About this property
Stylish lodge w/ spa bathrooms, river, views, hot tub, between 2 Yosemite Gates
Welcome to our modern lodge, set on 10 private acres with a river running through the property. The Yosemite valley is 55 mins away and accessible year-round, for 4 season fun, via a beautiful drive through the wild and scenic Merced river canyon. We are 8-10 mins to the shops, bars and restaurants in downtown Mariposa.
We’ve combined the best of modern and rustic into a newly remodeled, luxurious and comfortable space. Spend the day cooling off in our river. Or maybe an afternoon reading in a hammock built for 2. Sink into comfy Adirondack chairs and share a drink at sunset on the large deck. Cook a delicious dinner in the fully equipped cook’s kitchen. At the end of your day, snuggle in front of the large fireplace.
Nestled on an oak-dotted hillside just outside of the historic town of Mariposa, our newly remodeled space has all the luxurious comfort and conveniences you need, combined with the peaceful solitude and nature of a mountain vacation home. From the large deck or wraparound porch, and numerous spots around the property, you can take in the gorgeous sunset views, the twinkling stars at night, or the native landscaping and visiting wildlife. Cook on the propane BBQ and enjoy a relaxed meal outside on a warm summer evening.
The house has an open floor plan. The living room flows to the large, cook’s kitchen and dining area, bringing everyone together while cooking and socializing. The living area has plenty of room and comfortable seating for you to enjoy watching DVDs or shows on your Netflix and Amazon account on the flat screen tv. Sit in a corner on one of the cushioned benches to read a book from the library, overlook the view from the windows and sliding glass doors, play one of the many card and board games, or snuggle into the couches and enjoy the warmth of the stone fireplace. The house also has high speed wi-fi, so you can check email and surf the web if you need to.
The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel appliances, and everything you might need to create a wonderful meal, plus make your coffee in the morning. (For those foodies out there, please message us and we’d be happy to discuss the appliances, kitchen tools and basic cooking ingredients at the house.)
The large farmhouse table seats 8 and is next to a bar area so there's plenty of room to spread out. There is a good assortment of glasses, a cocktail shaker, cocktail making supplies, electric wine opener and a blender available for your enjoyment. A full-sized ping-pong table, and other outdoor games are only steps away from the kitchen and patio, so the entertainment can easily be continued from one spot to the next.
The house has air conditioning and central heating and sleeps 4 comfortably, with a king bed in the master bedroom, a queen bed in the second room, and a comfortable queen-sized sleeper sofa in the living room. (One of our guests told us the sleeper sofa was more comfortable than their mattress at home!) We supply all the bedding for the sleeper sofa. Each bedroom has blackout blinds. The master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom with double sinks, tub and shower, and separate toilet. The second bedroom also has a bathroom with shower, single sink and toilet. Each bathroom has bath towels, hand towels, soap and lotion, and a hairdryer.
There is a full laundry room on site, complete with laundry soap and dryer needs. Feel free to use them as needed.
The price includes an 12% transient occupancy tax that is required and collected by the county of Mariposa. This house sits privately on acreage surrounded by nature. As in any mountainous setting, wild animals could visit the property.
The river on the property is seasonal. It usually flows October to July depending on rainfall.
Burn restrictions are in effect in the summer, and usually extend from late May until late October. NO FIRES.

About the host
Hosted by Natalie Zensius

Hi and very nice to meet you!
My husband Jon and I are looking forward to welcoming you to our river house in the woods and doing everything we can to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
I grew up in England, and moved to California for art school in my early twenties, having spent time on the east coast first. I’m now in marketing. Jon is a third-generation Californian and runs a design-build business.
We’re conscious of our home environment and setting it up well. The house is in a beautiful setting that’s secluded and quiet and provides everything you need for a relaxing vacation. Some of our most cherished times have been spent here–from gatherings with friends and family, to quiet, romantic weekends, with just the two of us.
We hope to have the pleasure to meet you and help you enjoy your time in Mariposa and Yosemite as much as we do! Please don’t hesitate to message me if you have any questions.

Why they chose this property
When we’re not working, we enjoy traveling, both around the States and internationally, and use AirBnB as much as we can. We also love being out in nature and get away to camp and backpack frequently. We divide our time between the San Francisco bay area and Mariposa. Yosemite is one of our favorite places in the world and we’re passionate about sharing our knowledge, appreciation and love for the park and surrounding areas.
What makes this property unique
We fell in love with this property because of its proximity to Yosemite and all the outdoor opportunities close by. We also love the town of Mariposa and all the fun places to eat and drink there.
The property itself is quiet and secluded and we have 1/4 mile of river running through it. When we don't feel like leaving, we can hike and swim and relax on the river. It's a great retreat in and of itself.
