Great 1 Bedroom Studio with wonderful views, Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi

Vine Ridge Studio is below the owners house. It is reachable within 1 hour from Malaga and situated less than 1 mile up a typical Andalucian track just below the beautiful 'Blanco' village of Comares. It has been designed to take full advantage of the 'Breathtaking' views which take into account both the Mediterranean and also the Rugged Mountain Ranges .'Vine Ridge' Studio is a flexible, comfy and well equipped self contained unit which is 'Excellent Value' in stunning surroundings. The accommodation includes use of a 'Roman ' stepped swimming pool from which the Mediterranean can be seen and also the peaks of Mount Maroma. There is also an outdoor shower. Hot tub available at extra cost.
It has plenty of terraces, outdoor tables and seating and from wherever you look you will see another view, which is appropriate as we located on the 'Buena Vista' walking route with it's amazing views of Andalucia.


Who are we ??: It is always nice to know who you are renting from :
Myself (David) and my wife Jacqui purchased this property in 2008 with the aim to offer ' Good Value' holidays which we would ourselves appreciate.
The Studio was opened in 2009 to a high standard but with realistic pricing to help people discover this stunning area of Spain.
We have 3 grown up children and 2 friendly dogs.
We also have the Apartment nxt door that sleeps 3 guests
Our aim is to allow couples and families to enjoy the beautiful Andalucian surroundings, which 'Vine Ridge' Apartment is designed to achieve .
The views still give us the 'WOW' factor after 16 years of living here and we are confident that they will do likewise for you .
We can offer a Taxi service and hope that all our customers holidays will be enjoyable and fun at a very 'Realistic' price .
Within one hour of Malaga and you discover Vine Ridge !!

Local Activities and Comares Village Facilities: Comares can be reached in 10 min drive and 20 min walking and once there it's wonderful Moorish history can be enjoyed via its well planned walking route.
In the quaint village there are several restaurants where you can enjoy 'Spanish or English ' Fayre all child friendly.
Also a large communal swimming pool opened in July and August .

The property is located up a track which is part concrete and part dirt. It is a 5 minute drive from the main road and there is no need for a 4 x 4 to access us.
The area lends itself to Walking and Mountain Biking .

Great views and all you could need in the apartment. Lovely hosts and very informative about the local areas with some great recommendations. Short distance to Comares and not far to Torre Del Mar for fantastic seafood at the chiringitos.

Oh dear Ann, what a shame after you said to me and on whatsapp . "Thanks for having us! You live in a beautiful place" "The views are beautiful hence the location was also beautiful" So Ann has not mentioned the accommodation. Basically she ignored our advise to meet us on the road so we could guide her up the typical Andalucian track of 5 minutes. She doesn't mention that she crashed her car earlier whilst shopping. She was told up front we have an issue with the Jacuzzi. We are at fault of not spotting she was charged still, so when told we reacted and refunded. A new Jacuzzi is on order. She booked our minimum stay in that month of 4 nights, then said she only wanted 3 later on, likely she planned this so she could really get the 3 she wanted initially, anyway we will never know. Then on getting home was upset she had pay a little extra for another night. What Ann then doesn't mention because of course a review should be balanced and beneficial for future customers is that we gave her a free lift to the wedding coach she was catching that day. I then kindly suggested that as likely the main 2 taxi's would be booked maybe she should use Jose a semi retired driver and gave out his number, she booked it, didn't ask for a quote for after midnight. It really hurts us to have to respond to our worse ever review but after a deep breath we have, Ann came here for a wedding,not through choice can't see her returning , but whose loss is that really, sad but true .

Wonderful break in beautiful surroundings

We took a last minute holiday and found Vine Ridge to be just what we were looking for, away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. We had fantastic weather, the 1 bedroom apartment was fabulous with everything that one needs for a self catering holiday. Thanks to David & Jacqui for their accurate directions to Vine Ridge, particularly as it was dark when we landed at Malaga and for the welcome upon our arrival along with the welcome pack - omelettes and lager when down a treat. David & Jacqui are wonderful hosts and made us feel at home. We did plenty of walking and sightseeing around the area and even had two days just chilling by the pool, along with Woody, Bruno and Charlie! It's a lovely walk up to Comares which is a quiet, quaint white village and we ate twice at the Hotel Molino which is definitely to be recommended. And the sunrise every morning wow!!!

"Wonderful Studios with the most stunning views"

Please read and confirm your review for Property #411329 Review #4656605 "Wonderful Studios with the most stunning views" As a previous reviewer noted the photos are a pale imitation of the actual view as you look out from Vine Ridge across the valleys and mountains of Andalusia. It is a jaw dropping experience.. Only a short drive from Malaga and yet out the wilds, Vine Ridge is still a short drive/walk from the while village( pueblos blanco) of Comares. The pool is amazing although be careful as the view is so distracting. The closeness to the airport means that a weekend break is easily possible to soak up some of those rays sadly missing from the British climate. A taxi service is available from the owner so you don't even need to hire a car! Check out the cheap flights possible and get yourself over here for a well earned weekend break. We shalll be returning that's for sure.

Ideal base for a walking holiday

We left Vine Ridge today, after a week which gave us exactly what we hoped for - a comfortable base in a beautiful area, where, as keen walkers, we were able to enjoy good walks, without the mud of a UK January. You may think the photos and descriptions are too good to be true; they're not! What you see is what you get, some of the most FANTASTIC and panoramic views in Spain, well planned, comfortable, accommodation, and friendly helpful hosts (and family) who will make you feel welcome. (And the most gorgeous pool, but only for the brave in January!). The area offers wonderful walking opportunities, with no crowds; as well as exploring the local walks which start at the door, we bought a book: 'Walk! The Axarquia', (by Charles Davis), and accompanying map, which proved ideal for exploring a variety of landscapes within a drive of under an hour. We agree with all the positive comments in previous reviews; David and Jacqui have succeeded in providing everything you could want, at an amazingly reasonable price. Highly recommended.

The true balcony of the Axarquia

Arriving in the most stressed state possible, unable to get back to Britain after the Icelandic volcano problems, it took only 5 minutes to feel absolutely relaxed and looking forward to exploring the beauty and peace of everythingh that lay before us. Just sitting outside the apartment with a glass of wine, beautiful views as far as the eye could see, bird song, and, later on stars, was wonderful. We walked from the house every day exploring the marked walks in the area, each one beautiful in its own way. It would be possible to walk for two weeks without retracing your steps, exploring the tracks around the house and village of Comares. We saw eagles, turtles, wild flowers galore and loved every moment of it. As a keen cyclist I look forward to returning one day to explore the area by bike. The studio was really comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped. David and Jacqui were perfect hosts, with the right mix of helpfulness and local knowledge, without being intrusive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Vine Ridge to anyone who is looking for a great experience of Southern Spain.

Tranquil paradise with internet access.

This is a nice little studio apartment with a view out onto a beautiful valley. As with a lot of inland Spain, the views are stunning. The property is easy to find and the track you traverse, to get to it, is pretty good (easily achievable in a Panda). The pool is lovely, it is very quiet and there is a track that provides a pleasant walk up to Comares, a little village perched right on top of a rocky edifice. For peace and tranquillity, look no further. Relax and chill. I am an explorer, however, so my only minor gripe was that it is quite a long way from anywhere, though the more commercial coast (not really my thing) is not too far away. For the intrepid, there are plenty of mountain roads to explore and even higher villages but I would recommend Antequera's Alcazaba, via El Torcal Natural Park, which is beautiful in June. I also visited Ronda but that's a fair old distance but so worth it. There is a nice lake, to the north, but not much around it. If I was the chilling by the pool type, this would have been 5 stars but I do like the historic architectural side of Spain so the remoteness was a massive plus but also a technical minus. The eating places, in Comares, were also reasonable with the one by the racket courts being the best. Good shower, didn't watch the TV, played CDs on the DVD player. bed was comfortable. Good Wi-Fi.

A great review from a well traveled guest and so many lovely points mentioned in reference to Vine Ridge, the local area and further afield. We would just add that if you look at our website under the "places to see section" we cover off everything from on our doorstep , to a 3 hour drive away and all in between. For example Malaga is the same distance as Antequera just one hour and the old part is charming and historic and Granada is only 2 hours away with it's world famous Alhambra Palace. So peace and tranquility but also history, culture and beaches are all achievable from Vine Ridge. Thank you again.

I Dont Believe it!!!

I wanted some sunshine and warmth after the appalling winter and so called spring in England and ...WOW did I strike it rich!! Its been said so may time before in testimonials about the views...well they are all true and some. Take your breathe away....lost my voice for 3 days (that pleased David). Stumble out of bed and there was the most welcome site you can imagine...blue skies....mountains...valleys...just jaw dropping. Even managed a couple of mornings to get above the clouds!!...you could just see the tops of the mountains...the valleys were hidden...I`m sure a bit like looking down from Everest...only a damn site warmer. David and Jacqui are perfect hosts. A great welcome pack to get you started...lots of goodies in their fridge also. This is what I call self catering...all utensils etc to hand. The room was immaculate and so charming..(must bring the wife sometime)...I will spoil her to be sure. It was like a `home from home`...but nothing will prepare you for the stupendous views. A stiff walk...for this `old boy` to Comares...but well worth the effort. I am a `birder` so I was excited to find a local nest within the Villa grounds of a the charismatic.. Sardinian Warbler. What a little charmer. I did not venture from the villa area and managed around 30 species....just strolling around the perimeter and up into Comares. So relaxing...charming hosts...wonderful place to re-charge those batterries. All facilities were immaculately presented and maintained. Comfy apartment, gorgeous views, lovely owners, sweet dogs

David and Jacqui were incredibly friendly and helpful from the first mail to the last goodbyes. The studio was clean and comfortable, and obviously furnished by people who have stayed in such apartments and thought about what they'd like to have when they travel. The kitchen has everything you need to cook simple meals, there's a little sofa in addition to the table and chairs, there's plenty of storage space and several hangers for clothes. A minor detail (but one we notice, especially when lacking): there are plenty of hooks in the bathroom. The views really are that stunning and more. Though the drive up to the apartment is a bit hairy, it's worth it. We woke every morning to gorgeous sunrises over the mountains, and enjoyed watching the last light fall in the evenings on those same - but ever-changing - mountains. A word to the wise about the location. If you've read more of the reviews of Vine Ridge (we did), this shouldn't come as a surprise (and yet, it did): the spot is more remote than I was expecting. (It was also more peaceful and beautiful than I was expecting, so I'm really not complaining!) If you are visiting Andalusia for the first time and want to see as much as possible, you might want to think about staying someplace less remote, or moving around to a couple of other locations in addition. Wherever you stay: check Google Maps before you go, and pay close attention to the driving *times*, not just the distances. The distances are deceptive, because it's hard to imagine from flatter regions of the world just how twisty, turny, upy-downy those distances are. (On the other hand, that also made all our drives just gorgeous.) If you're looking for a spot with gorgeous views and pretty walks close by, and are planning to spend about half (or more) of your time chilling out at the pool, reading a book in front of the lovely views, and/or petting the dogs, then this is the place for you. Thanks again to David and Jacqui for a wonderful vacation.

Entspannung hoch über dem Meer

Der Aufenthalt lohnt sich sehr, wenn man die Ruhe sucht, abends ins jacuzzi gehen möchte und den Sternenhimmel und die Landschaft geniessen möchte. Man sollte bisschen robust sein, was die Anfahrt ( letztes Stück betrifft), was aber durch den Ort der Unterkunft sehr schnell wieder wettgemacht wird. Die Vermieter sind ausgesprochen nett und hilfsbereit!

Perfect place.

If you want to visit an authentic part of Spain; look out at stunning, spectacular views every day; go trekking on the mountainside in warm weather (even in winter) or just relax and chill out in an apartment in a fabulous villa with a swimming pool, a jacuzzi, great hosts and unbeatable prices, yet still only 40 minutes from the beaches of Torre del Mar (if you can drag yourself away), then Vine Ridge Retreats near the village of Comares, is the perfect place for you. We have just stayed there for one week and wish it could have been much longer. It was the first time we had stayed in accommodation where the owner was on site and were not sure how it would work out. But it couldn't have been better! David (the owner) was very friendly and welcoming and put us at our ease right away. Throughout our stay he was always there to answer any questions and was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area. We were there house hunting and he went out of his way to help. His advice and knowledge were invaluable in pointing us in the right direction for first time buyers in Spain. Although David was always there when he was needed he was also careful to respect our privacy and to give us our own space. In summary; Vine Ridge Retreats is a great place to stay for the reasons mentioned, and many more, but no review would be complete without a mention for David's three little helpers- AKA Bruno, Charlie and Chico – three of the cutest and friendliest dogs you will ever meet. They made an enjoyable experience even more enjoyable. Needless to say: we will be back!

Studio appartement van alle gemakken voorzien en met een heerlijk zwembad + jacuzzi. Vriendelijke behulpzame eigenaren (Brits) met een aantal leuke hondjes(niet storend). Appartement is tot de laatste 1.5 km goed te vinden en bereikbaar waarna er een smalle stijle gedeeltelijk onverharde weg volgt. Robuste auto is wel handig (zeker als het geregent heeft). Voor minder valide mensen is deze plek niet geschikt.Wij hebben hier een fantastische week vakantie mogen beleven en raden dit zeker aan voor avonturiers.

A lovely Dutch couple who were a pleasure to have around and enjoyed how stunning the views are. We do have lots of small cars up here and the last 5 minutes of track does of course leave to some of the best views in Andalucia, so worth the slow drive up the track. Wonderful Apartment with amazing views and lovely people

We spend one week at Vine Ridge and want to come back as soon as possible. Every time we have to drive up and down the hill, it was an adventure. For the first time we had some trouble to come up, but after the second time it went great and also was a little bit fun. :) The apartment is homely and comfortabel. The pool is wonderful and the views on the surrounding mountains are amazing! We enjoyed every second at Vine Ridge. David and Jacqui are very very friendly and helped us, if we have some questions or other requests. Thanks again to you both! We are already missing the 3 dogs and the ambiance. La Axarquía is a nice place to spend the holidays. To many sights and lovely spots for a one week stay. I hope we can discover more next year!

Truly amazing views. Helpful friendly hosts. Comfortable studio. Car advantageous as slightly isolated. Table mountain restaurant highly recommended. Camino del Rey a must for walkers.Overall a very enjoyable stay if you're looking for something other than a beach holiday.

Lovely place!

What a delightful place for our December escape! The location is idyllic- quiet with amazing views of mountains and sea, a perfect place for those who love both. Comares is an utterly charming village with interesting history. It’s a nice walk up the hill from Vine Ridge. The studio apartment was lovely and comfortable with internet and all we needed to cook. David and Jacqui were very kind and full of useful information about the area and activities. The dogs really helped make us feel at home. Despite the chilly mornings the pool was great for a refreshing dip, followed by a warming soak in the jacuzzi. Many thanks to our wonderful hosts, we hope to return soon!

Not to be missed

We spent a wonderful week at Vine Ridge. Before we even arrived we knew it would be special.The drive up the mountain was an adventure and quite exhilerating the higher we climbed.wonderful reward arriving at Vine Ridge. The views were spectacular and right in front of our studio. Wonderful to wake up to each morning.David and Jaqui are brilliant hosts so helpful and informative. Charlie, Bruno and Chico are a delight greeting us each morning,although the doggie biscuits may have helped. The pool area is really lovely and you can float about and take in the view or catch an eagle on the thermals. The poolside bed is a great idea. We laid on it at night to watch the stars and saw two shooting stars in one night. The studio was bright,modern and spotlessly clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We are not surprised folk return all the time Vine Ridge is certainly a wonderful experience and we highly recommend it

Chilaxing retreat.

As usual made very welcome by David and Jacqui, every thing you need from Sun breath taking views lovely pool accomadation has Been well thought out. It's a beautiful place to wake to too and have your breakfast looking out too the coast in the distance and near mouintains. We have been about 5 times now and not bored with it, Thanks to David and Jacqui for all the holidays we have had.

Dream holiday location

In thirty years of visiting Spain I haven't stayed anywhere near as good as this break at Vine Studios for the combination of panoramic mountain-to-seaviews from the window; the quiet and privacy; the warmth and attention to detail of David & Jacqui; the scent of almond blossom in the evening (if you are here in Jan/Feb!); birdlife of eagles, warblers and hoopoes and more that even Chris Packham would be happy with; and should you tire of what's on your doorstep then with several big lung-fulls of mountain air you can walk up to the bar in Comares in 20 mins. Also, should you need more than the unbroken view of sunrise to awaken you then the powerful, hot shower and Spanish filter coffee will have bouncing into the morning! Thanks David & Jacqui - I think it hardly needs saying but Hasta Pronto!

Relfections from a Poolside Retreat

Tucked away in the hillsides of Andalucia, the VineRidge Retreat provides the perfect home to explore the beautiful hillsides and landscapes on your doorstep. The view from the pool is breathtaking, and David and Jacqui are hosts par excellence, who could not be more accommodating and helpful, aided by the 3 amigos, Chico, Bruno and Charlie, who became our four-legged friends of the highest order. The apartment was perfectly setup for us and opening the door onto amazing, morning sunshine and sitting outside for breakfast is a experience wish hope to repeat soon, and one I highly recommend. The area is perfect for walks for those sturdy of foot, and the trail up to the beautiful village of Comares is worth it for the view. Great food is on hand at the small bars and restaurants, and the mini mart at the top of the village has all needed for a week self catering. A fantastic holiday and one that will be repeated in the future.

Excellent place and amazing value

I would highly recommend the Cullimore's Vine Ridge for a beautiful,relaxing and fully equipped studio to come and stay. We have stayed there 3 times and are about to book again for next year. The views are stunning, it's quiet and once you've driven the track its no problem. David and Jacqui are perfect hosts, they are there if you need them but not intrusive. Elder daughter Gemma cooks fab homemade pizzas to buy that we can recommend if you fancy a break from cooking or going out. The dogs are so friendly and come for a visit every morning. Vine Ridge is excellent value for money, you will not find better. The outside area is big with plenty of seats and various bbq that we used almost daily on our last holiday. The double bed is lovely for star gazing. What more could you want for a truly relaxing holiday. John and Lynne Poole

Lovely couple, amazing views....loved the dogs!

We were very well looked after by David and Jacqui. Beautiful views from the apartment and we loved the dogs, they made the holiday for our little boy! The apartment was lovely, with pretty much everything we needed. The track up to the apartment was pretty hairy but we got used to it. Comares was very picturesque and we loved the bar in the main square. Our only criticism would be that the outside/communal areas could in our opinion be neatened up a bit with regards to the sunbeds and bbq area. Otherwise we would highly recommend staying at Vineridge and would certainly return!

A pleasant review from lovely guests and it is appreciated that they like the effort that all at Vine Ridge including the our popular dogs make to provide a great holiday experience, plus they enjoyed staying in the apartment which we are very proud of. The final 5 minute drive to Vine Ridge does lead to the stunning views and over the years all our guests just plod up and appreciate the end result, which usually leaves them speechless once the views are witnessed. We strive for 5 out of 5 at Vine Ridge so a little bemused about the communal area comments, as we are not sure why 8 sunbeds , 4 of which were new this year and 4 BBQ's ,3 which customers can move to their desired location and one which is big enough to cook for 10 guests alone , plus the very popular Victorian bed with Moorish influenced covers which guest seem to love is not to their taste, but feedback is appreciated. As per usual thank you for taking the time to write a review and I hope when they return we will be getting a 5 out of 5. Many thanks.

Jacqui and I moved over from Maidstone in Kent , South of England in 2007 to change our direction in life from in my case working for PLC's in the Record and Brewery industry to setting up a business for ourselves in the tourist industry, I guess with my background of sales and marketing and Jacqui's secretarial experience it seemed a good match to work in an industry where you need to want to help people who are often investing in their one of the most important weeks of the year and also the need to be organised in helping with the numerous questions we often get, here at Vine Ridge Retreats we work on repeat business and recommendations and as you can see after 17 years of which we have run the business we are here for the long-term.

The pleasure of seeing guests faces when they witness how majestic the views are from this incredible area of Spain never fades and in an ever changing world Comares due to being build on a mountain does not change and is often a comfort factor for customers coming back.

Why they chose this property

Our decision making in choosing this area was that for only being one hour from Malaga we are in a stunning part of Andalucia with both Moutain Views and Sea Views.
Vine Ridge Retreats and all the properties we manage is located in the real Spain but with added bonus you can be on the beach in around 30 minutes , the lovely city of Malaga in one hour and also Granada in around 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Comares the local village is only a 10 minute drive from us and can be walked to depending on fitness levels in 20 minutes, again this is an authentic village where tourists and locals mix and the views are simply stunning.
