Less than a 10 minute stroll from Sarlat's medieval city where you will find Sarlat's famous farmers' market (Weds & Sats), gastronomic restaurants, pavement cafes, street performers, historic buildings and so much more.

Our beautiful period stone townhouse comes complete with private heated pool, parking for 2 vehicles (3 spaces in total), 3 bedrooms (one en-suite) all of which have 5* hotel quality goose feather duvets, feather pillows and white Egyptian cotton bedding which makes for a wonderful relaxing sleep. Comfortably sleeping 6 people, 2 bath/shower rooms (one of which is en-suite) and an additional ground floor cloakroom W.C.

We have English language TV with a VPN so you can choose your country of choice, or you can have French language TV if you prefer. The house has gas central heating allowing guests a comfortable stay all year round.

GROUND FLOOR:
There is a fully fitted kitchen and dining area equipped with everything to make your stay an enjoyable one, oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, coffee machine, kettle, toaster etc.

Dual aspect lounge with twin sofas, flat screen television and dual aspect windows overlooking the petanque courts.

A ground floor cloakroom WC.

The flooring throughout is a mixture of beautiful chestnut and/or antique pine.

FIRST FLOOR:
ENSUITE MASTER BEDROOM: MASTER BEDROOM with king size 160cm bed and EN-SUITE shower and WC facilities.

TWIN BEDROOM: Opposite the master bedroom is a large TWIN bedroom with two single beds and lovely bright dual aspect windows. If required, we can put an additional single fold away guest bed in to accommodate 3 people in this room - by request, ideal for a family house sharing.

TOP FLOOR:
Lovely BEDROOM in the eaves with original beams (the doorway into this room has a reduced door height). The bed in this room can be made up as a single or king size 160cm bed, depending on your requirements.

Full size family BATHROOM complete with curved bath, shower, WC, hand basin. bathroom cabinets (the doorway into this bathroom has a reduced door height).

GARDEN:
Private heated above-ground 5.5m x 3.5m pool open from May through to September (into October is possible but will be dependent on the season's temperatures), wrap around south facing sun terraces and covered rear terrace providing shelter from the midday sun. The private rear garden has several mature trees and shrubs and a small lawn area. There are lovely flowering Mock Orange trees which arch over the gravel path leading up to the house and a beautiful rambling wisteria leads from the house to the pool area. We have six comfortable sun loungers on the decking areas by the pool, with two large sun shades if required. Pool towels are provided when the pool is in use.

There are several outside seating areas to choose from, either in the sun or shade, with a lovely shaded external dining area for six people plus a BBQ.

We have created a lovely private town house from which you can stroll to the gourmet restaurants in Sarlat. Most restaurants are less than 10 minute walk of the house so you can enjoy a few glasses of wine when dining out without having to worry about driving (taxis tend to be very expensive here in rural France and must be ordered in advance!).

Sarlat is a small medieval town of exceptional beauty with its narrow winding streets, stone roofs and medieval and renaissance architecture. You will be mesmerized by over 1000 years of art and architecture at every turn, all accessible within 10 minutes on foot from your Sarlat holiday home. And the beauty of our location is that you can sit in the garden enjoying the pool or having your lunch and it's peaceful enough to hear the birds sing.

Please be wary of listings that claim to be in Sarlat or 5 or 10 minutes from Sarlat. This often refers to driving time. We are a genuine 10 minute walk to the medieval center. We've heard countless stories from holidaymakers believing they were coming to stay in Sarlat but have had to travel miles to get anywhere.

You can visit Sarlat's famous farmers' market and food hall or indulge in French pavement cafe culture while you watch the world pass by. Sarlat has many free events and attractions throughout the year including a Christmas market with ice rink. With events taking place almost every month of the year, there is always a good time to visit Sarlat! In summer you will find street performers, open air theatres, music festivals, fireworks, acrobats, musicians and clowns providing nightly shows for your entertainment. After a day spent messing about on the river, visiting caves, medieval bastide villages and chateaux, why not sit on the terrace with a glass of wine and watch the locals play Petanque, or even have a go yourself.

There really is something for everyone here in Sarlat, right on your doorstep...

AVAILABILITY:
Maison de Breuil is available to rent all year round.

Geraldine was absolutely wonderful with communication. Directions, ideas on things to do , nearby grocery stores , etc. she met us at the home and gave us a full tour . The house is charming !!! The bed linens were so wonderful ; I slept like a baby . There is a pool , a grill, outdoor seating in 2 locations: 1 to dine in the backyard by the grill and 1 in front to enjoy a cocktail and watch the neighborhood. Parking is convenient! Easy to get in and out of town . The location is walkable into the medieval center city to explore the many shops and cafes . It is also a convenient location for exploring the beautiful villages in the Dordogne. I highly recommend staying here !

Beautiful house, perfect location!

We spent a very hot week at this lovely property, so the pool was a very welcome feature! The house itself is beautiful, furnishings all very stylish and the bed linen is amazing for a rental property. The location of the property is the icing on the cake, easy walk into Sarlat. Communication with the hosts, Paul & Leanne was excellent. We’d highly recommend this property!

La Maison Breuil is a fantasy house with parking out front, two showers and close to town. It is a great place to stay and a good home base for exploring. And a high speed internet connection with WiFi.

Perfect house for exploring the Dordogne

We had a amazing holiday here. Leanne ad Paul take great pride in offering a well-equipped, clean and comfortable home. The gardens and pool are a lovely place to soak up some sun at the end of a day exploring the area. Sarlat old town is a pleasant 5 minute stroll and so many of the highlights of the Dordogne valley are within a 20 minute drive. We all had a fabulous time and thoroughly recommend the house.

A wonderful stay in Sarlat

This was one of the best holidays we have had in 30 years. The house was elegant, comfortable and very conveniently situated in Sarlat. It was so relaxing to be able to wander into the town, visit a few places, buy a few things to eat and return and sit in the garden. We had a Dordogne golf pass which gave us discount on any rounds after the first. We were sorry to leave and hope to return to this ideal holiday house.

Sarlat

Great house , 5 mins walk from all facilities in Sarlat. Pool is a decent size for location of the house. Met all our needs for a week’s stay . If going back to Sarlat I would book again. One thing I would maybe change is the TV . The kids found it a little slow to get onto Netflix . It’s a minor issue though. Overall splendid place and perfect location.

Great house

Very well presented, clean ,fully equipped and a great pool. Also 5 to 10 mins walk from the mediaeval part of Sarlat. Our host, Paul, was really good and especially helpful before our holiday. The airport decided to rent out cars for about 1 hour per day. Now sorted and we picked up a car from the airport. He really went above and beyond to help. Well deserved 5 star

Great location to start your vacation

We had five adults in our party and had a lovely time. We loved the patios for eating al fresco. The street was quiet, and we used the petanque court daily and were so happy there was a set of balls for us to use. The markets were fabulous, however, you must shop carefully because the refrigerator is small. You'll have to eat your ice cream in town, because there is no freezer. The walk to town was just the right length. Relaxing but not too far. Maybe 7 minutes. The dishwasher and clothes washer work very well, but when doing laundry, mind your head. I hit mine several times because the washer is in a small closet under the staircase. There is no clothes drying machine: It's a clothes line and drying rack. The free Internet telephone line was so great to have. We could call home with no problems. And the Internet connection was very fast. The home has many pamphlets and such to point out tourist sites nearby: castles and caves. And the restaurant Paula recommended in Beynac was superb. By the way, Paula was top-notch to work with. She responded to e-mails beyond promptly and her team of local helpers (Steven and Leslie) were kind, efficient and speedily responsive to any and all of our requests. Great people. The beds were very, very comfortable and we slept peacefully. Lots of day-trip opportunities nearby. Sarlat is a great base for touring. We'd recommend this town highly, and this property as well.

We spent 10 unforgettable days in this charming holiday house in Sarlat as a family of four, and it truly exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the owners made us feel incredibly welcome—friendly, attentive, and always happy to help with any query, they played a big part in making our break as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. The house itself is full of character, with that quintessential French charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a postcard. The kitchen was impressively well-equipped, making meal prep a breeze, whether we were whipping up a quick lunch or preparing ingredients for one of our many BBQs. We spent countless evenings chatting under the porch, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoying the outdoor space. The pool was a real highlight—perfect for cooling off during the warm afternoons and ideal for unwinding with a book or a drink in hand. The living room was cozy and comfortable, with lovely views overlooking the pétanque court, adding a delightful touch of local flair to our stay. All in all, this was a fantastic base for exploring the beauty of Sarlat and the surrounding Dordogne region. We left with wonderful memories and would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing, authentic French getaway.

Property was excellent and all was as advertised. Location great - 800m max from town centre. Good parking, facilities and pool. High quality property in excellent location and the hosts were fantastic and made it all very easy. For us the only constructive feedback would be a more comfortable sofa in the lounge (which is a tiny point). Would highly recommend to anyone looking for stay in Sarlat. Lovely historic property. We stayed for 5 nights. It is a great location for walking into the old city (5 minute walk) and a great base for visiting the Dordogne area. The kitchen was bright and well appointed and the living room comfortable. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms are modern. It is cool to see door locks that are probably 100 years old. Regretfully it was too cold for us to enjoy the lovely outdoor seating areas. Geraldine was wonderful in answering all of our questions. Just a few things to note: the bedrooms are all up a beautiful staircase so you will be going up and down the stairs. Also, there is a washing machine but no dryer (there is a laundry in town about a 5 minute walk away.) There was a metal hanging rack which we used to dry our clothes. We would stay there again. Thank you!

Lovely house in a great location

My wife and I stayed with our 3 adult sons. The house, garden and pool were all lovely. The top room which has an en-suite bathroom has very low doors which presented a minor hazard for our very tall sons. There are several outside seating areas where we ate some great meals prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, with ingredients from the local markets and shops. The house is within easy walking distance of all of the many attractions of Sarlat, where we enjoyed some excellent meals. There is very convenient private parking. All in all, highly recommended.

Great location for walking into Sarlat

The property is in a great location to walk into Sarlat with its many restaurants. After a day out exploring the area it was a pleasure to go back to the house that was exceptionally clean and had all the facilities we needed. In the evening it was great to relax drinking local wine on the terrace overlooking the boule pitches. The hosts were available via WhatsApp to answer any questions and gave suggestions on where to visit and eat.

Lovely house, great location.

The house is well equipped, beds and sofas very comfortable and the pool lovely to cool off in on the rare hot days we had! The plan for us was always to relax for two weeks, which we were able to do, particularly as the house was so nice. It is only a few minutes walk to the old town, restaurants and shops. We enjoyed watching the pétanque games from the front terrace with a glass of wine or a coffee, depending on the time of day. Paul and Leanne were very friendly and approachable if needed, and we would have no hesitation in recommending the house to anyone looking for a well placed and well maintained house in Sarlat.

Unique Experience

We very much enjoyed our stay, it is indeed very convenient, both for enjoying the town and also for exploring the area. I do agree with other reviews, if you have mobility issues this will not work for you. The walk up and down from the parking area is steep. That being said, if you do not have mobility issues then you will love this place. It is an easy walk into town, but do not rely on GPS, just go out the front gate, walk to toward the right and down the road by the pétanque and keep going straight until you reach the main road and then turn left. If you want coffee in the morning turn right at the first street rather than go all the way down the hill and turning left, otherwise you will find it a longer walk. We enjoy walking so it was no problem. The communication with the hosts was perfect, always a quick reply. If you want to do some wash do know there is no dryer, but there are two hanging racks, and a clothes line under a covered arbor. The bed was very comfortable, we slept great! But also know there is no closet for hanging longer garments. If blow drying your hair is important then you need to know that they do not allow electric outlets in the bathrooms, you must be able to do this without the need for a mirror. It seems minor but it was a challenge for me with longer hair. The kitchen is well equipped, the oven is amazing, very responsive and the dishwasher left everything sparkling. We left feeling like we didn't want to leave, the place is really lovely.

Why they chose this property

Stunning period property with many original features, private heated pool, mature private garden and a stroll into Sarlat on foot. What more could you ask for?

What makes this property unique

This is a wonderful turn of the century period stone town house with good size mature private garden set within an easy 10 minute stroll of Sarlat. La Maison Breuil is situated in a fantastic, residential central location. With only a short walk to the wonderful boulangeries for your morning croissants and freshly baked baguettes. Everything you wish to sample, restaurants, shopping, sight seeing etc is right on your doorstep. We love to wander into the town purchasing plenty of local produce: foie gras; confit de canard; goat cheese etc. then stroll back home within a few minutes and enjoy our feast on the patio watching the locals playing Petanque in the tree lined square at the front of the house, an ultimate French experience.
