Very nice and spacious apartment. Plenty of room for my group of 4 people. Was centrally located on the main street with lots of shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend this place if you plan on spending some time in Naples. You do have to carry your luggage up some steps but other than that everything was perfect. Luggage storage was also available prior to our room being ready so that was another plus.

Location was really great for wandering the shops and restaurants. It was also central to meeting up for tours, etc. The pictures are no longer accurate to the current condition of the furniture and bedding. The chairs in each bedroom are completely worn and stained. The beds were comfortable. The larger bathroom was functional, but not as shown in the pictures. The second bathroom is small and the shower was a sprinkle of water. The living room furniture is worn and sagging. The outdoor patio was not functional. You must be aware there are 74 small narrow steps from the bottom to the apartment!; pack light!! The host was responsive with any questions and provided info as needed.

Big apartment, perfect for youthful family.

We stayed in 3 VRBO's in Italy and this apartment was the largest, and most equipped. The air conditioners worked great, it had an espresso maker WITH pods! The reason why the espresso maker is important is because this property met all the details you want. It was large, very clean, nice views, great location, Pizza directly across the street @ Antica Pizzeria is fantastic! The only downside is cars cannot negotiate the block so you are walking a few feet from the main block. There is also not a lift to the apartment so I would not recommend it for the elderly (this is a very common occurrence in Italy). We are adults in our 40s with a late teenager and 10 year old. It was awesome. The kids loved it as well. Make sure you get two card keys checking in!!

About the host

Don Paolo Marigliano di Montefalcone detested envy and considered friendship a religion. At almost 100 years of age, he became friends with the children and grandchildren of his friends. Governor of the Pio Monte della Misericordia and esteemed professional with multiple positions, such as president of the Unione Club, he organized a gala dinner for President Mitterand with only one hour prior notice. He was also known for his passion for the card game bridge, of which he was Italian champion in 1953. After decades, many remember his name believing it refers to a professional master of this card game.

The history of the building
The courtyard remains to this day the center of the building: it once housed cellars, warehouses, a 15th century oven which remains intact and stables which hosted horses until the 1930s.
During the bombings of 1943, the building was hit by three bombs. The Palazzo was restored in the post-war period by Don Francesco Marigliano del Monte. It is thanks to him, with the help of publishers and bankers, that “Il Giornale” printed by Arte Tipografica and signed by Benedetto Croce (the liberal philosopher) was established in the Palazzo. Currently, some of the most prestigious and traditional Neapolitan artisans including the Antica Legatoria, the Doll Hospital, Tiziana D’Auria Presepi and Materia Mediterranea can be found within the Palazzo’s courtyard.
