About this property
Cottage in Pegwell Village, Ramsgate great for cliff top walks and sandy beaches
Floral Cottage is an historic house on the viking trail coastal cycling route. Located next to Kent wildlife trust's largest nature reserve, Sandwich and Pegwell Bay. Close to local taverns with outdoor seating and cliff top views and an easy 2km walk into Ramsgate town centre and its royal harbour. There are sandy beaches in walking distance.
The cottage was built around 1830. The ground floor has a lounge with television, two sofas, dining area and fully equipped kitchen with oven and induction hob. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms (one with double bed and the other with two singles) and modern bathroom with shower over bath. The kitchen leads to the 30 metres garden.
It is a great place to relax and makes an excellent base for touring Kent and the Isle of Thanet. Neighbouring towns of Broadstairs, Margate and Sandwich are a short drive away. Other historic towns and places of interest such as Canterbury Cathedral and Dover Castle can be reached within 30 mins drive.
The location of the house is in a quiet village on the outskirts of Ramsgate, but there are two family friendly pubs with restaurants very close by, so it is not isolated. The house does not have its own off-street parking, and due to the narrow road it is not legal to park immediately outside the house. There is free on-street parking 100 metres in either direction, and it is possible to stop outside to pick up or drop off bags and passengers. The area is popular with golfers and bird-watchers. Local water-sports include kite surfing, SUP and kayaking.

What makes this property unique
In the long history of the cottage it has been used as a sea captain's retirement home, Tea Gardens and a Florists. It is possible that potted shrimps were served to a young Queen Victoria in the Tea Gardens before she came to the throne.
There is a network of tunnels running under the houses in the village coming from the bottom of the cliffs and under the Belle Vue, which were used by smugglers in days of old.
