Clean, centrally located apartment in Madrid, walking distance to many attractions

Enjoyed our stay. Smooth check in process and easy to access apartment. Within walking distance of key Madrid attractions and restaurants. Very clean and renovated apartment.

Nice apartment in an authentic Madrid neighborhood

We really enjoyed this apartment. At first, the surrounding neighborhood looked a little bit gritty. But, once we easily got settled into this nice apartment and spent time in our neighborhood, we ended up loving it. There were lots of great “locals-only” restaurants nearby and some fun boutique shops. Plus, it was also convenient to a lot of the major cultural attractions.

Mixed bag

Was really worried before we got there. Madflats failed to respond to multiple requests for info made through the VRBO app. I had no idea if we would even get in. Tried calling them early evening but no one there spoke English. Once we arrived I phoned them again and we finally got things sorted out and got in. Place itself was a very nice, very clean suite one floor above street level. Had huge fridge and freezer, cooktop, dishwasher, fully supplied kitchen. Air conditioning worked. Two TVs but only the living room one was tied in to cable. Free Netflix and Prime! Unfortunately balcony was too tiny to sit on. Leather couch was uncomfortable due to really low back. Area very lively, all the main sights are within easy walking distance (under 30 minutes, most 15 or 20) lots of restaurants, bars, convenience and grocery stores nearby. Area can be hilly. Building is super quiet but street is noisy until midnight. And you can hear garbage pick up each night. Windows don’t insulate sound much. So some pluses and minuses. But I’d stay here again.

Good, but could have been better.

My first impressions were not good, then it grew on me. Getting inside with simple. It was small, but expected. We ended up using the dining room table for suitcases because there was nowhere else to put them. The bed was flat sheets on the bottom & it kept coming untucked. 2 pillows on the bed & 2 more on the closet, but they had no pillowcases. The shower was great! Zero counter space in the bathroom & the bidet was situated so it was not usable. There was a towel warmer but it never got warm. Only 2 towels for 6 days. Could have used more hand towels. The hair dryer was awful! There was a little Juliet balcony that was excellent for people watching! The kitchen was very basic. I couldn't find scissors. There were no extras like spices or coffee for the machine, no trash bags, there were only 2 pods for the washer/ dryer. Our main reason for the VRBO was to be able to wash clothes but the machine came with no instructions & it did not dry at all. There was a drying rack but space became an issue. And the warming rack did not work. The location was good. There was a great coffee shop to the right, Lula's cafe & 2 really great bars super close in either direction. Most of our time was spent to the north in touristy areas but, the last day we went south at the suggestion of one of the bartenders & it was a great local scene! A market with food vendors & a place that sold craft beers & it was definitely locals more than tourists. The place just lacked a bit compared to others.
