A bespoke refurbished miners' cottage nestled on the flanks of the dramatic Moelwyn Range in the heart of Snowdonia, with stunning mountain views from the cottage conservatory. Comfort and luxury here!
Perfect retreat for outdoor lovers or romantic couples looking for something special.
Free Wifi; 55" Smart TV; Enclosed Garden with superb mountain views; Walk In shower; Open Fire in original range; Conservatory; Free parking (directly in front of the property)
All brand new! Just opened Summer 2021...
"Nyth-y-Gigfran" (Raven's Nest) takes it's name from the mountain it sits directly beneath and it's full of surprises. Ideally suited for those seeking to find adventure literally starting from the very doorstep. A lovingly restored miners' cottage located in the dramatic Snowdonia mountain scenery. It has been designed with every home comfort in mind to provide stylish, luxury, cozy, accommodation with particular attention to detail. Hillwalking and fell running abounds from the very doorstep - a labyrinth of footpaths with the choice of many, thoroughly off the beaten track. There is literally a footpath opposite the cottage and another that passes at the front, leading to many more and taking you well away from the crowds into the remoter corners of the National Park.
Walk through the front door into the living room with a very deep, comfy 3 seater sofa and armchair around the beautiful, restored, original cast iron range. An open fire can be built in it and has a large fireguard for protection (however, the ovens are not to be used). The oak dining table seats 3. Whether you're at the dining table or relaxing on the sofa you can enjoy the 55" smart TV anywhere in the room - perfect for Netflix or Amazon!
All joinery throughout the cottage is bespoke. The highlight being the stunning glass and oak staircase with oak hand turned newel posts, bannisters and panelling. A lovely pine stable door connects from the living room into the kitchen.
The stylish kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, microwave, ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, fan oven and extractor hood. French windows lead then into the relaxing conservatory, ideal for soaking up the stunning mountain views and enjoying your breakfast whilst planning the days adventure.
The newly built shower room is fully tiled with a rainfall shower and waterfall tap, along with heated towel rails for all seasons.
Upstairs... the airy, light, spacious double bedrooom has plenty of storage and a feature fireplace. Whilst the single bedroom has a comfy daybed and can also be used as a dressing room - the views from this room are fabulous.
Throughout the whole cottage, there are options for your choice of lighting to set the mood.
Centrally heated throughout (apart from the conservatory, which has a heater in the winter months).
Superfast Wifi.
Linen and T-towels provided.
Guests to provide own bath and hand towels.
The back garden has a fantastic mountain panorama backdrop. Quite awesome even in a raging storm when waterfalls galore present themselves! And in a storm the scenery can be enjoyed fron the comfort of the conservatory too!
Nyth-y-Gigfran is the perfect spot for relaxing and unwinding after a full on energetic day of adventure and exploration.
Please note: Sorry, no pets allowed at the property.
Other things to Note:
There is a back gate leading into the private field behind the back garden, this is for emergency use only and is to be closed at all tines. In the summer often two horses are in the field and we ask guests not to feed them.
The back garden is partially landscapted with seating areas to enjoy the stunning mountain scenery.
There is still one section that is work in progess (due to the installation of the very recent conservatory) and we ask guests not to venture into this area whilst the work is undertaken to landscape this area.
Parking for one car is immediately in front of the cottage, on the road, parallel to the curb (and not on the slate chippings or slabs please). There is also a small parking area opposite the cottage, set back from the road, if you have 2 cars. The road is extremely quite.
The check in time cannot be bought forward. It is any time from 4pm onwards.
Thank you.

About the host
Hosted by Jo
Love the outdoors, the remoter the better. Travelled extensively throughout the world with work and well-earned long holidays, camping and driving across the continents. It's the mountains that draw me, spending lots of time up in the Arctic and Canadian Rockies - "if you don't climb the mountain, you don't get the view"! And, of course, a few trip to the Scottish Highlands each year to bag a few more munros!
Why they chose this property
We aim to provide a bespoke service. Once you have arrived you don't need a car - the mountains are literally on your doorstep, just waiting to be explored! Caving opportunities are also available, along with rock climbing - just a stone's throw away are the popular Tanygrisiau Slabs. Ask me for details about the caving.
What makes this property unique
Our ancestral routes can be traced centuries back here in North Wales and we wish for you to love the regiona as much as we do. We are always on hand for any query whether it be in person or via messenging services. We have tremendous knowledge of the entire Snowdonia National Park and beyond and are very happy to give recommendations and advice to help plan your stay and whilst you are staying at the cottage.
