About this property
Fimbarr's Reach, a beautiful Fowey villa house with far reaching river views
If you haven't yet discovered Fimbarr's Reach Fowey, then you are in for a treat. With the local shops, pubs, restaurants and the river estuary a short stroll away, you can leave your car behind.
Fimbarr's Reach Fowey, is a stunning four storey villa house that is beautifully laid out with a spacious, lower ground floor kitchen/pantry and dining room with a separate utility area, boot room and WC. On the ground floor is a generous living room and hall, leading to the first floor with two bedrooms and shower room and a further two bedrooms and shower room on the second floor.
There’s an appealing decked courtyard at the rear which catches the sun through the day and is a great place to sit out and dine or read a book. Fimbarr’s Reach is perfect for either a small group or families.
With stunning multicoloured cottages, perched on the hillsides leading down to the sea, the little fishing town of Fowey has lots to offer.
For you foodies, there are restaurants offering tempting local produce, along with harbourside cafes and pubs which will give you a warm Cornish welcome and a good atmosphere. For you shoppers, there is a unique collection of local shops and boutiques, a refreshing change from your standard high street. For the water-sports enthusiasts among you, the town is a haven with kayaking and canoeing, boating and sailing available along the stretch of the river.
Things To Do
For Children
There’s plenty to keep your little ones (and big ones!) busy, Adrenaline quarry, Woody’s Bike Park, Kidzworld Adventure Play, Camel Creek, Football golf, Coasteering, Bike trails and cycle hire and of course the Eden Project.
For All
The Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan are very close by with Lanhydrock House, Luxulyon Viaduct Walk and the Bodmin Railway little further on.
There are hundreds of miles of fantastic walks in Cornwall. The South West Coastal Path winds a massive 630 miles around the county. The Fowey Hall Walk is just 4 miles and is the best way to see Fowey from every angle including from the river on the Polruan and Bodinnick ferries. The Gribbin Head walk is just fabulous and takes in the country side, a lake and the coastal path and is one of our regular walks.
If you want to travel a bit further then Carnglaze Caverns, Golitha Falls, Cornish Seal Sanctuary, St Michael's Mount, Tintagel Castle and Minak Theatre are all worth considering.
Also check out the National Trust and English Heritage websites as they have a wealth of information on things to do and more.
Dogs
Cornwall is wonderfully dog friendly and that’s just one of the reasons why we love it so much. Many of the pubs welcome dogs, Nearby Par beach and Polridmouth Cove are dog friendly all year round and most other beaches allow dogs but with some peak timing restrictions.
This is just a small sample of what’s on offer but whatever you decide to do, there is something for everyone and Fimbarr’s Reach is the perfect base for you to explore from.

About the host
Hosted by Patrick McManus

This is us enjoying a long summers evening of music and food on the beach at Carlyon Bay. We just love Cornwall and Fowey in particular, we've been holidaying here with our families and friends for years.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Fimbarr's Reach immediately. Ideally located in Fowey with far reaching views across the river, a light and spacious home we knew we would enjoy with our family and friends and it has never disappointed us, we love and enjoy it in all year round. We adore taking our dog to nearby Readymoney beach each morning, it’s an absolute joy to see him playing in the sea and sand! Whether we are working remotely or just enjoying a well-deserved holiday, is there a better way to begin your day?
What makes this property unique
The light enters the stunning sitting room, which stretches the full length of the house, from both sides through two large Victorian bay windows. The wonderful views across Fowey town, to St Fimbarrus Church (from which Fimbarr's Reach takes its name), Place House and the river can be seen from all rear windows. Can you imagine waking up to see the colourful Fowey River boats making their way to the estuary as the sunshine sparkles on the water, it's truly magical.
The open plan kitchen-diner opens out onto the rear decked courtyard garden and has been fabulously designed to be the heart of the home, big enough to entertain friends or family staying with you and cosy enough to be a place of retreat when the Cornish winds are racing up the estuary during the winter. There is a Boot Room and Laundry area to help with the practical aspects of a seaside holiday and an outside area to wash off the sand or hose down your muddy four-legged friend.
