About this property

Kauai Sunset & Ocean Views from Atop the Plumeria Trees

This location is truly special! While unwinding from a long day at the beach or hiking, I sit on the lanai with a cool, refreshing beverage or lay on the bed with the windows open and I feel like I am in the most luxurious tree house, simply magical. Where else can you look out a window, watch the waves roll in, the humpback whales frolicking(during whale season), golfers playing on the Makai Course and the Albatrosses dancing? You are atop the fragrant Plumeria Trees and you look out the bedroom window to the ocean or look out the slider, onto the lanai, for an amazing sunset, through the palm trees. Beauty embraces you! You walk out the front door, to the pool, or to the Championship Makai Golf course for a sunrise or sunset walk. Go for a short walk to Sea Lodge and there is a short trail (slippery when it has been wet)down to the beach, for snorkeling, sea turtle watch or simply enjoying the sun. The No Shore of Kauai is so lush and tropical. We have never tired of the beauty it embraces us with, year round! The sights are spectacular and abundant, as are the beaches. An outdoor enthusiasts playground and an artist's paradise! You are walking distance to cafe's, markets and simply a short drive(2.1 miles) from the legendary town of Hanalei. It continues to be our treasured home away from home, for 20 years!

We love to pack up our insulated backpacks with enough goodies to last a full day at the beach, for playing in the surf, paddle boarding or just enjoying the beauty that embraces you. Kids, dogs, adults frolicking in the bay, watching the others strolling along the old Hanalei Pier, taking photos, kids jumping off into the bay, laughter and sounds of excitement abound. Then you look up to this majestic mountain where the crown is always hiding in the cloud, with white ribbons of falls cascading down, against green velvet. You just sit back take a deep breath and say, 'Wow, I am living my dream!'

Please enjoy our 'Premium Deluxe Setting & Location' at a 'Very Affordable' price. Our home is clean and comfortable, offers all that you need. It is very loved! Priced as a casual condo, undervalued for the setting, location and views!

What a beautiful spot...

This location on the north end of the island has the most spectacular views of not only the ocean but the golf course as well. Walking distance into town for dinner and local shops! The bed was very comfortable and the linens were soft..you can see the stars above from the window at night. It made for a great night's rest along with the ocean waves crashing in the distance. Sounds are carried easily due to the year built, but all in all great stay. The host was very accessible which made for an easy check-in and check-out.

Great place in Princeville. It was relaxing after the beach and hiking. The kitchen was small and it was nice to cook for two. We appreciated the in unit washer and dryer.

Location was perfect for us. The only thing that we struggled with was the heat. No air conditioning made sleeping a bit uncomfortable.

Amazing property in great location!

We had the best time staying at this property on the north shore of Kauai! The location was awesome! We were right on the 15th hole of the Makai golf course and would walk on the cart path each morning for amazing sunrise views over the ocean! We could also walk to the Princeville market for groceries, breakfast, dinner, etc. The condo itself was perfect for the two of us. The newly remodeled shower was luxurious and the crosswinds we could get through the condo were heavenly! No AC was needed nor missed. The beach gear also came in clutch for our beach days. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends or family visiting this area!

You'll enjoy a stay here!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The location is a good spot in Princeville and not too far from the main highway. We were a little bummed anything past Hanalei Bay was closed off (Tunnels beach, Ke'e beach, Kalalau Trail) the time we were there (in July '18), but it was still a great location to be at! The property has a really pretty atmosphere, with nice trees, breeze, and a distant view of the water across a golf course. The apartment was really nice inside, it felt very clean and quaint. The bedroom is what stands out the most, it's open and surrounded by windows. As others have said, the kitchen is small, but there is enough supplies you can get by with. The television area was also really nice! A couch instead of two separate chairs would have been preferred, but it was still a nice place to sit. The bathroom was pretty big, and we appreciated the shampoo, conditioner, and lotion that was provided! The beach towels, chair, boogie boards, and umbrella were also great to have!

Decent place to stay

This place is a decent place to stay. It is clean, the lanai is nice and comfortable. The surroundings are peaceful. There are some important things that need to be addressed at this property though. The bed is small, not a queen as we know it in Canada. The bed sags badly in the middle and was very uncomfortable for a couple in their mid 50s. My husband is 6 foot 3 and his feet hung over the edge of the bed. To add to that, there are chairs in the living room that do not provide good back support. We had sore backs throughout the trip and we do not have back issues generally. A good loveseat would be much better than the chairs. The most comfortable chairs were basic chairs on the lanai. As mentioned, the kitchen is small but it’s important to note that there are just two burners on the stove with no oven or barbecue so you can only cook very basic things here. The fridge is about double the size of a mini fridge you would find in a hotel room so you cannot buy very many groceries at once. We made due and it worked out fine but it’s good to know this beforehand. There is not a lot of hot water for a shower either. We had to have lukewarm showers and then use more hot water for the last couple of minutes to feel warm getting out. This is a nice place and with a new bed with a quality mattress and a comfortable loveseat, we would certainly stay again.

The house has a dreamy view of the ocean in a wonderful neighborhood. The host left notes all over to help with the logistics of the house/trip. We had a wonderful time enjoying slow mornings and breakfasts on the porch. We didn’t get too lucky with the trade winds but the house has great fans and AC. We loved the golf course in the back overlooking the cliffs for beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Would recommend to a friend.

Cozy, comfortable place on the north shore. Morning walk around condo to watch sunrise. (Lanai faces other condos, not ocean.)Loved listening to the birds! Very comfortable bed and great shower! Sealodge Beach is excellent for snorkeling. Don’t miss the Farmer’s Market on Saturday in Hanalei.

The location property was nice. Beautiful views. The overall property is a quiet setting. However the conversion of this townhouse created issues of paper thin walls and faulty electrical switches. The shower drain was clogged on day one, which we fixed. Definitely not a place to stay 7 nights in.

We loved our stay in Kauai!! We definitely will return. Our host was great between our communications before and during trip, to helpful tips and make special accommodation for us. The condo clean, great location and was equipped with all your needs for a fun day at the beach or an evening in with wine and a sunset. I would recommend her and her place for your next stay in Kauai

Such a beautiful location and relaxing place to stay on our honeymoon. I still dream about being back here in Kauai with the windows open, the sea breeze lightly blowing, and the sound of the ocean in the background. The property had all the amenities we needed as well and was just the right amount of space for us. We especially loved playing games on the porch. Highly recommend!

oceanside paradise

great location, in a quiet neighborhood on the northeast end of the beautiful Princeville, so you don't have these roosters to wake you up early AM! it locates on the side of Makai golf course with a stunting view of the ocean just steps away, actually, you can see the ocean from the bedroom window. the ground is well maintained with a beautiful garden, they have few resident albatrosses dancing around, with their furry new baby. the unit is well organized, kept and clean, filled with all the amenities that you could need in the kitchen, also has plenty of beach activity equipment as well. the host Pam is very prompt, courteous, and extremely friendly. love to come back someday and stay there again on the garden isle

Great home base on the north shore

We really enjoyed our stay in this home. It worked perfectly for our plans on the island. Some of our favorite things:-very cool in the evening with the windows open and the breeze.-no excessive chicken noise in the AM. (my first stay in Kauai in 2019 came with roosters aggressively waking us up at 5am)-chairs, ice chest, etc. for beach trips-location: convenient close to Hanalei Bay, a partial ocean view, and beautiful sunrises.

Perfect location, wonderful condo!

Cozy with wonderful views. The condo has everything you need to have a wonderful stay. The lanai looks out over a huge umbrella tree and fragrant flowers are all over the property. Coffee on the lanai in the mornings with the many tropical birds is a joy! The area is very quiet and peaceful. The bedroom has windows all around the front and side, with a view across the green golf course to the ocean! The kitchen is small but is fully efficient. The washer/dryer in the unit is a great amenity. The fans keep the condo cool and there is no need for air conditioning. It actually gets very cool in the evenings due to the ocean breezes. The swimming pool on the property is well maintained and we enjoyed it. There are stairs to the second floor condo as you enter the unit but even with my back and knee issues there was no problem getting up and down the stairs. Pamela is a wonderful hostess and owner! We loved our stay and highly recommended this property!

About the host

Host profile image
This is a family owned condo, our home. My sister is a private chef in the S.F. Bay Area, my husband is a General Contractor, in Lake Tahoe, for 47 years (originally from the Bay Area) and I am a Realtor, at Compass in So Lake Tahoe and I have lived in Lake Tahoe, for 47 years (originally from the Bay Area). Our families continue to grow and we have had the most memorable, very special vacations together, on this magical island. We love to golf, hike, walk, take epic numbers of photos and relax on the beach, snorkeling, SUP and surfing. Kauai is truly our home away from home. Lake Tahoe is also paradise, but nothing is more exciting than to know we have a tropical winter home to escape to.

Why they chose this property

Our families in Lake Tahoe and San Francisco fell in love with Kauai, about 27 years ago. Once we became the owners of this special condo, our love continued to grow for this "Garden Island" paradise. When it is time for a trip, to get out of the snow, winter or simply a break from our busy lives, there is only one place that comes to my mind and that is Kauai. We have shared our love for Kauai with our children, grandchildren, other family members, friends and it has become "the paradise" for all that have experienced it. There is always a bit of sadness and a couple of tears when it is time to say Aloha!

What makes this property unique

It is our home, not a Hotel! Staying in our home you get to embrace the "local vibe". We love the lush flora, waterfalls, views, scenery, birds, lizards, sunrises, sunsets, beaches, cafe's, the community, all within steps - to short drives, from our doorstep. Princeville is in the No Shore of the island, which may get a little more rain, but most of the time, it is a quick shower to cool things off, ignite the waterfalls, create magical rainbows and make all the fauna colors vibrant. The abundance of beaches is a BIG attraction for us, but I have to admit, I do have a couple of favorites. The farmers market in Princeville, walking distance, is not to be missed, on Saturdays, at 9:30 - 12:30. The most beautiful, assorted veggies, fruits, flowers, crafts and deeelicious foods. A local plays music and sings, while you sit, enjoy your treats & the beautiful views of the mountains. Kauai is an island of outdoor activities, beautiful sights and star gazing. For those who like a little night life, you may find it at the larger resorts, where there are some spectacular island shows. If you have never been to Kauai, it is a must and I know you will return.

Oh my, where to begin!

Our favorite beaches:
Hanalei pier
Annini
Ke'e (when they reopen from the storm in April)

Restaurants:
North Shore:
Opakapaka
Dolphin for sushi
Dolphin Fish Market in back
Hanalei Gourmet
Chicken in a Barrel
The Italian Restaurant in the Princeville Shopping Center
Kilauea:
Lighthouse Bistro
In Kapaa:
Bull Shed
Lava, on the beach
Hamura Saimin off Rice Street, in Lihue for noodles
The Brewery in Lihue on Rice Street
Nahwiliwili Harbor has great outdoor mexican food dining, upstairs with views and a great Happy Hour

Farmers Market in Princeville on Saturday Mornings at 9:30 a.m - 12 p.m.
Friday night Art Walk in Hanapepe. We love Bobby's BBQ and dine outside while listening to the local music

We love to golf: Makai and Wailua. All of the art and craft fairs on the No Shore are fun, also.
