About this property

Cottage in Central Falmouth, Parking & Garden

Summary:
This beautifully renovated 18th Century grade II listed cottage for six people is located in a sought after location in the heart of the town, just a stones throw from Falmouth harbour and the beaches of Falmouth bay. The property is a 2-minute walk to the water at Custom's House Quay, set back from the high street with a spacious garden and parking, the property makes for a perfect Falmouth stay.

The Space:
Not only is the property deceivingly spacious, every room has been renovated to a superb standard and with a stylish finish. Downstairs, the large living room features gorgeous fabric sofas, a large Smart TV with apps and a log-burner that's perfect for cosy nights in. Crisp white walls and tranquil furnishings have been perfectly paired with exposed wooden floorboards, a large sash window and elegant shutters. Leading on, the large shaker-style kitchen is equipped with high-quality mod cons so you'll certainly enjoy cooking meals here. And sociable meals can be best enjoyed around the gorgeous farmhouse dining table that looks out over the leafy garden.

Upstairs, the master bedroom has a zip-link super king bed that can also turn into a twin, as well as ample storage space for clothes and a restored fireplace. Next door you will find a further king-sized double and twin room both with comfortable beds and homely furnishings. These share a well-sized family bathroom with a shower and bath, as well as an additional shower room - both of which have been newly renovated. The garden, with its well-kept lawn and pretty borders, is a delightful place to relax in the sun and there's a dining set to gather around with a barbecue or evening drink! A quality finish, stunning location and close proximity to Falmouth's beaches and restaurants makes this is a perfect holiday cottage for a coastal getaway. Free parking for one vehicle.

Guest Access:
Guests will have full access to the house.

The Neighborhood:
Falmouth is one of Cornwall's most loved towns, brimming with independent shops, a brilliant foodie scene and three stunning beaches. In just a short wander down the road, you will find freshly baked breads, cakes, pastries and savoury tarts in Oggies Cornish Bakery and good pub grub at Five Degrees West. The Star & Garter on the high street, around 10 mins walk, is also worth a visit for its award-winning menu. A little further, you will find the Falmouth Docks and within half an hour you can walk all the way to Pendennis Point - a must-see for epic views from the castle.

The town is loved for its creative feel and maritime heritage. If you love food, the annual Oyster Festival in October is the perfect time to visit. The festival marks the start of the oyster dredging season and celebrates the very best Cornish seafood.

A short drive from Falmouth, you'll find National Trust-owned Trelissick Gardens, with a woodland walk that’s free to enjoy and takes you right down to the banks of the River Fal. For a post-walk pint, we would recommend heading to The Pandora Inn (around 15 mins from the gardens). Its sea-front location makes it one of the prettiest places for a pint this side of the Tamar.

If beaches are your thing, Falmouth has plenty to choose from. Both Gyllyngvase and Swanpool Beach offer excellent conditions for swimming and sunbathing, and if you're lucky you may even catch the odd wave. A walk around the headland to Hooked on the Rocks is well-worth it on a sunny day, and it's even better with a drink at sunset.

Getting Around:
There is free parking for one car adjacent to the property entrance.

Given the remote nature of Cornwall, a car is recommended for getting the most out of your stay here. That said, the property is conveniently located and Falmouth has very good transport links with trains running from London Paddington all the way into the town centre. Falmouth Town station is a six minute walk from the house, and from here you can hop on for one stop to the end of the line at Falmouth docks or to Penryn in the other direction - a quaint fishing village.

Other Things to Note:
There is free parking for one car adjacent to the property entrance. There is a selection of car parks available locally, for any additional vehicles.

Dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog (max 2). It is on the condition they are not allowed on the soft furnishings or in the bedrooms.

Please also note that there will be a mid week check up carried out by the hot tub maintenance company to ensure it remains safe to use. If your arrival is on a Friday or Saturday, this will be on a Tuesday. For other arrival days, this will be on day 3 or 4 of your stay.

Interaction with Guests:
We will be available via message, email and phone during your stay. Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Review of Holiday cottage, Overall Standard Poor
Although the location was central and stated that there was car parking for 2 cars. We had a very rude letter left on our windscreen to state that this was not the case. Furthermore the location is extremely noisy and with large corporate bins across the alley from the property that were emptied every morning at 06.45am. The bins attracted rats and were very smelly. The front door desperately needs replacing at t was very difficult to lock and hence a security issue. There was a disgusting sewage smell in the lounge that was constantly nauseating . The cottage did not feel clean and the floors downstairs need replacing immediately. The heating didn't work and we had to call the agent when eventually a plumber came. We paid a significant amount of money for the cottage and this was in no way value for money. I would urge everyone considering this cottage not to stay there as you would be disappointed,

A great house in an excellent location
We were four adults and a young baby and the house ticked all our boxes. The rooms were generous to large, bathrooms and kitchen were well equipped and clean, the TV service and hot tub were hugely welcome (and well used) luxuries which added to the experience. The location was just amazing - a one minute walk from Trago and the nicest part of the high street, next to the harbour and docks. And Will was very responsive when we had questions. It was pricey but I would say good value considering the size, comfort, little luxuries and location. Highly recommended.

Over priced for the cottage
We arrived and the cleaners locked us out so had to wait to get into property The kitchen and both bathrooms are newish but have issues The front bathroom had cracked tiles on the floor where water leaked into hallway wall where there was a damp patch visible The seal around the bath in front bedroom was missing The cottage smelt damp constantly There was a hole in the wall by main front bedroom Also damp in front twin room The throws and cushions in the lounge were dirty and should be changed after every booking The towels in bathrooms were every small and poor quality The toilet seats were loose and were unsteady Carpet damaged by main front bedroom Bottom stair carpet loose and became a health and safety issue Garden needs attention as lots of weeds etc made it not very pleasant to sit in Cleaning needs to be improved as sockets, switches, skirting boards and under sofas in lounge are all dirty Arrived and bins overflowing with rubbish causing issues with seagulls trying to get into bin bags We spent a lot of money on this cottage and we are so disappointed with the quality and cleanliness Not worth the money !!!!!

Beautiful cottage in perfect location
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage in Falmouth with our family and our two dogs. It is such a homely cottage and also exceptionally clean. The front and back gardens are both spacious and enjoyable, and the lounge and kitchen area are great for socialising too. The jacuzzi was also a fab addition to our stay. We were able to walk to all areas in Falmouth including the shops, the harbour, the restaurants and of course the wonderful Gyllyngvase beach and beyond. We would love to return and will definitely be recommending this property to our friends. Thanks
