A spacious and comfortable property

A very spacious and well presented property in a lovely quiet location. Kitchen very well equipped, main lounge very comfortable, though seating in the TV room not very comfortable. Three lovely en-suite bedrooms, though bedroom three did lack hanging space. Rear parking space most convenient and very handy, however a designated path across the rear lawn would be an advantage during wet weather. Would return and recommend.

Autumnal Girl's Getaway

A superb cottage in the Cotswolds that has everything one could wish for. Exceptional condition, very clean and homely. A cake, flowers and milk on arrival which was a lovely touch. The manager was super helpful. We all said that we would definitely book Benson Cottage again. Only one small observation, it would be nice to have a nest of tables in the TV room.

Perfect Cotswolds stay

Benson Cottage exceeded expectation. Clean, comfortable and quiet, it is ideally located for easy access to many nearby villages without traffic passing by. We had the perfect long weekend and would certainly return again!

Another wonderful stay at Benson cottage

We were thrilled to be able to stay for a second time at Benson Cottage. It is a beautiful, well appointed and warm home in the heart of the Cotswolds. A lovely home for a family and we cannot wait to return. We intend to make this our base each time we visit from Australia.

Beautiful cottage

Bensons Cottage was very spacious, modern and well equipped. Its in a very quiet, pretty location in a small village but also very close to all the Cotswold favourites by car. We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend and will gladly return.

Bank Holiday stay

The quiet, village property was a great size for six people with good-sized rooms. We liked the large kitchen island, separate TV room and the en-suite facilities for each bedroom. Beds were comfy (good mattresses) as were sofas and armchairs downstairs with high quality curtains and blinds. This house is lovely in many ways. However, there were details that let the cottage down such as lumpy pillows and a lack of generosity with some features: e.g. toiletries (only hand wash), hairdryer (a basic one only for the house), kitchen towels (thin and previously stained), some pans had seen better days. The owner could easily improve the visitors' experience with attention to the small details. We've stayed at one other cottage with this company that had a lovely sense of luxury throughout so know it can be done.

Family Break

Fantastic cottage. The cottage itself is well kitted out and everything was very clean and fresh with excellent quality bed linen, towels etc. A lovely touch was a welcome cake. Having en-suites to all three bedrooms made it much easier on a multi generational family break, as did having a ‘TV’ room and another sitting room. The location is great - quite rural for walks, but within easy reach of Stratford-upon-Avon and beautiful Cotswold villages. We also met some lovely, welcoming neighbours. We are checking calendars to see when we can re-visit!

reunion

Benson Cottage proved an ideal place for a reunion with friends. The house was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. The only thing missing was instruction on what could be recycled . As it varies so much across the country we took ours home rather than use the recycling containers.

Benson Cottage

The cottage was lovely but for us the sofas in the television room were extremely uncomfortable so we did not use the room very much so this would stop us renting this property again. The same thing applies to the wooden kitchen chairs. The majority of our party was over 70 so comfort is quite a priority for us.

Ideal location

Great location for all of the main tourist attractions in the Cotswolds. The cottage is well set out for a family or 2. Ideal having an en suite in each double room. The garden could do with a makeover as there were old plastic pots left around, grass had high weeds in it and the area looked untidy. Inside the cottage has everything you need in terms of appliances and utensils. The dishwasher needs a thorough clean as some crockery we were using was disgusting. When we put the dishwasher on it had a bad odour after the cycle. The cold tap in the principal bedroom en suite squeaks when on. That was annoying. There are quite a few tiny spiders around on the ceiling and the windows were very dirty. All in all a great cottage with facilities and location but just needs a thorough clean to bring it up to the standard we have had before in other places. We tried to adhere to the recycling structure but there were no bags to put the plastic stuff in.

Beautiful cottage in perfect location

We had a wonderful 5 days at Benson cottage. We have been to the Cotswolds several times before but never stayed in Paxford, which we found well placed to visit the surrounding area and villages. The cottage is lovely inside and decorated lovely. We especially liked that each bedroom had its own en suite. Despite being modern and tastefully decorated there were a couple of bits that I would say needed attention, like the bottom of the wall going up the stairs and knobs coming off in the under sink cabinet in back bedroom but nothing that would stop me going again. Overall we had a wonderful stay here and the beds were very comfortable too. Dropped one star for cleanliness because some of the cutlery was dirty when we arrived but that could have been the people before who had put it away dirty. Other than that everywhere was clean. The kitchen could probably do with more dishes for cooking in. There wasn’t an abundance of crockery if you plan on doing a lot of cooking whilst there.

Great spacious cottage in a peaceful area

Was specifically looking for a cottage with three bedrooms, and ideally two bathrooms; this cottage was a great find! Three sizeable bedrooms all with en-suites. Two sitting rooms, both lovely and comfortable. Good TV reception and good WiFi too. Location is a bit out in the sticks but we knew that when we booked and were happy with that; a lovely area, some good pubs only five minutes' drive away and the nearest supermarket is only about 15 mins away. My only minor complaint would be that it could do with a tiny bit more attention paid to general maintenance in between stays. For example, the en-suite to the largest bedroom could do with some attention due to a constant unpleasant smell (drain problem?) and a presumably faulty shower whose only temperature was scalding hot no matter which way you turn the temperature dial! The dishwasher was also completely empty of rinse-aid and dishwasher salt when we arrived, though it's only fair to add that both dishwasher tablets and laundry detergent for the washing machine were provided for free, which was nice. Regardless of what I've mentioned above, overall the property was well presented and clean. We had a great stay, would stay again, and would recommend to others.

A very enjoyable week

Having stayed in hotels since 1999 for Cheltenham Festival week we decided to rent a house this year and we were really pleased with the decision. We are likely to do the same next year.

A lovely stay at Benson Cottage

Fabulous 3 king bedroom property with en-suites in all rooms made for a perfect stay for 3 couples. Great living space and large kitchen. Great cosy escape for winter with the log burner and great heating, but we can imagine the garden being great for summer use. Big house, car parking for one but plenty of space at the front for more cars. Excellent location for the Cotswolds exploring. Highly recommend this house to stay in and we will be back for sure! Only recommendation is some more mirrors and more than one (better quality) hair dryer. Thank you for the milk and biscuits!

A comfortable property.

Benson Cottage was a good property, comfortable and clean in an area that suited our requirements for visits to National trust properties and towns in the cotswolds. Three comfortable bedrooms all with en-suite facilities. A quiet sitting room and a tv lounge. A few minor negatives, the front door did not lock due to poor alignment, the heating system was a bit off a hit and miss affair, but the house manager did her best to resolve, the garden was small and uninteresting. Parking area for 1 car was flooded so no access to car parking via the back gate, this was due to heavy rainfall during our visit. Apart from these minor issues we enjoyed our time at Benson Cottage.

A lovely house with excellent facilities for a family get together

We found the accommodation to be excellent for our basic requirement of 3 double rooms with at least two bathrooms. Benson cottage provided 2 Kingsize bedrooms with en-suite showers and a master suite with Queensize bed. All comfortable, cozy and well equipped for our week away. We have a family get together every year with a cottage rental, and this was the best accommodation yet. The local village pub was being renovated, which was a shame, but lots of other choices within 15 minute drive. Very quiet location which suited us fine.

Good location and property but some problems

My review will sound very familiar to other users of the property who have reported the same problems without them being resolved. Chief of these is the problem with parking which is very limited due to cones round a collapsed drain in the shared driveway. When we tried to move the cones to make it easier to manoeuvre in and out one of the neighbours came out and told us not to. The information provided on entering the property was really a set of dire warnings about cleaning and rubbish disposal on leaving. The shower tray in the bedroom we used didn’t drain so getting into the shower after someone had used it was slippery and dangerous. There were few coat hangers. We were unable to use the washer as the only drying option was a very small fold out airer - and no pegs. None of these problems would take much sorting out. Benson Cottage is a lovely house in an excellent location and it seems a pity not to be able to give a better review

Benson Cottage

Benson Cottage is very attractive and beautifully appointed. We were very pleased with the overall quality of the property and despite the various negative issues we had a very enjoyable stay. So, the constructive comments that follow are similar to previous review by cottage holiday renters. The cottage is advertised with parking for two cars. There is NO WAY two cars can park off road. The broken water pipe in the designated parking area -which according to the lovely neighbour I spoke to has been coned and cordoned off since October 2023 (that’s EIGHT MONTHS AGO! -So I ask why is this property still advertising two parking spaces that clearly are not available?). Further more, even without the broken pipe I would suggest parking would be limited to only two very small cars. The cottage is advertised with strong Wi-Fi, but apart from the sitting room and bedroom 3 situated directly above, the Wi-Fi was poor. The main bedroom en-suite lacked any means of fresh air and on arrival smelt ‘stale and damp’ - due presumably to the skylight window being inaccessible to open. It needed some sort of pole to enable opening and airing. Bedroom 3 has no wardrobe nor any facility to hang clothes. Not too much of an issue for our three night stay but had we been staying for longer, some sort of wall hooks/pegs would have been helpful. Also a zip/ link bed in one of the bedrooms would offer more flexibility for folks/children happy to share a room but not a bed. The cottage instruction folder bordered on useless and needed a complete overhaul. Outdated refuse information, no information re dishwasher especially regarding program cycles, yet pages and pages on heating system when in fact all one needed was how to switch on, set temperature and switch off! Three different Wi-Fi passwords listed was not helpful either, as only one was correct.. Finally, more tourist information and a visitor book would be helpful plus a key safe outside that is located at a height for everyone over the age and height of a five year old would be perfect, as having to kneel down every time to use the key safe was not ideal. .

A great weekend

We were meeting up with friends and booked Benson Cottage as is was perfect for us, king size beds and en-suite shower to each bedroom. The cottage is modern and well appointed and we had a very pleasant stay. It is impossible to park 2 cars at the rear of the property as firstly they would have to be small and secondly at present there is a coned off area in the parking space covering the broken rain water pipe under the shingle drive, this according to a neighbour has been like it for some time. We returned on Saturday evening and as it was rather chilly decided to light the fire, there were written instruction which were followed to the letter but this proved impossible as smoke poured from around the chimney and set off the fire alarm. There was a phone number to ring but we just decided to abandon the idea. I do think that the fire and the chimney need to be inspected. We would return as it is a lovely cottage in a quiet village.
