Seaview cottage, restored to high spec with fantastic estuary views. Fully equipped house 100 metres from the main Appledore Quay. 1 Kingsize with roll top bath en suite, 1 double en suite and a twin with a separate toilet. The twin room has a TV with DVD player. There is a kitchen, dining area and living room. Kitchen fully equipped, dishwasher, fridge plus free standing freezer. There are cleaning materials and tea towels. There are no bath towels provided but there are bath mats.
This holiday home is arranged over 2 floors.
Ground Floor - Entrance area with Washer Dryer. Separate toilet. King-size bed with en-suite, twin room
1st Floor - Double bed with en suite, kitchen diner with a dining table. Microwave, Dishwasher, Fridge and separate free standing Fridge Freezer. The living room has fantastic views plus an electric log burner fire in the living room.
There is no gas central heating. Each room has electric heaters. There is a stairgate.
Outdoor space - accessed via some steps, there is plenty room for bikes, surfboards etc along with a table, chairs and a washing line.
The Location
Appledore is a lovely fishing village with great pubs, cafes, restaurants and live music widely available for free (in the pubs).
Appledore is ideally situated between Cornwall and Exmoor.
Appledore and Instow are situated on the River Torridge
Appledore and Instow are likened to rock and padstow on a smaller scale. Appledore Quay does not have a beach, but Instow has a lovely dog-friendly sandy beach at high and low tide.
The Ferry runs daily between Appledore and Instow (dogs go free), crossing time only 10 minutes! The ferry runs depending on the tide times.
Appledore is on the Southwest Coast Path and Instow is located on the Tarka Trail! If you're up for an active holiday, the Tarka Trail is a great cycling path which is the longest continous off-road path in the UK with views ranging from natural countryside to sea cliffs and beaches! The Torridge Estuary is fast-moving with tidal currents which can be dangerous for inexperienced swimmers, paddleboarders, kayakers. The safest place to kayak, or paddleboard, would be from the life boat station in West Appledore over towards Northam Burrows. This is also a great safe place to swim!
Instow is safe for swimming kayaking and paddle boarding.
Westward Ho is ideal for surfing if that's the way you drift! There is also a seawater swimming pool available at mid and low tides at Westward Ho if you enjoy a more relaxing time.

APPLEDORE BOOK FESTIVAL- The 2021 Festival, taking place from Thursday 16th September to the 25th. Appledore Book Festival is now in its 15th year and has established itself as one of the UK'S most regarded literary festivals. Welcoming world-class renowned authors, newcomers and local authors it means there's something for everybody. Tihs years line up includes authors such as Rick Stein, Hayley Mills, Ruby Wax, Gavin Esler, Alan Johnson and Michael Morley. It's a must visit!
Live music is a must see- the atmosphere is lively and energetic. It brilliantly adds to the experience of a holiday near the seaside. Blues, fiddle, sea shanties, jazz, folk, blue grass, jamming, open mike nights. Something for everyone's tastes!
Many lovely places to visit with your children and dog-friendly beaches all year round making sure your furry buddy won't miss out on your holiday adventures! These include places like the Tarka Trail, Southwest Coastpath, seaside walks amongst others!
Appledore Book Festival is an amazing event held yearly with famous authors, politicians, TV personalities etc who hold various events during the course over 3 or 4 days usually around September by ticket only (bookable online), so be sure to make your way down! Have a browse on the internet to see the up and coming events to see if your interest is piqued.
Northam Burrows; Northam Burrows Country Park is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and part of the Unesco Biosphere. It's an area of grassy coastal plain with salt marsh, sand dunes and grasslands. It's a great place for a walk, kayaking, golf. The oldest links cause in the country. It also provides access to Westward Ho! Beach. It can also be an opportunity for spotting many birds and wildlife!

Appledore has a new ITV series on Channel 4 due to be launched in Autumn 2021 called The Long Call, which is a detective series based in Bristol, Appledore, Croyde, Westward Ho, Ilfracombe, Bideford amongst other places. This is based off the best-selling author Ann Cleeve's book.

Taw and Torridge Coaches is offering a free hop on-hop off Coach service for tourists and locals. The free "Potwalloper" service will link the three popular tourist locations of Northam, Appledore and Westward Ho! on Wednesdays and Sundays, with an hourly service from 9.30am - 4.30pm, throughout the summer holidays.
