About this property

Quiet Cowfair Cottage In Central Cotswolds With Lovely Garden

Cowfair is tucked away in a quiet position in the picturesque village of Chipping Campden. This comfortable, detached, Cotswold stone cottage is just 300 metres from the village centre and its many excellent restaurants, independent shops and boutiques. Close to the Cotswold Way footpath and within easy reach of Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham and Oxford. Ideally situated for walking, racing, gardens (i.e. Hidcote), Stratford Theatre, antique shops.

The cottage consists of entrance hall, large kitchen with a range of fitted units, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwaher and dining alcove. Utility room off the kitchen with washing machine, drying rack, and separate sink, cloakroom, W.C.

Cosy sitting room with electric log-effect wood burner and French windows opening out on to the terrace and private walled garden.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one king and one twin plus a family bathroom.

Outside is a lovely long garden, laid mostly to grass, bound by a dry stone wall. Secure for young children (note the wall is quite low to one end). Garden furniture plus and BBQ for the summer months. There is hard standing to park a car off road at the end of the garden, accessed via a track down the side of the property.

Homey Cottage in the Cotswolds

Jemma's cottage is comfortable, spacious, well-appointed and in a great location with easy access to the village high street and nearby walking paths. We had a lovely time in this area and felt right at home here. Jemma is a responsive host but we didn't have any issues during our stay. Thanks again, Jemma. We'd love to stay again someday.

Great location in Chipping Compton

Nice cottage, comfortable beds, easy walk to High Street (take the shortcut down the lane at the hotel parking lot), clean, accurate description, nice to have a washer/dryer for our longer stay. Helpful information from Jemma and appreciated her flexibility on early check-in. Thanks!

Great location with off street parking.

Enjoyed the property overall. Great location, quiet with off-street parking. However the bed in the main bedroom is too soft as has been noted by other guests. Would have also been nice to see a few more essentials in the kitchen

The cottage is in a great location to access the Cotswold Way, has comfortable beds, and a peaceful garden. A very charming place. We appreciated the helpful local info contained in a binder.

Lovely family stay in Chipping Campden

We stayed 9 nights in this property with our twin 4YOs, and we were very pleased. The layout was perfect for our family. The beds were all comfortable, and we enjoyed spreading out into the 2 common areas (eat-in kitchen, living room). The weather ranged anywhere from 45-80 degrees, and we were very comfortable in the house with radiator heat for cool weather and nice cross-breeze and a fan for warm weather. We hadn't expected to be able to enjoy the outside space much, but with the surprise warm weather, we loved eating dinner on the patio while the kids played in the garden. The ease of walking to the High St was awesome, while also being on a quiet street. I saw some of the other properties we had considered and was so thankful we landed on this one as opposed to others! We parked on the street some, but we were also glad to have the dedicated parking spot (very narrow but doable alley). The local co-op was surprisingly well-equipped with all sorts of items (even through a bank holiday weekend), and we were especially thankful for a lot of their kid-friendly items and prepared foods after our days out and about. It was very easy to do light cooking in the cottage kitchen.Jemma was very responsive to a couple minor questions I had, and we would absolutely recommend the property and stay again.

Excellent cottage

We had a great stay at this cottage. It is spacious, and the garden was great for our kids to play in. It was well-equipped, and we were able to cook everything we needed. The washer/dryer was a nice touch and worked well. The private parking off the street was also very nice, as the street parking got quite full over the weekend. The GPS coordinates from the VRBO app are a little off, but we didn't have much trouble finding the cottage up the street. There are lots of things to do in the immediate area, as well as within a short drive. We would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful quaint cottage in a great location

The cottage is well equipped with all the basics you would want in a vacation rental. The beds were comfy. We especially appreciated the lovely walled back garden for breakfast and dinner. There were some toys and books for our 5 year old. Parking was easily available and safe. It was just a short walk to the shops in Chipping Campden, yet felt private and relaxing.

WOnderful location, charming cottage

The cottage was probably the nicest place we've stayed. We had breakfast in the private, walled garden every day, enjoying the flowers and the weather--OK, to be honest, others probably shouldn't expect a week of no rain, but we loved ours! It was comfortable, and we enjoyed the 10 minute walk to town for meals. We hiked to Dover hill, if you can call a 2 mile excursion a hike. And we enjoyed yours of the local gardens. Stay hEre!

Fantastic Week in The Cotswolds

My wife, 9 year old daughter and our Labradoodle had a fantastic week in Chipping Campden. House was perfect for us. Clean and renovated bathroom and kitchen with all the necessities. Walking distance to the high street but very quiet at night. Jemma and her daughter came by to greet us and was very responsive with any questions we had. Definitely recommend. You won’t be disappointed.

Awesome place but a few clarifications: no dryer, no outdoor grill (we bought 6 steaks) & it's a 1.5 bath.1st floor toilet doesn't flush like the 2nd floor one. Washed clothes & had to line dry outside on patio watching for rain. Very stressful to see a utility usage app in the laundry room. Put mop & bucket outside until we left because it made laundry room smell moldy. Bed, upstairs bath, shower were lovely. Living room lovely, kitchen super. Super nice owner. Lovely home, lovely patio and yard.

Look no further

When I began my search for accommodations in Chipping Campden this was the first place that showed up. After reading the description and looking at the pictures I thought why would I look for anything else? This place seems perfect. So I booked it and I’m glad I did because it exceeded my expectations, which were already high. A great two story cottage with a lovely back yard on a quiet back street that’s a pleasant 5-minute stroll from the high street. It’s also adjacent to the terminus of The Cotswold Way offering a country hike of any length you choose. If you’re driving you can park for free on the street or even pull carefully into the back yard if you like.

Cowfair for us

We enjoyed a week at this charming cottage in Chipping Campden, which in our view is one of the real jewels of the Cotswolds. It is very well located for walking into town and as a base for driving around the region. We found the stairs to be steep for oldies and the TV is not “smart” if caught with rainy weather. Everything else worked just fine.

Great place to stay for Cheltenham Festival

All good, but a couple of points to note: Stairs in cottage are fairly steep, will not suit everyone. Whilst the cottage is well placed, there are no alleys to cut through to the High St. This means a fairly long walk to the pub/shops...this will not suit everyone. Parking in Chipping Campden is horrendous, so walking is important. Good parking in layby outside cottage but...the spaces are in hot demand during the day! The neighbours park right outside the cottage bay window...constantly. The flush in downstairs toilet is not great... If you want to do some more advanced cooking, the kitchen lacks work surfaces, you will need to use the table...
