About this property
Maggio Frescoes In Florence, Tuscany
Beautiful 80 sq. m. apartment for two people with a double bedroom featuring a small balcony and bathroom, furnished tastefully with antique furniture and paintings, in a prestigious historical building in the centre of Florence, very close to the Arno river. Interior The property is on the first floor of a marvellous historical building in Via Maggio, one of the finest in the whole city centre. The aristocratic building dates back to about 1470 and boasts a majestic courtyard, with a portico on three of its sides, decorated with statues. The apartment features a small living room with access to a small balcony, a well-equipped cooking area with dining table, a double bedroom (mattress with topper) and bathroom with bathtub. Location The property is in the historical area called “Oltrarno”: the name translates to “on the other side of the Arno” and is on the south side of the river. Oltrarno holds the true essence of Florence: a quiet area with many green spaces, making it more relaxing than other parts of the city, making it more and more appreciated by tourists. The area is also famous for its artisans, its beautiful workshops, small shops and studios (especially antique and leather dealers): via Maggio is the heart of Florence’s antique trade. Over the centuries, Oltrarno became a stylish area where many aristocrats built their palaces and villas: the largest of these is definitely Palazzo Pitti, where the Gran Duca di Toscana lived. Palazzo Pitti now hosts many of the city’s most important museums and exhibitions. The area also features the Cappella Brancacci with magnificent frescoes by Masaccio, Masolino e Filippino Lippi, Piazzale Michelangelo with its breathtaking view of Florence, the picturesque church of San Miniato (one of the highest points of the city and the best example of Romanic art in Tuscany) and Ponte Vecchio with its many jewellers and goldsmiths. Palazzo Pitti is also home to the marvellous Boboli gardens, an open-air museum with sculptures dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries.
Facilities Maggio Frescoes has air conditioning which can be used from June to September, heating, wifi, hairdryer, toaster, iron and ironing board.
Services The price includes bathroom, bedroom and kitchen linen, internet, heating, water and gas for cooking, electricity. Hired help is available upon request and to be paid for at the property.

The location -just south of the Trinity Bridge- was wonderful
The location -just south of the Trinity Bridge- was wonderful. The courtyard and security very good. The rooms plush and well appointed. The kitchen is tiny but who wants to cook in Florence when you have such wonderful choices.
Pros: Maggio Frescos is a luxurious and sumptuous apartment within a prestigious building with a stellar location, only moments from the Arno. Quiet with a comfortable bed, and patio for morning coffee or PM cocktail before going out to dine. Great WiFi and television. Air cool/warm system is very efficient. Very reasonable mid-week cleaning and linen change upon request. Nicollo, the host is very amiable, helpful, and quick to respond to requests. Moments from my favorite neighborhood, Santo Spirito with fab Aperitivo locations. If you want to feel luxuriated, pampered, plan to eat every meal out and best location, this is a winner!
Cons: On the first level (but two sets of marble staircases total 44 steps). Kitchen is smaller than appears in photo, crowded and suitable for making coffee or snacks only. Amazingly equipped with 4 burner stove, deep sink, dorm room size fridge which can be opened only when door closes you into small space. But so cramped no room to prepare food. It is a shame because the dining table is large and within a beautifully lite space.
