A luxury lodge
The lodge was impeccably clean, comfortable and well equipped. The outside areas were great with a large garden at the back that included a hot tub, which was a real asset to our stay, and a nice eating area to the front, all furnished with solid wood furniture. The location was great, really quick and easy to get to the lovely coastal towns on the East of the island, and less than an hour from the West. Lots to do within 30 minutes of the property. Plus being so close to The Mermaid was great, we ate there twice and the food, service (and gin) were all great! We weren't sent the code for the key box prior to our stay, which meant we had to call the owners, but they answered straightaway and provided the code, so not much of an issue. The only downside to the lodge was the slightly over-the-top commitment to fire safety. All the doors were heavy self-closing doors, which could be just about opened by our toddler, but then heavily slammed shut, and despite us being really careful did result in a squashed finger on the last day (no more serious than a few tears thankfully). There were also green lights above the doors in the bedrooms which gave off quite a bit of light and did disturb our daughter, I feel these could have been less bright. But if you don't have a toddler, I would thoroughly recommend these lodges, which will only get nicer as the greenery grows around the site.
