About this property
Pretty French Cottage with balcony overlooking gardens - sleeps 5-6
Garden View Cottage is part of a suite of terraced cottages at Gites Rue Du Chateau.
A pretty and spacious cottage with its own private entrance. The cottage sleeps up to 5 adults comfortably. With a large double/twin room, overlooking grounds and woodland and a large double room, overlooking a garden and across to the old town, with king size bed and leading to an adjoining dressing room. The dressing room has a traditional single day/sofa bed and could accommodate an extra Z bed for young child if needed. This room has a balcony with lovely view of the gardens. The cottage has a bathroom with shower on the ground floor, with an additional WC upstairs. Large traditional and fully equipped kitchen with dining table and door to an outside terrace, with dining chairs and furniture overlooking the gardens. Large spacious living area with wood burner and space to set up an additional dining area if desired. Door leading to terrace area. Direct access to washing machine and laundry room on site.
The site is gated with secure parking.
Situated in the grounds of what was once part of the old Chateau estate, our cottages offer a little haven of tranquillity, we think we have a found a place where you will be able to relax and feel at one with nature. You will have access to two and a half acres of walled garden and woodland, offering plenty of space for relaxation and traditional garden games. The site includes a beautiful clear stream, running through an old lavoir, a lovely above ground pool, 5m diameter, 1.2m deep, small boules area, BBQ, outside kitchen, with dining terrace and indoor dining area and cosy fire pit. Every day you can wake up to the sound of birdsong, running water and the local church bells in the distance.
Surprisingly peaceful, but within walking distance of bakeries, supermarkets, a Beer/Bar Warehouse and market, you can choose to stay on site or venture out and take part in one of the many local activities, including the Rejallant Canoe Centre, cycle paths, adventure parks, local lake activities or visit a Chateau..
Described, in one if our reviews as, 'a beautiful place, with a fine balance between modern and ancient charm'.
Hosts Anna & Ian live on site to ensure a warm and friendly welcome and would be available should you need anything. You will occasionally see them discreetly maintaining the pool and grounds during your stay.
Garden View Cottage is available to book individually, with no more than two of our cottages rented at any one time, or as part of a suite of up to four cottages....see our Gites Rue Du Chateau listing on VRBO or contact us for an exclusive whole site price.

About the host
Hosted by Ian Strutt

Ian and I made the decision to change our lifestyle and relocate from Norfolk, England to France, in April 2022. and we are very much in the early days of establishing our home and holiday cottage rental business, in the historic town of Ruffec. I love live music and festivals and anything magical. I used to work in education, specifically in development of Early Years education. My partner, Ian, is a musician and we both worked in the public sector; together we have worked hard to use our past skills to build a beautiful and welcoming place for families and friends to spend time together.
Why they chose this property
Situated, in what we feel is a little haven of tranquillity we think we have a found a place where you will be able to relax and feel at one with nature. We currently have two cottages to offer on site, with direct access to outside eating space and a further one in development.
The site sits within two and half acres of walled gardens, woodland, an old Lavoir (former wash house) and Trout stream and there is plenty of space to offer areas for some privacy. You will have access to a lovely shallow splash pool, outside kitchen and dining terrace, boules court and fire pit area.
Every day you can wake up to the sound of birdsong, running water and church bells in the distance.
Surprising peaceful, but within walking distance of bakeries, shops and a local market, you can choose to stay on site or venture out and take part in one of the many local activities on offer, including, canoeing, cycle paths, adventure parks, local lake activities or visit a Chateau and have a long lazy lunch.
With further developments in the pipeline to include, games room and music in the Barn and overall improvements and other services we offer, we are very excited about the future.
