Lovely sandy beaches, rock pools and safe bathing, South Beach has its own designated swimming area with lifeguard cover.
The first floor apartment with panoramic views over Cardigan Bay is located on the junction of Wellington Place and Church Street. Six large windows over look the beach, to allow perfect viewing of the beach and bay. you can enjoy your meals, and relax in the lounge or bedrooms, and spot dolphins and seals which are seen most days swimming and diving right in front of the windows. One further window overlooks the harbour.
It is worth noting that Cardigan Bay is one of only two places in the uk with resident dolphins.
A little further along, past the lifeboat station and the sailing school is the bigger Cei Bach beach. All are rated as Blue flag beaches for water quality. There are boat trips available from the harbour to explore the Marine Heritage Coast and spot the dolphins even in the winter time, weather permitting. Watersports such as sailing, windsurfing, paddle boarding and power boating are available from the beach. Fishing is another popular pastime, with the chance to catch sea bass, crab and lobster.
All the amenities you may need from restaurants, pubs, groceries, boutique shops, ice creams and fish and chips are all immediately to hand. The local shops are a high standard, offering a wide variety of quality goods and a very friendly service.
The area is historically linked with Dylan Thomas, poet and author of ‘Under Mike Wood’ and there is a route signposted to trace his favourite haunts. The village of New Quay is no new comer to catering for holidaymakers. It was welcoming 10000 visitors a year in Queen Victorias day.
