perfect for the dogs with a gravel outdoor area equipped with a hose for easy cleaning. Lovely quiet beach and country walks all nearby too.
Cottage is super cosy with the 2 wood burning stoves and James was super helpful when we ran out of wood.
Best pub by far is The Harbour Inn in Garlieston, lovely friendly atmosphere and nice food. Bladnoch distillery also well worth a visit!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Monreith. It was exactly the remote and beautiful location we were hoping for. The property was picturesque and comfortable. Plenty of space for the kids to play inside our out. We had a small issue with the downstairs loo which we liaised James about and he was very generous in his response to this. The walk to the beach and whisky tour at Bladnoch Distillery were particular highlights. Thank you to you both. It would be nice to come back in the summer sometime
Our experience of Stellock was that it worked really well for us. We were a party of 6 and the house was warm & welcoming, well-equipped and full of character. The wood-burning stove was a joy. We'd recommend it highly!

Beautiful and conservatory
Quite remote but very pretty location and comfortable bed
Communication with owners was slow regarding arrival instructions . Key hard to find ( Under stone but didn’t say stone above us ) Sitting room and kitchen dark but conservatory And garden lovely . No welcome pack which we would expect at that price .. even during Covid other properties have given wine or a local food voucher . No basics not even salt sugar or a few tea bags poor quality utensils that bent when you lifted food . Lack of information for heating and Wi-Fi access . Kitchen needed some upgrading . . Beautiful area of the country

Thank you for your review David.
The check-in information was sent 3 days prior to your arrival. We had Several extra light fittings installed in the living space to add more light, as well as table top lights, not sure if you were using these. The photos of the living space are on the advert itself that you can see prior to booking.
We removed the salt, sugar etc due to Covid Holiday House recommendations, this was standard practice for every self-catering property. We have now added these back to the house.
The heating is controlled by a simple 'nest' dial, all you do it twist it one way or the other to change the temperature. Sorry I did not think anyone would require guidance, If there were any questions regarding this or the Wifi I was always available via text or phone, I do not recall receiving any communication from yourself regarding this, its a shame as I would have been happy to help.
The Kitchen has been newly painted with 9 downlighters also just installed.
There is a visitor guide which was left out on the kitchen island for you, this gives all relevant information for local amenities and attractions.
Kind Regards
James.
Great house with a big garden at the end of a quiet farm track. Good kitchen. Good internet access. Good local beaches. Some nice towns and villages to visit in the area.
A nice, quiet and remote location for a family getaway.
