About this property

Barn End - Three Bedroom House, Sleeps 6

NEW FOR SUMMER 2020

Barn End is a lovely recently refurbished family property with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and parking for 2 cars.

Located on a quiet lane between Barngates and Skelwith Bridge, this cottage provides ample space for a large family or group to spread out and enjoy the view from the cottage or the back garden. Recently fully refurbished to a high standard, the cottage has 3 good sized bedrooms; 1 double ensuite, another double, and 1 twin with zip and link options,  a large open plan living dining area with views from all sides - a utility / drying room, and plenty of storage for bikes and equipment.

The garden at the back of the house is approx 12m x 7m and fully enclosed and with a terraced seating area close to the house.

You can walk up to the Drunken Duck from the cottage, although you will need a torch for your way home. In the the other direction, you can walk to Skelwith Bridge and enjoy the walk up into Langdale via Elterwater, or just stay at Chesters for lunch or afternoon tea. Plenty to do in the area, and a great base to explore our beautiful region.

Quiet location. Very comfortable.
Situated in a very quiet area but access is via some extremely narrow lanes, so not for the feint hearted, especially in the dark. Well equipped and very comfortable, though there was a few minor items missing from the kitchen, including a teapot, potato masher and a pizza cutter. The large fridge freezer in the utility room was very useful and a surprise as not mentioned in the listing. Nice modern bathrooms. Lovely views from the windows and the enclosed garden out the back. Only gripes were the initial smell in the ensuite, coming back up from the sceptic tank which seemed to dissapate once there was a regular water flow down the drains. Either that or we got used to it. Also a few signs of damp which did affect one of our party. I suppose it's typical of a house of this age and build but still not very pleasant. Overall a good base to explore from away from the crowds of Ambleside. Would also recommend the Tavern bar at the Skelwith Bridge Hotel for great pub grub and local beer.
