My family rented both sides of the Castle and it could not have worked out better. I did not realize that there were rear doors to each side that allowed a flow (inside) from one side to the other. For a family with grown children and a grandchild staying in the Castle allowed us to have a "family" vacation. The rooms were clean and the neighborhood is great for walking around. Would not hesitate to stay there again. Plus, Andrew is a terrific communicator.

Met our needs
Overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed our visit to Coeur d'Alene. The duplex was nothing fancy, but was comfortable and clean. The furnishings were pretty sparse, but we made do. Our favorite part of the place was the outdoor grill and picnic tables. This allowed for our group to eat together and visit, since the indoor space was pretty bare. While there were two dryers, neither worked very well. I let Andrew know this at the end of our stay, so I'm sure he'll make sure this is taken care of.

Thank you for your review and feedback. Our goal is to provide a clean, comfortable, yet affordable accommodation in a resort town that is known to be expensive. We do cut our costs in what we consider frivolous decorative items-and pass that savings on to the consumer. Our fees are similar to a budget motel in a commercial part of town, but yet we offer so much more! Two bedrooms, living area, laundry facilities, outdoor dining, and a kitchen! Meaning home cooked meals in a dining room setting instead of microwave dinners sitting on your bed! Plus there are so many great free things to do within walking distance of the house-jump from the cliffs into the lake at Tubbs hill, sunbathe at the beach, take the little ones to play in the splash pad at memorial park, talk an eveneing stroll through the tree shaded park, and the list goes on!

Disappointed
Location is great and lots of space, but that’s about it. Not what we were expecting. One unit was clean, the other was not. The unclean unit had hair on the bed sheets, ants crawling through the floor and stained sheets. For the price, not worth it. There was only a toddler bike to be found. This “castle” is very old and shows its age.

We are very sorry to hear these unfortunate events. We have been out of town and left the property in the care of a reputable property manager. We were surprised to hear some of these comments. For 2020 we have just finished an extensive 35K remodel that includes an all new exterior, with repairs, paint, landscaping, and a complete interior remodel with new cabinetry, flooring, bathroom surround, fixtures, furniture, window coverings, linens, bedding, and appliances. We feel very excited about the outcome and are looking forward to sharing with our future guests
Unless you are getting both units for this price, I would probably pass on this property. It is overpriced for one unit. They have since changed the title and description and believe they make it more clear that it is 2 units, except for ANY busy time - including Ironman weekend. We had to scramble to find another place for a couple in our group when we found out we would only have 1 of the units. It is probably good though, because I don't think they would have been satisfied by the dated decor, the simple furniture, the rigged up air conditioner and torn up front lawn and walk that appears to be a project in progress.
The description notes that there was a remodel and it appears that probably includes some new flooring in the bedrooms and new tiling of the bathroom. However the bathtub was not replaced and the showerhead, faucet and drain are workable but could benefit from replacement.
The air conditioner really couldn't keep up with temps above 100 degrees. There were ants in the house. They sent me the wrong code to get in, but sent the correct one when I sent them a message.
Overall, it was adequate but I would not stay here again.
Perfect for our needs during the IronMan. The owner was excellent.
I'd stay here again. it was just was we needed for the IronMan.

Location is the only positive
There is a reason why the owner doesn't have many pictures in the listing. This place needs a ton of work. The railings on both entrances of the front porch are not fully attached to the house, so my 5yr old fell off the porch and badly scraped his leg after leaning up against it. The rail ultimately fell off altogether on the west side. The sink in the west side kitchen clogged for no apparent reason and we had to make a late night trip to the store to purchase a plunger and draino to fix it. We tried to first remove the pea trap under the sink but were unable to do so as someone had caulked it. Faucet handles installed backwards, no lock on the east side bathroom door. Mold in the caulk around sinks and showers. Games missing pieces, holes in walls. Bunk bed frame not properly installed and fell apart when someone in our group tried to get in the bed to sleep. Strong musty odor throughout that seems to originate in the basement. Seems like minimal effort was put in to basically slap some lipstick on in order to charge high rates. It's like paying for a fancy resort but getting a rundown Motel 6. Contacted the owner to notify him of the main problems of the railings and sink clog and he didn't bother to respond. By far the worst experience i've ever had at a vacation rental. I would definitely steer clear of this place.

Cute, convenient duplex in a quiet area ofvtown
We absolutely loved Couer d’alane! And this place was convenient to walking everywhere. We enjoyed walking to the park and walking to Sherman street to the restaurants. Walking through the neighborhoods and a cute little park... just took a few minutes. Or if you feel lazy jump in your car for a very short drive. We also walked to the Natyral Grocers. Parking is limited to 2 hours in town or pay to park at the lake so we rather walk so our time wasn’t limited... b/c they do patrol and ticket. But if you rent a bike up at the bike shop they’ll let you park in their lot... which I recommend renting a bike and riding down to a Higgins dock... beautiful! Also donTubbs hike in the park. Then rent kayaks or SUPs and get out around Tubbs and stop at the beaches for a swim. Drive around the lake and stop at Shooters on the lake for lunch or dinner! If you have time drive to Kellogg to Siler Springs Ski Area. Living at ski areas for 20 years in CO ... this was a throwback in time. Very friendly old school ski area with a golf course, water park, biking, hiking etc.

A great stay!
This duplex was perfect for 2 families. We were able to connect when we needed to but have privacy when it was time for that too. The house was clean and conveniently located just a short drive to the lake, shopping, grocery stores etc. It would have been nice to have off the street parking in the back but all in all a great place in Couer d'Alene.

Adorable!
A-dorable half duplex in a lovely neighbourhood. It reminded me of the first cool house that an older sister would rent after finishing college. The air conditioners in the bedrooms had been turned on before our arrival & it was a cool retreat after long hours in the hot car. I loved the cleanliness, my children loved the bunkbeds & our dog loved the large yard. All white paint interior with gray herringbone & turquoise accents (even the kettle was turquoise!) Compact/functional kitchens & outdoor table made eating outdoors a treat. Tons of towels & extra bedding in the closets. Washer & dryer worked well for towels/clothes after a couple of beach days. We asked some neighbours walking their dogs about a dog beach & they were happy to tell us to drive 10 minutes to the very end of Coeur D'Alene Lake Drive where we found a perfect spot to throw sticks in the lake. CDA is beautiful & easy to get around on foot or by car. The waterfront park space by City Hall is unbelievably gorgeous. We would definitely stay here again & bring our bikes to explore even more.

Very clean, lots of space.
The house was very clean, floors kitchen bathroom all very clean and there were fresh flowers which was a nice touch. The house is a duplex so you will be sharing a wall with neighbors and we have lively children so we did our best to be respectful of neighbors and keep the peace. Great location for walking to downtown through the beautiful neighborhood and there is a park close as well.

Wonderful stay!
We loved our stay in CDA!! The house was perfect for our family of 10. Loved the architectural style of the house and the neighborhood was gorgeous. Everything was clean and comfortable. Walking distance of Capone's Pub, which I highly recommend. We also walked to the lake. We hated to leave the next morning.

You'll never be bored here, but if you need suggestions, we have plenty of local secrets to share. Coeur d'Alene truly has something for everyone!
What makes this property unique
In an era where modern trends often favor muted greys and blacks, we chose to celebrate the vibrant palette of 1920s Hollywood by embracing coral pinks, golds, turquoises and the like in our renovation. These bold, cheerful colors capture the essence of the Art Deco period, bringing a touch of vintage glamour and elegance to our property. By staying true to this classic aesthetic, we've created a unique and enchanting space that invites guests to step back in time and experience the opulence and allure of a bygone era.
